"batteries like these are a tragedy waiting to happen.
Take care of your batteries or we'll see you on the news. I confiscated these from a vaping friend. Follow Mooch & Daniel Batista on FB and Youtube. If you're local to Central Mass and need a rewrap or have hacked/missing insulators then bring them over and I'll rewrap them for free."

The importance of being keyed into the state of our batteries cannot possibly be overstated.

I have one of the 510 pass throughs in a drawer someplace. Don't think I'd care to plug a tank into it.

I have a few of those, too. I've only tried 1 and it still works great. I assume the NIB ones do, too, but I don't know for sure.

They're still for sale on several websites, too!

Remember that silly little "Drive" thing (or some name like that) someone came out with? Little disc looking thing, designed strictly for use in cars.

Hey...watch what you're callin' "that silly little Drive thing"! :p I have 4 of those Innokin kits now (3 NIB), and I know at least 2-3 other people have bought at least 1 each in the last 8-10 months.

1 of mine came in really handy after Hurricane Irma. I could at least sit in my car and vape every now and then. Gas stations were regularly out of gas for everyone's generator and/or had gas but no power to pump it. My batteries and any backups were drained, and there was no way to charge them for several days.

If it wasn't for "that silly little Drive thing"...I'd have been pulling my hair out. It was after that experience with Irma, that I started buying a few more for the stash.

Absolutely, but those are laptop cells that the guy was trying to revive, and he states that the voltage of that cell was 1.13V before he tried to charge it.

OK, I admit, I've also attempted to revive dead laptop cells -- but just to see if I could; not to actually use them for anything!

LOL! No offense intended, JC. If I went down the list of all the things I own and use that I have in same category, we'd be here all night. Just because I think something's silly doesn't meant I won't/don't use it regularly.

My biggest fear is that battery technology will move on and that alone will make 18650s, 20700s etc hard if not impossible to find. The Anti vaping campaign doesn't have to do anything. Technology will do it for them.
There are millions of flashlights in active duty that use 18650, laptop battery packs, power tool battery packs, electric cars, and a big host of other things.

They aren't going anywhere.

You reminded me of when Pegasus Vapor Academy featured a very ...... off Daniel DJLSD and his leaky Efest battery (2015). It started leaking & bubbling (venting) at 14A. They were rated at 35A. He was livid.
PVA's rundown on the situation

DJLSD's original 2015 Efest video. Warning - Not for the easily offended.

Now yes.

In 10, 20 or 30 years? No telling.

A friend and myself built a desk top pass through station from schematics off the web. We were making jokes about end times and how we could sit in the rubble of civilization and vape.
One night we were working away and chatting and the power went out. So much for using our vape station in post apocalyptic times.
About 18months ago he started reverse engineering the Innokin Drive and we started making something similar for camping and just in case moments. While we were working our way through it I hit buy now on 3 of the units. It was a funny moment, we were so caught up in the activity of what we were doing that just hitting buy now on multiples of the item didnt occur to us. We shelved the project and bought the last 2 we could find online locally. Tried one to make sure it worked and packed them away.

I don't know that I will live another 10 years so other than retirement plans I don't worry about things that far into the future.

I certainly hope I do and I'm not that old but I'm old enough it's a possibility.

In all fairness, nobody really knows if they will live another 10 years.

Uh, I am totally aware I could die any second and have been for some time. Have even craved it.

I don't care though, if I go out , I will go out with enough nic in my freezer to last me until 100.

I should make a nic will so the husband can send care packages, though. Not to mention all my gear which he should really sell to pay for funeral expenses, well I guess my kid could do that. He is good at repair AND selling stuff.

Yup the kid gets the gear.

Touché my friend

At least we no longer smoke, that has certainly gave us a better chance at longer life.

Not only longer but immeasurably healthier not tethered to an O2 tank, three a year hospital admission, inhalers, nebulizers, chest percussions an on and on.

That sounds pretty much like what my dad went through. It started with one visit one year and got to be more each year. He was a career smoker. I remember him smoking Viceroy cigarettes and the occasional pipe growing up. He did make it to 80 though. Just the last 5-7 years weren't very enjoyable.

i believe, truly, that we're all allotted a certain amount of time on Earth and that smoking or not won't affect how long we live. Of course, that's not science; it's a belief based on observation & faith. What we can know with certainty is that smoking or not can impact the quality of our lives, however long they turn out to be. And THAT is what makes vaping so awesome. A shame your father didn't have access to it in his day. A shame our children or grandchildren may not have access to it in theirs.

You could have your nic buried with you. Like the Egyptian Pharaohs had all their stuff buried with them so they would have it the afterlife. Maybe have your husband buried with you as well. Course he might not agree with that idea, don't know how tight your relationship is :sneaky:

Well, hittman, there is no appropriate 'button' to punch. I understand, in my early years I was a respiratory therapist and I saw many of those final years, I know that it was not enjoyable for you to watch. I wanted to enjoy that time remaining and I am doing so. I thank vaping and the ECF for showing the way.
