Part of the noise from motorcycles is the pipes. Honestly they would be quieter with different pipes and many are. But being the wife of a man with a bike, Loud pipes saves lives. His bike is loud and I am ok with it. People don't watch for motorcycles. But they can sure hear him, and not hit him. End threadjack:D

why do u think they add sound to electric cars? For safety.. a silent vehicle is a deadly vehicle /threadjack2

I never thought of myself as a cloud chaser, though lately I have been putting some nice builds to work at a few of the local shops. The initial intension was to produce enough vapor to pack my lungs as that's what was always missing with the cigalikes I tried, I guess as my lungs have started to clear and heal there is more space in there, I end up with big clouds of vapor. I use an atomizer with a no cloud producing build for much of the day, but when I get home I pound the drippers. I do respect the fact that folks wont accept huge clouds of vapor so I keep that for Vape shops and home.

I thought it was so the electric car owners could feel as cool as kids with playing cards in the spokes of their bike wheels. :D

Nobody should react to smoke unless they smell it.
Anybody reacting without smelling anything is a fine example of what is wrong with the world today.

When I had pneumonia last week I didn't have a chance to smell smoke or vapor to react to it. My airway just shut off if it wasn't dissipated enough. In fact I could smell it without reacting as long as the actual smoke or vapor wasn't entering my throat.

I understand your point though. When I was a smoker the person coughing across the walmart parking lot staring at me is the problem. I don't care if they could smell it.

Amen.. we have accidents around here every day. Its ridiculous how many people text while driving next to my work vehicle. I drive a SCHOOL BUS. And they are texting and swerving away. His pipes are nowhere NEAR as annoying as those farts cans the kids are putting on their exhaust system these days. Threadjack 3

listen, I get those of you who smoke big and thick vapers and want to toss out thick as hell vapes, like a cigar, but you guys are going to cost the rest in the eyes of the ignorant. I plea to you to not use .... type vapers too much in public.

the way I see it in the future:

we will be limited to e-cig alikes with heavily limited suppliers

or complete bans unless its big tobacco ran.

which do you want to be part of? look, im not against you guys who want to toss out cigars level of smoke, but many people don't understand nor want to. to them, we are bypassing tobaccos laws. they see vape and they assume smoke, and can hurt their babies. STOP IT. we need to stay under the radar, and push our cause, it'll take long time but its in OUR BEST INTEREST.

our nation, the US is in too much political issues we'd be one of the easier ban if we continue. lets keep under radars

if they ban vaping ill quit because my life will depend on the ... GOVT. yours might not but mine will. im against those who wish to vape and toss up so thick vapes that it causes non smokers to caugh. our right does not surpass those who don't smoke. and I'd never agree to it. to me, it be like saying/fighting for automatic guns and IEDS. I will never support it.

You heavy smokers want to ruin it for us non heavy smokers like its your assault rifles and I will never back you on it. Stick to e-cgs for public use or get it GONE.

I kinda went with this one until I read the part about keeping vaping under the radar, then you started bashing those who want to do something that they like to do. Fighting for 'automatic guns' and IEDs? What are you talking about?

The faster people realize that this is all about money the better off we will all be. It has nothing to do with health issues. It never did. It's a two part plan just as with anything else. Number one, big corporate tobacco wants vaping regulated because it competes with their empire. Since corporate empires mysteriously have huge influence on politicians, they will get their way. There's no way around that folks. Sorry.

Secondly, regulation equals one thing in the eyes of government - taxation. It's just another regulation that will be imposed in the name of safety, just like everything else. Millions of dollars are being spent on an addictive substance (nicotine) and the government wants their cut.

So the next time you see someone putting up huge clouds in public, be rest assured that any regulation coming forth has nothing to do with that.

For the record, I treat vaping just like smoking. Although it doesn't contain harmful substances like cigarette smoke, Joe Public doesn't know that. Since vaping focuses on quitting smoking, I choose to focus on that and oust myself from crowds and public buildings. Vaping doesn't suddenly give one the right to be in peoples' personal space puffing away.

Yep, absolutely. I just can't figure out why they think they're entitled to more than ordinary sales-tax funds -- why is nicotine this "magical" substance that turns into money for government?

