So I haven't posted here in forever but I read it daily and have read every post in the original thread. I am a professional lurker...

I still haven't touched a stinky since May 19th 2012 and it continues to amaze me how easy it was for me. I have made it my mission to help other smokers switch. I have had 5 complete converts and many partial conversions. I still prefer the 14500/14650 size batteries so Kgo Ego are my main batteries but I do have 2 mechanical mods in that size (something that will always work in case of the apocalypse ya know). Kanger T2 and T3 are still my go to toppers but thanks to you fine folks I have tried the Davide which I like but am afraid of since my first ProTank met an untimely demise on a tile floor.

Thank you for all the amazing stories and advice you have given me without ever knowing it!

Hey Dani, nice of you to pop in. Glad to hear you're doing well with your vaping. Mike is always looking for the next best thing so at least I get to try them out before spending money on them and I have been surprised to find that I do like some devices I never thought I would, but there's so much new stuff coming out all the time! Still, I always have my Riders handy. Nothing wrong with sticking with what works and you feel comfortable with.

Being 67, here's my updated story:

Started smoking full time as an 18 y.o. in basic training ('65)... mostly 1.5 to 2+ PaD ever since.

Eighteen years ago I quit cold turkey by my own choosing. Day-um, I was miserable. After four weeks I told my bride that I was thinking about starting smoking again. She encouraged, "Give it a while longer." Well, six weeks later, after gaining 27 pounds and making life miserable for everyone around me; family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances AND strangers, I told my bride that I was gonna start smoking again. Her response, "Please do!"

My three daughters, young teens at that time, have since then told me that those ten weeks were the worst in their lives. WHOA! Well, I knew I HAD to quit but didn't want to put anyone through my misery again. HOT DAY-UM, found the ECF site and made a few well informed purchases, thanx to the wonderful folk here. The eGo batt and eGo Mega dual coil cartomizers did the job. Granted, I’m beyond the eGo combo, but that’s ‘nother story!

Here I am after 46 years of my ol' nasty smoking habit, 33 months in on a freakin' fantastic journey; tobacco free, no stomped kittens, no road rage AND no being a b*tch with balls! And I'm one of the lucky vapers in that my first vape was the absolute end to my 'bakky habit and desires.

As for my e-cig health benefits:

- Lower blood pressure - 15 pt drop in both systolic & diastolic
- Higher O2 absorption - 92% to 99%
- 'Clean' chest x-ray after a past indication of emphysema
- Healthier gums/whiter teeth - as per dentist
- No more nose soot/lung wads in the AM
- No more colds. Used to get 'em at least once a year that hung on with major coughing and chest congestion. Last year I had a runny nose for three days... no cold. Prior to vaping, that would have developed into a major chest cold battle.
- No longer having the occasional mild night time anxiety episode due to breathing difficulties
- Higher sensitivity to the salt in processed foods. And to think I would add salt in my 'bakky days.
- Higher IQ - hey, I did quit smoking!

Oh man, I hear you on that ! Last night I got a jacket out of the closet and the thing smelled so bad I couldn't wear it. They are all going in the washer or to the dry cleaner today.
I have a leather jacket that stank so bad!! I really have a deep affection for that jacket, because I got it from the family of a woman who had died from drugs. So instead of going to Goodwill (they usually have nice ones for about $20) I took it to the cleaners for $50.

I started smoking at nineteen. I was able to quit during pregnancies and nursing my babies, for them, and for the oxytocin. So I knew that habit substitution would work. My curiosity grew, and finally I got my first Cig2O. That was the last time I smoked. From there I went to Volt and MBV. I rarely order from them any more, usually it is Wizard and Discount Vapers.

Having been a giant binky, I experience no embarrassment in calling my PV a binky.

The illness I mention in my sig was severe dizziness and nausea, connected with my hearing loss, and called Meniere's disease. Without cigs, I am hoping to have usable hearing for the rest of my life. I have some 6mg for emotional emergencies, but rarely use it.

