Just glancing over this thread (tractor-trailer takes most of my attention...)
I always use multiple mods. Mostly for flavor. I never chain vape. As an ex-tobacco pipe smoker, I give a quarter of a second primer puff and follow with maybe a full second (if that long) drag. I seriously doubt my 28 gauge 1.4 ohm coils approach full temp, as it takes couple of good seconds to dry burn during maintenance. Then I set that mod down. Five to fifteen minutes later, I do the same with that or another mod.
Been this way for years as I was warned against vaping like smoking by a nurse.
Now, from some of the posts I have glanced over, it doesn't sound like I am approaching the danger zone here.
Have I missed something ?

However, there is lots more valuable information on this thread. I turned all my wattages down, and I like a cool vape. I take care not to chain vape (my a.m. chainvaping setup of having at least 4 mods to vape has helped with that issue) and as someone who can't use PG I am now using distilled water and a tiny bit of vodka in my Max VG. These are all "best practices" that Mike P. has talked about OTHER than TC, I don't think he's ever stated that anyone "should" use TC, he has merely done a lengthy and time consuming set of experiments to help vapers vape safely.

I so agree with you, Anna. We all make choices in life--every day from the moment we wake up. I'm trying to make good choices--best I can. :)

I'll never stop eating bread and butter, or drinking coffee and wine, no matter what the studies say. But I wear seatbelts and haven't had a soda in... I don't even remember how many years.

Then it's a very poor joke without a punchline.....
Agreed, if you are coming into this from outside, the context was lost.

It is a running joke between me and Rossum , Gdeal, DrunkJ, and a few others who tried to convert met to squonkers. They failed.

And thats all it is, a friendly joke, among a group who hangs out together.

Nope....

Many asked questions about how hot does my XWY Mod get, so I measured it for them. Then I also measured formaldehyde in a real atty. I also gave pages upon pages (look at my blogs) on how non-TC users could vape safer if they so chose.

How you vape is your choice, nobody is suggesting differently. This thread is for those that do care about keeping aldehyedes to minimum.

from the University of Cambridge Cancer Institute:

"We also know that different users use different devices and liquids. So it could be that some are safer or more harmful than others. And people also use the devices in different ways. So further work needs to be done to understand these differences, so that each vaper is using their device as safely as possible."

I was simply doing some of that work.

Just reading several of Mike's blogs, very informative....
If I am looking at this right (maybe, maybe not) there is always a trace element of some of these substances, even at lower temperatures. Increasing temperature radically increases the release of the gases (which are present anyways, but can be limited at lower temps).
Personal vaping styles- MTL, DLH, and the amounts of vapor you are intaking also affect the amount of these gases. Longer DTL hits will still intake a certain amount of these substances, even at lower temperatures.
Fuel (wick saturation) and air flow I can understand.
Good work, Mike. I think the Title and OP might be a little misleading to the excellent information you have provided the vaping community.
