I for one would expect any build up on the coils to be a very 'even' deposit of a carbon type nature, it doesn't make any sense to have irregular 'lumps' of shiny black stuff..........I still believe those black 'lumps' could be some of the polyester type material in the carts getting onto the atomizer.......I am experimenting at the moment with my latest atomizer making sure that none of that material can possibly be getting onto the atomizer and causing those thick lumps. ......I know the wick rope type material in the centre of the coil doesnt burn or melt, I have put it in a gas jet and turned it white hot..and all that did was to clean it. (worryingly it might be made of asbestos)

It's glass fibre.

Also forgot to add a pretty picture of all Loranne flavours:
(sort of goes with my last flavour-list spreadsheet post)

btw this forum has a massive posting rate, finding it hard to keep up, lol
I am surprised to hear it's glass fibre ..I didn't know they made glass fibre that can be made white hot without melting

What would be interesting is an autopsy of a dead atomiser from someone who stricly never used an oils at any time, to see if the coil gunge is still there or not. If it is still there then it must have a different source.

I would go with the second link in Kate's post. That is from trog....who I doubt uses Lorann's....lol

If anyone had a link to info it would be Kate.....lol.....I still want my Katle toolbar.:)

Seconded :)

I did a surface-chemical analysis (XrayPhotoelectronSpectrosopy)
analysis on my cleaned DSE901 (TW) atomizer wick (& coil).

Absolutely definitely silicon dioxide (silica - glass), clear result,
I'll dig up something postable.

wow interesting...I wonder what temperature it melts at .....there is certainly no chance of it melting or burning in the atomizer.

I'd get to work on making you a Katle toolbar but I'm not much of a techie I'm afraid ;)

That's very interesting information Exo, please could you post about it on this thread where it won't get so easily lost, thanks - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...anufacturers-suppliers-whats-my-atomizer.html

I was reading that glass fibre was ok up to 1000 degrees C, Pete. It's even better than Kevlar but there also might be a worry about fibres being inhaled.

It's hard to believe you aren't techie kate...you can remember and collate info like a human encyclopaedia!.

Found the DSE901 atomizer (from TW) analysis data:

AtomizerImage.jpg

AtomizerAtomicPercent.jpg

Fibre details:

fibre is silicon dioxide = glass fibre

Coil wire details:

Wire is nichrome 0.1mm (estimated from image above)

Exo ..a post like that should be on some kind of factsheet rather than in a thread, wonder if something like that can be done. A place for all known 'facts' about vaping.
