I'm getting a nasty taste from Ody as well as others.

I have some 92% (184 proof) "shine" made from sugar, not corn, that has been soaking in carbon for 10+ years that I'll use in my ultrasonic cleaner as mentioned in an earlier post. That'll do the trick. Only my Ody would deserve such a luxurious bath.

The key good results and keeping the sides parallel:
Light pressure
Let the file do the work
"Cut" in one direction only

Watch the edges of the files if they have teeth/abrasive

Thanks for all the tips Para! I will definitely keep them all in mind... Just one question; I'm not sure I understand exactly what ""Cut" in one direction only" means. Are you suggesting to not go up and down with the file through the channels but to only choose to either go only up or only down with every stroke? Thanks.

I would like to find a good cleaner.... I can't seem to find Everclear here in Florida!! Suggestions?

High Octane Everclear is outlawed in Florida Bruce, one of the few things you can't get ;)

Hot water and a sonicare toothbrush (with an old head) is by far superior in my experience. Puts my $100 ultrasonic cleaner to shame!

I started getting compliments on how white my teeth were just 2 weeks after using the toothbrush too ;)

Well, this is just fantastic. I'm really enjoying everything about my Odysseus, a 1.2 ohm coil w/an AW 18350 IMR is ridiculously good.
The Ody is really fun to just take apart and marvel at how it all works together- it's another winner for sure!
I did get some of the soapy taste at first that's been mentioned- milling oil does make sense as the source..
Taking it apart and doing a round in the ultrasonic with PGA (had to go to Iowa for it lol)as recommended did clear it up well.

Has anyone had difficulty getting the ceramic out of the metal piece that surrounds it?
I just wanted to make sure I clean every nook and cranny of it lol..but I can't seem to get the ceramic out just yet.

I'm kind of torn... I got the SS Stealth cap specifically for the ODY and I love the way the two look together. But I've been going back and forth all day today trying different setups and I think I actually prefer using the collector tank with a rethreader and a 901-510 adapter the most. I really like being able to tighten up the draw a little when using the ODY.

I wasn't getting a good seal between the ODY and and the collector tank but an o-ring took care of that. I don't exactly like the look of the o-ring but it will get the job done temporarily until the ODY base for GGs comes in.

This is how I've been using it for a couple of hours and I think I'll stick with this setup for a little bit:

One of mine was like that....stuck. I believe it's some metal shavings from cutting the threads. Under 10x power I could see some really fine shavings. What I did was spray the threads with penetrating oil and let it set for a couple of hours. Then, worked it back and forth slowly and it loosened up fairly quickly. Once apart; a really good cleaning and it's smooth as silk.

Sounds good, Rick. Funny how in a pretty laid back attitude on most things... Everclear is the one outlawed. LOL!

Yeah, but blue laws are very strange all over the country. Florida is even stranger because it varies by county for most of the bar laws. But high proof (over 151 proof) alcohol is banned across the state. I thought it was a little strange myself, I was trying to get some a year ago to make shellac with (for French polishing) but quickly found out it's unavailable

My USPS tracking says my Ody is "Out for Delivery". Sweet!! Mailman doesn't come until 4-430PM so I have to wait until then. This is another one of those times when I wish I was at the beginning of my postman's route and not the end.

I may also have an "extra" Odysseus that I will let go to a family member here on GG. I had already ordered my Odysseus' when I found out that the samples were still going to be sent out. Didn't want to miss out so I stalked COV and got my order in right after Bruce posted them. I'm a cautious fellow in that way.

Anyway my over ordering will now be someone's belated Christmas present. I know there were several regular family members here who missed out on the Odysseus.

Some of the names of folks first on my mind who I had been talking to about Ody were: Ace73, Rick45, Major, Fright, Blackwater, Torqueguy, Vapor, Poppa, Chaos, and a few others. I haven't read alot of forums these last several days what with the holiday and all. A quick peek at the forum here and it seems all these folks already have at least one Odysseus either on hand or in-bound. Don't know about Major for sure. I read that he didn't get one but he recently may have?

Anyway, barring some weirdness with my orders where they aren't complete, I'll have a complete Odysseus to offer.

Since the first run is gone, and many have been talking very highly of Odysseus, I should be able to at least double my money for the Odysseus, right? LOL. Inside joke. Odysseus will sell for regular price. ;)

Repent, hope you don't mind adding me to your wishlidt on to whom you'll sell your spare Ody to. Since I'm one of the unlucky ones who missed the first batch.. Maybe you could have like a lotto drawing-like for it? Guess I wish everyone goodluck! :D

I've been using the Odysseus for 12 hours now, its working very nicely. There has been a learning curve, posted here.

1: Clean it first.
2: I lowered the ohms from 1.4 (iAtty) to 1.2 at 3.7 volts.
3: I doubled the wick to 2 strands, instead of 1 (iAtty).
4: Having the air control is a big asset, air flow is very good with Odysseus.

Lots of positives to note.
Superior design, super slick and clean in a small package.
The Odysseus delivers more flavor and vapor.
A big PLUS to the liquid control, very convenient.
The coil and wick installation is a breeze, impossibly easy. The extra space in the ceramic helps so much, as do the new wire connectors.
The size is a good fit to the GGTS.

This is a fog machine, and we have more coming in a few short weeks, WOW.

I'm going to wait till I've had some more time with this to do a video and/or more thorough review, but initial thoughts thus far... First of all, this is an amazing little device. I was a CE2 tank lover for a LONG time, and when you get down to brass tacks, this is basically the best CE2 tank ever designed - rebuildable.

There is definitely an art to the coil. My first one was weak. Too much wire, and wrapped with the coils too far apart. Nice and tight is definitely the way to go. Have done it 5 times tonight, and feel like I'm getting the hang of it.

Also had taste issues, and still trying to get that odd taste totally gone. I didn't start trying to clean until this evening, so no liquor stores open (for PGA), and I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, but may look into getting one tomorrow. Even after two VERY thorough cleanings with soap, scalding hot water and an electric toothbrush, I'm still getting the same taste. Less prominent, but its still there.

Very airy draw on a stealth cap. REALLY looking forward to the top tubes coming back in stock so I can grab that and a collector tank to get air control going.

All that aside though, this thing can really pump out some vapor. Having SO MUCH FUN learning how it works. Rebuilding the atty takes some practice to get good at, but once you get good at it, can be very satisfying. I also love just openng it up and looking at all the parts... watching them do their thing. This is a truly ingenious design Imeo. Hats off to you sir.
