Simple(ish)answer for "What is 80/20VG?" Question. I skimmed but didn't see anyone answer it....

80/20 is a ratio you pick, and you will see many vendors give you the choice(a good vendor will more than likley give you the choice) of different ratios. 60/40, 70/30, 80/20 and so on.

PG is often the higher ratio but it may not be in all cases.

PG- Propylene glycol. It's a base just as VG used in juices. It tends to be much thinner. It also has antimicrobial properties which is a bonus because it kills germs in your juice. It's been used in hospital ventilation systems. It is FDA recognized as GRAS(generally recognized as safe). Rarely people may have a sensitivity to it. It is commonly found in foods, toothpastes, and so on in our consumable products on shelves.

VG- Vegetable glycerin. An all natural even more commonly found base for juices found in our foods and body care products. VG is what gives your juice its "vapor" If you want to be more discreet when you vape, pick a higher PG juice such as 90PG/10VG. Vegetable Glycerin is also very thick in comparison to Propylene Glycol. People who find they are sensitive to PG often go for juices that are as close as possible or are 100% VG.

After reading above it may make more sense on why mixing these two together helps create a great juice. When just beginning get a few of different ratios to see what you like best. As a reminder, cartomizers have a difficult time going beyond 30-35% VG because it is very thick.

There is also nicotine mg you will see as an option. For pack a day smokers 24mg is typically reccomended. You may want to try a few 18mg as well, if 24mg is too strong.

For more options on where to buy your juice, scroll down to see many of the ECF verified vendors from the main forum page. There are also juice reviews to help give you a better idea of what you may or may not like when trying to decide.

Ordered 1 test pack of Smok TEK 1.7. cartos and they were all dead in 5 days. As for the Smok TECH 1.7 cartos I LOVE them BUT they are also having QC issue and unless you can find the older version be aware they are also hit and miss. Myself I don't know as I have 450 old version ST 1.7 on hand. Price was too much- .75.6 cents each. I'm presently recommending either Stardust or Vivi Nova until Boge and ST resolve thier QC issues.

The juice has menthol in it so you don't have to add anything.

The only problem with the Dark City Vapor KGO kit is the same problem with a lot of kits from other vendors that include cartos with the kit - i.e., the cartomizers that come with the kit are terrible. But that's a $5.00 item, so it's no big deal. If you want to use cartomizers, just order a 5-pack of SmokTek 1.7ohm low resistance cartomizers.

Still researching with the info I personally received from my fellow ECF members and through a general search of the forum, but can anyone tell me if this is a good site and if the Riva is good for a first time user? There is a sale on this Riva product but don't want to buy it if its a piece of crap thats going to break in a day or 2. TIA

Assuming that you want to maintain the size and feel of a tobacco cigarette, the Volt is the best way to go. All of their batteries are regulated, which makes for a consistant vape until it needs a recharge, and sealed. The cartridges for the cigarette style will also fit on their larger batteries and the equipment for the larger batteries will fit on the smaller batteries. So either way you go, everything is still useable. Trying to start on a larger battery may sound attractive financially, but it generally, not always, results in reverting back to tobacco simply because the battery is too large to be convenient. The goal is to get off of tobacco, for health or any other reason, not to start out as an experienced vaper. I smoked, up to 3 packs a day, for about 50 years, and have stopped using a Volt, a so-called mini that is large in performance. Smokeless Image has low cost kits, about $20 as well as more expensive ones. If you want to give it a try, I think you'll be pleased plus their customer support is excellent.

Hi awsum,

No, I'm not concerned about the size since I've smoked different nicotine cigarettes, cigars and pipes of all shapes and sizes as long as they had menthol added.

That looks like a good deal, but I have never personally bought from that site. I have bought this same Riva at Liberty-Flights for $5 more and it came with 2 atomizers instead of the one atty in the kit you found. I personally loved my Riva, until the old man took it for himself. I never had any problems with mine from l.f., and they are a really good vendor to buy from. Good luck!