I'm much the same, but with one difference: if I'm in a public place, indoors, where there are only 1 or 2 other people, I feel perfectly entitled to ask them if they mind if I vape, because this state has no blanket bans. If they say no, please don't, then I'll just take it outside; maybe grudgingly, because I know it's harmless and has very little odor of any kind, but it's not worth arguing about it with closed-minded people; they aren't going to change, no matter the superiority of my logic, and making a big "stink" about it would probably ensure that that person's opinion will harden and never change. If they ask, does it smell bad? I offer to take a puff and let them smell for themselves; so far none have objected, who were willing to at least check it out for themselves. I really think that if vapers are non-threatening about it, non-vapers are more likely to be at least open-minded about it.

What is going to bring vaping down is BT and political BS. BT is losing money to it and politicians need the public focused on anything but them. Everything else is just vapor.

I think youre wrong there.

Its incumbent upon us as educated vapers to do our part whatever it may be...whether thats contacting our representatives, writing letters, having common courtesy for those around us etc. All of that contributes to our continued success as a community and directly affects the perception of outsiders.

And ALL of that in combination can most certainly bring us down.

Its rarely ever just one thing that contributes to failure. Its a lot of little things that add up and snowball over time.

I only use .5 - .4 ohm drippers on a mech in full 18650 mode and take it everywhere I go. Oddly enough, I've never been asked to put it away, but a good friend of mine is constantly hated on with his MVP and little 1.6mL Innokin iClear 16.

Why is this? Because I stealth vape, and he doesn't. It is possible to stealth vape with the "big evil mods" you speak of, and it is possible to act like a jackass with a cigalike. The issue is NOT using big mods, the issue is people with no tact or respect for others.

If I have to sneak a quick one in public, I SNEAK a QUICK ONE. I don't pull out my iTaste for the world to see and blow vape carelessly in any direction whatsoever, and then argue with employees of the establishment when they tell me I can't use it there.

My friend however, DOES do this, and THIS is what gets e-cigs put into a bad light.

Yeah;

like somebody who thinks his vaping at the checkout at the store ought not to offend anybody, but yet is offended by the *looks* he gets from them.

Yep it sure is about money and definitely not health or even the "children" ! That's a joke. It's about money and big clouds little clouds no clouds it does not matter. If government can't get a piece of the pie they will ban it. Sooo, I think the op is waaay off. It's not about offending people it's about more money more money and I want that money. They don't give a care about health. It's funny, I've always said look, our kids can't watch TV without a alcohol Comercial telling them to have fun the should drink this, or to get the girls, drink that..really? You honestly think they give a care about us or our health? Ha ha ha. That's a joke! All they want is money and big tobacco does not want us to take theirs. Think of this, I one person smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years at 6 dollars a pack. Think of how much that is! Just loosing one smoker, imagine loosing hundteds. It's all about money. And op vaping is not smoking....

Problem is, it doesn't matter what the pols' motivations are. That's a topic for a different discussion.

What the OP is talking about is the ammunition we, as vapers, give those pols to con their constituents into backing them.

Like I said before, the lies and misinformation they use are bad enough, giving them ammunition which has some basis in fact, no matter how tenuous, is the worst thing we can do if we want to have a chance to stifle them.

And I really think that just ordinary common courtesy is where we, vapers, need to stand. To ask if anyone minds -- people did that for years, before all the smoking bans -- "Mind if I smoke?" and usually, back then, the answer was no, or I don't care... it was in the 80's, someone nailed that right, that the ANTZ really got busy and started all the zealotry. There is no reason not to exercise that same courtesy now, with vaping. And yeah, I do think blowing vast clouds of cool whip vapor into the air that others are breathing is a bit on the rude side -- I'm a vaper, and I would not appreciate that myself -- my own vapor has to be thin or it gives me an asthma attack.

I've only had two negative encounters. The first wasn't too bad but the 2nd one pushed me over the edge. I was on a bench AWAY from anyone. A hog was walking by with a friend. I did not vape at all as they were walking by. There was no residual cloud or anything, but the hog just HAD to comment to her friend about vaping. Before I could stop myself I told her I had found a healthier alternative for my addiction and she should do the same and try a salad.

I felt a little guilty because I've watched my sister struggle with weight and I know it isn't easy but she was disgusting and an ... on top of it.

