I would be careful trusting a TC is at the set temperature without seeing tests if you're buying into the 450 scare, my earlier post showed some off 50 deg and more lol

First, I'm not scared, just concerned, as many others are.
My tc is as accurate as a 420°f dry cotton burn test will allow. Good enough for me.

I'm vaping a 10 wrap SS316L coil in my Pico and it's fine. For SS316L wire use M1 in the TC setup. Click 4 times while in TC mode to set the wattage to whatever works best for you. Mine is set at 10 watts since I'm a Tootle Puffer who just wants a cig like vape.
What do you set the tcr to?

It is fairly well known that there are TC devices on the market that can't actually regulate TC. The SIG213 and IPV6x come to mind as two fairly recent examples. (IPV6x was fixed in the v1.5 firmware)

Those of us that are 'in to TC' more than likely have tested our wire, TCR and devices with the cotton singe test and the boil water tests and know (or have a fairly good idea) if our mods/tcr/wire can regulate temperature and how well.

While my personal vaping habits would have me venturing north of 450F almost never the preboiling point break down of VG has caught my interest. I may be interested in knowing more and having more data on the subject it is rather doubtful the studies that are currently available will have much of a impact on my personal vaping habits.

Standard for M1 is .00092, from what I read. I haven't changed it. I just chose M1 and vaped.
Out of the box m1-m3 are set to 0120. With current firmware I'm using the ss preset but earlier I had to dial in a custom tcr. Don't remember what that was, but above 0120. Something around 0100 I believe.

I've used Steam engine to get my desired heat flux value for my builds for the last couple of years.... It gives me comparable temperatures across the different wires that I use, what I don't know is what a heat flux value of say 200 equates to in terms of temperature?

Yeah, those were rather forgettable, just like the vaping donuts (didn't those explode or something?). :D

But I did omit some big inventions, for the sake of brevity, but it's late and Dr. F has spoken, and you baited me [emoji14], here goes:

Mik Janty and his eGo (and the mythical Tesla that never materialized)--a true game changer--the first high mAh regulated battery; the Bartleby (and Scottbee's dream mod); BuzzKilla and his Buzz mod (first vv?); Kenb54 and his Big Brother and Little Sister; Cisco and his legendary HH.357 hybrid atomizer; not to mention all the atomizer mods [straw, Lipton teabags, blue foam (fish tank again ;))]; flashlight mods; syringe mod; staple mod (for connectivity problems); and everyone's all time favorite, the Altoids mod:

Sorry, @mikepetro. This is my last post on the subject.

Thank you, ECF and @Oliver , for giving us a place where we can talk, argue, have fun, and LEARN!
Love it! Personally never tried the fish sticks but absolutely loved the fc2000's although a bit fragile. Sorry for being off topic but a shout out to superxdrifter for bringing basic micros to tanks. Whether or not he was the first, was at least the first here. And now back to our regular scheduled program.....

Dr. F says their device is not an ecig so it doesn't prove anything about them. I agree. He would probably agree that lower temperature is better than higher temperature that less flavoring is better than more flavoring, that fewer daily ml's is better than more and less watts is better than more watts. You don't always need science. Sometimes common sense works too.
Probably a bit late and premature but low watts, mtl, hi nic and less ml's per day is what I have always done and wouldn't bother me if it made a come back. most of the newer juices being made are too low in nic. I should be making my own juice but have a hard time finding selections these days with anything above 18mg.

Forgive my complete and utter sarcasm here, but "News flash! Maker of temperature control chips does research and declares temperature control is the safest method for vaping, the rest will kill you dead!" rofl.. it just isn't something I'm planning on taking any stock in.. big tobacco did all manner of research saying how safe smoking was too.. lol.. Evolv just wants to sell their stuff, imho, and I don't (and will never) put any stock in research beneficial to the manufacturer who did the "study".

Here is what I know for a FACT: after smoking for 32 years I couldn't breath, and getting to the mailbox was trying for my lungs, my blood pressure was up and smoking was slowing/preventing proper blood flow to the lowest parts of my spine, and it was making my disease (CRPS type 2) even more painful than it should be. Check that with, after quitting smoking and taking up vaping, within one month of a CE4 and little bitty ego battery I could breath again, later, I found a vaping experience more to my liking, after trying many things. My pain level decreased, my ability to breathe continued to improve, my blood pressure dropped and I am healthier in general. For me, nothing else matters. For MOST vapers, nothing else matters. We were dead anyway.

Research is only important for people who never smoked, who aren't under a complete and total death sentence from big tobacco.. and for them, ONLY independent and unbiased research matters. Evolv taking a page from BT's playbook doesn't endear me to their company, to be honest. It makes me trust them less.

    Peace.
    Amen brudda

MacTechVpr introduced me to tensioned micro coils (and many other thoughts) some years back, rebuilding Kanger Pro tanks, if memory serves me.

Pretty much what I do, MTL, 36mg, down to about 4ml a day. And yeah, I have to DIY as I dont see juice this high anymore.

Echo those sentiments vap as @super_X_drifter's persistence with closed winds once he arrived there and your video efforts with annealing to stabilize form were instrumental to my appreciating the potential of this technology, provided me with enough certainty to quit and contribute here. Thank you both.

    Good luck. :)

Even 12mg is hard to come by.
I vape DIY 50/50 12mg from a 1.8 ohm coil normally in the 7-8 watt range.

It's Funny to see how things have Shifted.

I remember when it was Hard to Find 12mg/ml. Because everything was Higher.

    LOL

My Pico (with FW 1.03) has M1 M2 M3 SS Ti, and Ni settings. On M1 it was varying +/- 20 degrees or more and jumping into overtemp and back. That didn't interrupt the vape. I just noticed it. Set on SS it doesn't jump into overtemp. I have temp set on 200C and it stays 180 +/- 5 to 10 degrees and doesn't go into overtemp. The vape has slight warmth, good vapor, and better temp control than M1.

    LOL

I vaped 24mg for 2 or 3 years. It was hard to find lower percentages once I got lower than 12mg in my journey to lower nic.