The "addicts being cornered" thing made me laugh too :) Sounds like we're in the same boat...Sooo much information here, every time I think I've decided I end up second guessing myself and doing more research. Have you checked out The Vaper's Handbook yet? Contains alot of helpful information, made it all seem alot less confusing for me. Anyway, good luck to you whatever you decide.

Ok, my fiancee was able to sit down with me and we went over all the info I put aside. The Ego Twist seems to be the one. Some questions before I buy though. I'll have a good $20 to $40 left over from purchasing the kit. Can anyone tell me what I should get with it, cartomizer, atomizer, etc. Don't know how to use them yet, but they seem to be things that will enhance my vaping experience so would like to try them. Also, how many I should get and are there any extra parts I should get in case one breaks and I can't continue to vape without it.

TIA

I just got the volt...so I have 1 day of experience...so I'm not a pro. I was just like you...but the posts here helped me hit the buy now button. Yeah, attys, clearos, cartos, carts, bats, yada yada...it's all so confusing. All I can offer is that I'm enjoying my volt...but with the extra juice, 2 bats, it ran me just under $60. Look around here for a discount code (I used SIVOLT50) and you'll save some (15% I think). I don't know yet if I made the right choice...but I think I made a good one.

Please dont buy a large amount of anything until you tryed it , and there is still junk in the market. you didnt say what your buying....the ego twist is a battery, and my 3 day old one is having a sticky button issue.

it's a lot of info, but the longer you vape and more you learn the more you will enjoy vaping. don't give up! i feel like it's impossible to "waste" money vaping. even if you don't like something, you tried it and trying helps you quit analogs. every cig you smoke only hurts you and is the true waste of money.

don't worry about your family or anyone else thinks. you quit for yourself not them. so do it whatever way you want!!!

No I haven't read it, thanks for the link. I've come across some stuff on the forum but when I go back I can't remember where I found it lol. Like I think I saw a part of the site where vendors list deals and stuff, but now I can't remember where that was. I have a very bad short term memory though. :)

The extras you will need will depend on what is included in the kit you pick. For example, if you picked this kit (http://www.sweet-vapes.com/shop?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_color_plus.tpl&product_id=1204&category_id=38), it includes 2 Twist batteries, 2 clearomizers, a case and a charger. All you would need to add would be some juice, although I would also suggest buying an atomizer (such as http://www.sweet-vapes.com/shop?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_color_plus.tpl&product_id=299&category_id=20), a 5-pack of standard resistance cartomizers (such as http://www.sweet-vapes.com/shop?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_color_plus.tpl&product_id=978&category_id=21 ) and a couple of drip tips.

Oh, and don't forget to order some juice. None of the hardware will do you any good without juice.

To avoid confusion when ordering cartomizers, clearomizers, drip tips, etc., remember that the Twist uses a 510 connection (not an 808, 901 or other connection).

I checked litecig for you and they dont appear to carry a ego-twist kit. I also checked Pappy 's link and if you really want to try the ego-twist this seems to be a good thing to buy. the company has a telephone no. listed if you need to ask ? what they list in the kit is "cartomizer" but the picture shows a long wick "clearomizer". If its a authentic Vision clearomizer I think it will work for you. Im switching between it, a cartomizer and ego-c and they all work just slightly different. the piont is they work. and at this size, that is, what is called a mid-size e-cig the batteries last longer than the mini's; which is why i didnt choice a mini .

You've been incredibly patient and have shown alot of perseverance to wade through all of these mixed opinions that folks are throwing your way!

I remember my first few weeks and how my head was spinning with info overload and analysis paralysis.

You will have made a good choice if you choose a KGO, Riva, E-power or a Twist. Any of them should have more than enough power to get you off of the smokes.

The reason that I now recommend the Twist over the KGO to start with (I have both) is because the KGO comes off of the charger at around 4.2 volts and then drops from there as the battery runs down. The voltage will affect the heat being sent to the cartomizer/atomizer/clearomizer that you put on it. With the KGO, you have no control over the amount of heat that the carto/attie/clearo gets. With the Twist, if it's too hot (juice is tasting burnt or vapor is too warm), you can just dial down the voltage.

