My phrasing was poor. What's your preferred squonker these days @Rossum?
Hasn't changed in ~1000 days; a pdib l'il pinch. They are no longer made, but I've got, uhm, a few.

If I were into regulated, I'd probably get a BAM. Obviously, they are not as svelte.

Ok guys I'm new to vaping a out a week in

I'm trying to go through this thread and understand what I'm reading but it's ALOT of info.

I'm using a Voopoo Drag and will be using Fireluke Mesh Tank and am wondering what you more knowledgeable guys can tell a layman to act in the safest way possible with this setup regarding the findings of the wonderful people here?

Rule #1: NEVER run your tank dry. Barring a dry/burning hit you will always be safer than smoking.

The rest of this is just FURTHER, POTENTIAL risk reduction and as a newbie you shouldn't sweat it. Focus on staying off the cigs for now and worry about TC, SS, rebuilding, and DIY juice once you are more comfortable.

Class dismissed.

Pardon my ignorance but what is SS? And stay away from kanthal?

Edit - just had a read about SS and TC and now know not to run kanthal in TC only wattage and keep TC for SS coil

Once again, Rossum, I find you to be a remorseless enabler. I am reviewing that BAM thread now. Having followed your past recommendations and not regretting that, I expect to ultimately fall. I have been looking at regulated squonkers for a while but have most of them wanting. Often they have a nice board (Evolve) but lousy 510's and very .... poor boxes.

There is nothing wrong with using VV/VW and I'd hazard a guess that 99% of new vapers use wattage mode. For my first few months vaping, I was using drop in coils with very high VG (I'm PG sensitive) and a bit of distilled water really helped the temps in my vape, although my vape was also nicer which I wasn't expecting. This thread probably got me into rebuilding sooner than I otherwise might have, although in retrospect I wish I'd waited a bit longer.

I still use wattage some of the time, but starting to use best practices (rotating setups, doing what I could to minimize overheating my tank, etc.) and it's working out fine. I use TC with some of my vapes, and I feel confident in using it correctly and etc.

But, my main point is, even using WORST practices for a few months (like most vapers starting out do) I was still seeing vast health improvements and they were endorsed by my doctors who indicated I was steadily getting better. So, even if you just don't jump directly into TC and just use wattage mode and get through detox so you can start thinking again and etc. You will (most likely) still see health improvements and sure, you can improve your vape by using TC a little down the line, but for now, as Scott said, just getting vaping stable and habitual for you is probably a better (and more realistic goal) than trying to jump directly into TC. You can for sure keep reading about it, but don't let some of the information that appears "scary" to push you into TC. You want to be sure you are doing it correctly and your experiences and experiments will probably help you once you get around to TC.

Best of luck,

Anna

mike...any thoughts on the USONICIG Rhythm Ultrasonic Vaping Kit...(haven't been able to find it at a US vender...yet)...

It "aims to revolutionise your vaping experience by using ultra-high frequency vibrations from a ceramic coil in order to turn e-liquid into vapour, as opposed to primarily using heat like most other devices.

The coil vibrates at a rate of 2,400,00 times per second, resulting in vapour with around 30% less heat than standard."

I just had a look. From a purely risk reduction perspective, if it works as advertised, it is an interesting concept. I would personally never use that particular device primarily b/c I refuse to buy any device with non-replacable batteries. in my experience ANY device with built-in batteries, I end up having to throw away a perfectly good device just because the batteries are dead. I also dislike being beholden to one company for "replacement" tanks/coils. Not to mention they only hold 2ml, so it seems it would require constant refilling.

I got into vaping more for cost reduction than for risk reduction. The replacement tanks/coils cost nearly $7.00 US, so for me, I'm out on this one. I'll stick with wrapping my own coils for like $0.02 rather than paying $7 per coil. The only way I would reconsider is if they made a version with replaceable batteries, with 4ml tank, and the tank/coils would have to last at least a few months at the $7 price tag.

Its not really new. The original very first ecigs by Hon Lik were ultrasonic.

The challenge is that the ceramic clogs, especially with sweet or heavily flavored juices. Ultrasonic also tended to have a bit more of a lag time.

Maybe they have improved upon it.

According to Phil there's still a major lag time.

untar...I HAD seen that PBusardo had done a video on it...but even being unemployed/retired...I still don't have 53 minutes available in my life to watch a video on a Mod...

Did he offer any other thoughts/tips on it...or...ThumbsUP/ThumbsDOWN???

His opinions in a nutshell (in my own words)
-too long rampup
-flavor muted
-switch is a piece of crap that'll break on the first opportunity it gets
-not very efficient battery usage (1500mAh for 2ml of juice)

A pod is supposed to last about 2 weeks/5000 puffs and would have to be replaced then (multiple refills in that time frame). Seeing it contains a chip, circuitry and an ultrasonic "speaker" I can't imagine the price for one would be reasonable in any way. This thing just seems like a waste to me.

Once it hits the streets, if there is a lot of good buzz, I might look into it. Right now, I am not even interested enough to sit through a review vid. I love and respect Phil, but I have to be downright intrigued to sit through one of his vids.

I know that (any) ceramic clogs, so unless cartridges are $2 or so it just doesnt seem viable to me. Plus, I like punch, not lag, in my vape.
