If you're experiencing leaking from the pole, try this:
Before you screw the rebuildable part of Odysseus to the base, pull the little o-ring of the pole to the lowest position.
Then, as you screw it to base, watch for this o-ring to be placed right and seal the opening of the base, where the pole comes out. If you screw with the o-ring at a position close to metal part of the rebuildable, then the opening of the base (where the pole goes) will not be sealed, causing leaking.
Another way to seal this opening is to screw the rebuildable part to the base until the metal part of the rebuildable push the little o-ring of the pole to base, but with this method you will have a big part of the pole out of the base (which is something I don't like very much).
Anyway the point is that with the old base the o-ring would easily seal the opening because there was a "tube" which is now gone and we have to make sure that this o-ring will be placed in the right position.
This worked for me very well.
Of course be sure to screw very well the metallic ring on the rebuildable part, check it to be as close to the base as possible.
