BTW - Before I get Tagged for Going Off-Topic, the Forbes Article can be Discussed here...

Senators' Letter To FDA Commissioner Gottlieb ...

The mention of a "Thermal" Standard is what caught my Eye. And was what would be considered Relevant to This Thread.

Lol, my first instinct after reading your first sentence was that your post is about #Covfefe !
LOL - Ask not what covfefe can do for you, but what you can do for #covfefe

I had no idea how strongly people feel about rayon :)
I be one of them. It last long, has a higher burner point, less flavor of its own, great capillary action, dirt cheap. It meets all of my current needs anyway....

I get it ! I just thought the reaction to the PBusardo video was a little funny, that's all. It reminded me of when an ANTZ study is published and how quickly people scramble to find holes in the study ... The density wasn't right, it wasn't trimmed properly, PBusardo isn't always right, he was off his game in this video etc....I'm not saying they're wrong mind you, just a little surprised by the reaction :) As if there's an emotional attachment to ones way of doing things.

I haven't tried rayon so i can't compare. The price argument is irrelevant though ( unless you are using ReadyXWick i suppose ). Cotton or Rayon, $20 will last most people a lifetime. I paid $12 for my KGD about 4 years ago, and i haven't even used up 20 % of it. It worked well enough for me to not look further, but i'm open to the possibility that i may prefer rayon if i try it.

I suspect a decent cotton, or rayon, either one, will meet most peoples current needs. It probably just comes down to taste and feel preference. If someone needs higher performance that what these materials offer, they are more than likely running very specialized hardware.

Got a link to your particular PT? Preferably one with all the parts blown apart?

This is a link to Lightning Vapes page for the PT head. It shows the head assembled and separated. It's very small. The coil would sit horizontally at the level of the bottom of the slots in the sides of the body. The narrow chimney piece friction fits into the top of the body, when it's in place in the tank that chimney runs up inside a slightly wider chimney piece that is part of the tank. The cotton wick sticks out from the bottom of the slots where there is a gap below the bottom of the chimney piece. So you would have access to the ends of the wick and coil. But when the coil is installed the wick ends are sunk inside a threaded section of the tank base, and another metal piece is screwed on top of that. I guess it would be possible to drill through the metal parts. Then you could push a thermocouple in. But the coil is 1/16" and so is the wick. It would have to be a REALLY thin T/C and you wouldn't be able to see where it ended up.

If you want I could take some photos of the rest off the tank.

Guess it might be possible, but hardly worth the effort. As discussed above we can make a decent guess about the safety level of PT's.

Im willing if you have at least 3 coils you can sacrifice.

I would use a 40awg (0.00314") thermocouple . First thought is going in through the mouthpiece. I could pull the top off the cartridge, stick the probe under a coil loop, then put it all back together.

If you by chance have a plastic tank then I have the option of drilling a tiny hole through side of the tank.

I just got giddy knowing somebody doesn't think old PB is completely infallible.

Check out how old the videos I referenced are.

You'll see I've been holding that little gem in my little brown pill box for probably 2 years.

Not that I don't prefer rayon.

Just wasn't my focus.

stuck in a squishy pod called my brain
The other thing I like about rayon is that it is cheap! $14 bought me a lifetime supply plus plenty to give away.
fwiw,, i had chronic vapors tongue with cotton,, i switched to rayon and the vt disappeared. imho,, 'cotton cant keep up with my chain vaping'..........i found rayon just in time, i was ready to go back to cigs.
