I don't know what exactly they are doing but they seem to have transformed a very good marketing PR campaign for the VTR in a messy launch of both their new products.

VTR seem to have attracted a real fanbase (and seems justified, but I'm already contaminated) with this original package for a box, following the BB in the internalization of the tank/clearo in an even more versatile way and with solid electronics figures.

MVP2 seem to have integrated most of the (reasonable) feedback for an update (button a bit more easy to feel, ohmmeter, wattage) without compromising the already established appreciated features (autonomy, rechargeable, small and solid discreet package, good exterior). Nice personalized skins as well on facebook (I don't know if they are MVP or MVP2 of both).

They could both be sold quite easily around the original price-points of their cylindrical counterparts in innokin lineup (~$60-80 and ~$120-150) or even of course cheaper. But they aren't and I believe some people are going elsewhere or waiting instead of buying the current MVP... From a good campaign to a marketing nightmare ?

Headline... Smart "anticipation marketing" scheme turns into "thousands of annoyed customers - where did we go wrong?" scheme. I think I'll buy another Magneto/Kick combo... while I watch and wait for Innokin to pull their heads out...

Innokin being neither prompt nor forthcoming about the VTR's release date delay sent me running to the safety of the arms of my favorite vendor who has excellent customer service. I'll be in for a wait because they have been busy moving cross country and had not yet placed an order but. However, having them stand between me and any unpleasant potential surprises as well as being able to do a pre-order as soon as a price is forthcoming so I don't have to stalk websites makes the delayed gratification worth it.

I decided to comfort myself in the meantime by ordering a new bright shiny, a bottom feeder kit from Vision to use with my Innokin iTaste VV 3.0s. Despite Todd's great review I'm trying not to get too excited as Vision has never seemed to be the tiniest bit embarrassed about releasing alpha products.

Reading/watching/listening to that Aurara BFT. When Todd giggles... I, as embarrassed as I hate to say it, listen. ;-)

I love that Todd always gets excited like a little kid about his new vape toys and wears his heart on his sleeve about his reactions to them. It's also very obvious that he very much wants to like everything so I put extra credence in his critical comments because you know they come from a place of constructive criticism.

Also, it always makes me smile when Todd gets so tickled with something that he can't help but giggling. I think it's adorable. I'm hoping for lots of giggles when he reviews the VTR.

It'll be good if he does, but I'll not be buying anything with the Innokin name on it - that isn't already sitting in a vendor's inventories - for some time to come.

To explain my comments: Not a big fan of, what I perceive to be, shell game marketing... and companies that do it lose my trust rather easily. I'll need someone from Innokin to come forward and explain their recent actions before I'll consider their new products. :glare:

While Innokin's behavior has not been forthcoming I seriously doubt it is nefarious. The president has been to the U.S. to meet dealers and reviewers. He took their suggestions on board and made changes to Innokin's product line. I could be mistaken but I believe I heard somewhere that he plans to make a similar visit this fall. That's not the behavior of someone with shady intentions and is exactly the type of behavior I prefer to reward with my dollars.

Attempting to shoehorn Western expectations into Chinese manufacturing realities and culture is not a task I would wish on my worst enemy. That's why I'm willing to pay a bit more to a trusted vendor who has a track record of making Chinese QC issues their headache rather than mine, particularly where more expensive items are concerned.

Agreed. And it would be better for a product to be delayed than to be thrust out before it's ready. I know that products are never rushed to this market, but there's a first time for everything. ;)

At the moment, the measurements of the VTR appear to be 0 * 0 * 0.

The deletion of the release date, with nothing said at all, is a little irritating to me. I can't assume Innokin's motives or reasons, but another an archery company seems to test market in that matter, and it just strikes a nerve.

So, if the VTR is not finalized, and mods can still be made, please make at least one for me that does not have the stupid wording on the side and maybe put a big square of black or grey non-slip over the front and back.

Thanks. I'm feeling better, now.

Great post sir! Kindly allow me to address a few points.

I can assure you that it's not nefarious. If Innokin could have the product out now, it would. Things happen. Look at the iTaste SVD, for example. That product was delayed due to issues with the stainless steel tubes. It was the company's first stainless steel product and it was getting lower yields than expected. Similarly, the VTR is quite different from Innokin's previous products and there's an issue. The MVP 2 is an update, so there weren't any surprises there.

Mr. Xia is the gentleman that made the rounds earlier this year and he's the deputy manager of Innokin. And yes, he definitely listened to a lot of the feedback he was given by store owners and reviewers. My favorite part was telling him that I thought "SVD" was a bad name for a product because it has "VD" in it and...well, nobody wants a VD. Ha!

And I'm thinking that amazing looking Aurora might just fit on the VTR without the use of the extension. That would be very sweet.
VV, VW, portable, bottom fed. Use traditional 510 threaded atty, carto or coil heads with out the extension. Nice.

Here's a German Review of the Vision Aurora BFT with some good visuals.

Vision Infinity (Aurora BFT) Ein kleiner Bottomfeeder für Ego Akkus - YouTube

Was a fun thought, but it looks to me like the diameter of the Aurora is probably wider than an itaste clearo, so it won't fit sunken. Darn.