I had to stop harassing overweight people, my karma came to get me and I gained about 30 lbs seemingly in the blink of an eye. I finally managed to lose all but about 5 lbs of it, but I've struggled with it ever since. Nowadays I keep my unkind remarks to myself, I don't need any more karmic weight gains. :D But I still get annoyed when someone who's at least 50 lbs overweight whines about their diabetes, and I want so bad to ask them if they've tried losing weight? But somehow I manage to bite my tongue -- THAT kind of karma, I REALLY don't want. But in your position, of someone just gratuitously insulting your healthier choice out of sheer ignorance... I think I'd have responded exactly as you did -- she opened the door, so she should be prepared for whatever comes thru it.

Haven't read this whole thread, but have read enough to realize my vape everywhere position is still unchanged.

I use a cigalike and always have. I've seen bigger devices in the wild, and am impressed with vapor output from them. It would reasonably challenge my vape everywhere position, but not a whole lot. It is hard for me to gauge how long that sort of cloud hangs in the air, as I've seen them outside mostly, and still seems to dissipate much faster than smoke. If I were to learn that it is significantly slower than a cigalike when it comes to indoor use, it would have me update things. But only slightly. I'd still be comfortable with either vaping one myself or advocating for such a device to be vaped in a hospital (of all places). I'm still yet to hear of a place that is inherently a problem for exhaled vapor. A hospital seems to be one of those places that is a no-no for most people (including many vapers), but I can think of dozens of places in that type of location where for sure no person would notice a cigalike, and very likely wouldn't notice the larger devices. Sure, get 5 or more of us together and its a different story. But that's true with all places, including outdoors, own car, own home, etc.

Which is always interesting when the anti-indoor vaping vapers claim we shouldn't vape where we wouldn't smoke. Really? Can I (a dual user) smoke in your house? I mean, if you vape there, then the inverse of the logic ought to be applicable. If you vape there, and you wouldn't vape where smoking isn't allowed, then surely you would allow me to smoke in your house. If not, why not? Is it cause it's your house, your rules, and your rules are how you say, inconsistent?

Also always interesting when some vaper claims it's these people (these vapers) who are ruining it for the rest of us. Mostly fascinating because all politically aware vapers on ECF fully realize our opposition really doesn't care about our discussion on this. If anything, it would likely humor them. Instead, our opposition, as can be seen in legislative area of this forum, proposes usage bans because a) they know they can likely get it thru with right political party there to pass the votes and push it through and b) because it is a key step toward larger goal of decimating the industry and/or shaming its users.

Also interesting cause if I were opposition, I'd come onto a forum just like this one and tell people to stop doing it. I'd claim that openly doing it and freely vaping is ruining it for everyone, and I'd hope that at least some would listen to me and then agree with the logic so that when 'we' propose usage bans in your neck of the woods, we'd know that we can count on you to support the rationale that says do not vape where you cannot smoke. Hoping that some of you will not question it, and just accept that it is as wrong/shameful as public smoking. Hoping also that you will agree with 'us' that it is wrong even outside. And that when we have captured enough areas, starting with the biggest cities first, we can tackle areas like own home, and own car, for surely you agree with 'us' that it is that shameful. That rude of a behavior. Please help 'us' promote that vaping is inherently a rude activity. If you can't bring yourself there just yet, that's okay. We are patient. Just go along with notion that indoors, regardless of situation, it is always wrong. Always.

Bonus points if you tattle on fellow vapers for daring to do it in certain places. Extra credit if you do all you can on vaping forums to shame fellow vapers who dare admit that they do it in public. Keep up the fine work and who knows, maybe one day (when you come to your sense and quit this nasty, shameful habit) we can make you a poster child for our cause. Then you'll get to see that we don't really care at all if it is done, cause we know it will be done while vaping is in its Golden Era. But you'll help us bring an end to that won't you? Bring it to the place where smoking now resides?

Where shame and scorn reign supreme.

I'm all for blowing that clouds that would make Icurus choke, but COMMON SENSE must kick in.

For instance, blowing extreme vaping RDA's while shopping where parents have their kids with them, like at a mall or grocery store is probably a bad idea.

Like at a restaurant, blowing thick clouds around while patrons are dining, probably a bad idea.

... and for God's sake, maybe if you happen to be attending a city council meeting where the topic being debated is banning e-cigs from indoor public use, maybe this isn't the ideal environment to show the decision makers how awesome your .2ohm dripper is as a portable fog machine.

Yes, I've seen instances of all of the above. You can thump your chest about your rights all you want, but this kind of lack of common sense is what gets those rights taken away.
