What would be interesting is an autopsy of a dead atomiser from someone who stricly never used an oils at any time, to see if the coil gunge is still there or not. If it is still there then it must have a different source.

I am surprised to hear it's glass fibre ..I didn't know they made glass fibre that can be made white hot without melting
This is what Janty use for the wick:

This thread is a good one for discussion on what's in atomisers - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...anufacturers-suppliers-whats-my-atomizer.html

We really need to find out if it is some special type of glass fibre or not. It never occured to me that asbestos might be used - now there's something to worry about !
If anyone had a link to info it would be Kate.....lol.....I still want my Katle toolbar.![]()
Seconded
I did a surface-chemical analysis (XrayPhotoelectronSpectrosopy)
analysis on my cleaned DSE901 (TW) atomizer wick (& coil).
Absolutely definitely silicon dioxide (silica - glass), clear result,
I'll dig up something postable.
It's hard to believe you aren't techie kate...you can remember and collate info like a human encyclopaedia!.I'd get to work on making you a Katle toolbar but I'm not much of a techie I'm afraid
That's very interesting information Exo, please could you post about it on this thread where it won't get so easily lost, thanks - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...anufacturers-suppliers-whats-my-atomizer.html
I was reading that glass fibre was ok up to 1000 degrees C, Pete. It's even better than Kevlar but there also might be a worry about fibres being inhaled.