And keep in mind that you may be using these batteries for 6 months or more. So consider what you're spending now as an investment towards several months of being smoke free.

I have 3 KGOs and one finally died after 7 months of constant daily use. Rather than getting another KGO, I got a Twist to check it out. I was so happy with it that I bought a Twist kit from vapors-choice.

The Twist kit at vapors-choice.com comes with the charger & wall adaptor, a 15 mil bottle of juice, a case and 2 Excalibur tanks for $56. They're called Revives or E1s at other vendors. The Excaliburs are easy to fill, easy to clean and have replacable heads so you don't have to buy a whole new tank.

Add a 5 pack of CE3s for $8.50 and a 5 pack of Boge cartomizers for $5.00. You may want to choose a 2nd bottle of juice while you're at it. With that kit and the extras, you would be off to a really good start. I haven't found any better priced Twist kits so far. Hopefully that's within your price range?

Congratulations on researching everything! If you get the kit with the 2 batts I PM'ed you earlier, then you really don't need too much at all. I would suggest 1) a second mains charger as the battery imo is a bit too hefty voltage to be plugging into your computer to recharge. The Twist set up is so well regarded that it doesn't need much else. The clearomizer is an "all-in-one" version of the thing that makes the vapor (atomizer) and the thing that holds the juice (the cartridge or tank). It's called a clearomizer because you can see how much juice you have in it. You don't have to worry about filler. It's a "tank" in that respect. 2) I would definitely suggest that you buy several of those (maybe the smaller 1.6 ml sizes so you can test run several juices at one time rather than buying e.g.a 6 ml (my terminology - "giantomizers" and having to rinse out the 1 or 2 constantly. I personally would suggest the Kanger clearomizers (I use 100% VG and these clearos don't leak or crack like the stardusts did more frequently for me), and the Excaliber clearomizers as every part is available to be completely broken down to clean, and all bits can be purchased seperately to rebuild. It may well be a cheaper option to buy several complete clearomizers and some extra "bottoms" "tops" and " tanks" than tossing an entire clearomizer away every week or so, vs to replace, for example, "the tank bit" The other thing about clearomizers is that while they're easy to fill, you may need 3)a syringe to get the juice out of the bottle and into the sides of the clearos. (You dont want to get juice in the centre post because that's the airflow thingie). 4) If you can't read tiny numbers without reading glasses or a magnifier, then get one or t'other, because the "variable voltage" on the Twist is a dial at the bottom of the battery. You can turn the dial from 3.2 volts (cooler) to 4.8 volts (warmer). Seeing the numbers can be helpful till you're used to it. JUICE: 4) This is the BIG ONE! Order much and often from different juice vendors and order their "sampler packs" till you find THE flavors that will happily replace the cigarettes. Go with your own tastes - if you like "dark" flavors then try anise/coffee/tobacco flavors. If you like dessert flavors, then try those. Always do a google search for the vendor to see is they have a discount code available. Check ECF's "Deals and Steals" thread to see if there is a very special offer on. Check the thread "Top 5 vendors" or if you really have a passion for menthol or strawberry, then search within ECF for "menthol" or "strawberry" or "favorite flavor". There's lots of recommendations here. Order several juices straightaway - your kit will only be great to the extent that you love the flavors you're inhaling. Also order small bottles with eg 24 mg nicotine, 18 mg and 12 mg nicotine levels. This bit is important because you don;t want too much nicotine - it can make your heart race and make you feel lightheaded, and you certainly don't want too little. Your object is to quit the cigs. Also order small bottles with varying PG/VG content (dropdown boxes will appear when you go to the vendor's site and select your juice for nicotine strengths and PG/VG strengths so you can find what works best for you. Sorry for the ramble - but this will be your project for tomorrow - buying juice so you have the options when your kit gets here at about the same time. Keep us updated!

Good grief - that's my sermon for the day. Sheesh!

PS - Doggone it - I forgot something. Order your clearomizer in the 2.0 to 2.4 ohms range for the eGo Twist. OK, I believe I'm done now......

but then again.....

LOL