Having a little trouble finding the "right" strength liquid, but fortunately the number is going down instead of up

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think that the nicotine is that much of an issue. I had to go up after I started to get rid of the last couple of cigarettes, then I went down some since I was having trouble getting to sleep at night. Now I'm back to the high end because of the house fire. At least my yoyoing means that I have lots of choice now.:D

So sorry to hear the damage was so extensive. An apartment would be so much better than being stuck in a single room at a motel. At least your pup will have distractions and attention at a kennel instead of being alone in the house. One of the nice things about vaping is that we don't have to worry about how close the nearest door to the outsid

Thanks. It isn't even that the structural damage is so bad, but it's an old North Dakota farmhouse (on the opposite end of the state from all the oil growth) so the value of it wouldn't even make a down payment most places. The contents are insured for replacement value, but the building just for sale value.

Yes, the dog is a lot better off at the kennel, but I still feel guilty.

One advantage of the fire is that they have to clean and deoderize everything in the house.

That's a nice organizer for keeping next to your favorite chair. It's funny how often when we're out that we look at things in relation to vaping. One time i remember us checking out a toothbrush holder. I was pulling my devices out of my purse to see how they'd fit.

Yes, though I actually looked for this one. It holds more than it looks like. I've got over a dozen 18 ml bottles on the shelf over the drawer, there must be close to 30 samples in the drawer (part of what I like about Vaperite is the sample with every bottle you buy), and the pencil bin holds a lot of junk. The only things that don't fit are the toppers, and I have a square glass box that is perfect for those.

Wow, how nice! I've never ordered form Vaperite before, but it's nice to know they can get the orders out quickly!

Yes, it usually takes them a couple of days to mix and ship. I've been pretty happy with them all along, but this tops it off. They have a lot of basic flavors, and you can choose pg/vg ratio and nicotine levels. They also let you build your own sampler, which is how I found them originally.

I don't like sweet flavors, so I was having a heck of a time finding what I like. They don't do a lot of the fancy blended flavors and I'm just starting to try those out. I can't open childproof bottles, so that rules out a lot of sellers.

So does my snazzy new signature block show? All I can see is the code.

I know that one. On my first serious quit attempt I didn't even have to ask. My husband and daughter said it was great that I was trying to quit, but they just couldn't live with me unless I started smoking again!

I see just code, too.

Thanks. Dang, I liked that one, too. I'm terminally honest, so I've been trying to find one that just referred to when I started vaping, not when my last cigarette was, since it took me awhile to actually drop the last cigarettes. And I can't become a supporting member since I don't do PayPal after some problems that I had with them.

Use the BB code

Thanks, but I thought that that was what I'd done. I'll give it another shot later.

Thanks for mentioning that! I would Gladly donate to ECF if it were possible without using PayPal.

I am new, but old (70), so it is nice to see this part of the forum where there are other folks like me. I have smoked since I was about 17, with pauses here and there, but always went back to the"dark side." When I started smoking (Kents!), cigarettes were 25 cents a pack. Of course I was living on an allowance from my parents (and sneak smoking) so I guess that was expensive then, too. I remember when everyone smoked, just like in Mad Men. I worked at Westinghouse for a few years and every cubicle came with an ashtray and the ashtrays on each floor were coordinated with the walls/carpeting of that floor. There was always a haze in the air. I have been REALLY lucky in that I have no health issues, although I will say that every time I go to the doctor for anything they say it would go away if only I stopped smoking. I really decided to quit "for real" and try vaping because since I retired (a) I find myself smoking 2 packs a day and (b) that fixed income thing doesn't work so well with cigarettes being $6.73/pack at the local Walmart. So for the last 15 days I have vaped and I have no desire whatsoever for a cigarette. Hoping it stays that way because I have a houseful of dogs who need vet care and grooming and not smoking should pay for most of that. Glad to have found this group and for sure will read the previous iteration of posts. Thanks for being here.

Congrats on your first half-month!!!
Save a bit of money each week/month extra and get into DIY. Your liquid can go down to less than $1 per 10 ml !!

Here is an odd bit that I maybe never mentioned to all of you

Before I joined I read the entire thread.

I wish I had done that.

I've been vaping for about 6 months. I "jumped into" this thread around post #18,000 and just read from there on.

Now...thanx to the initial posts C/P'd by MikeE3...I see that at the beginning there were many recommendations to try cartotanks.

Had I read them I could have saved 5 months of time and $'s searching for the "next, best" clearo only to, one month ago, finally try my first cartotank. (And I've never looked back!!!)

Vapemail today :D Received a couple of PT bottoms with the air controller built in. I LIKE them. They are a bit heavier than just the bottom but that is to be expected. I don't "cloud chase" per se but adding a little air to a ecig drag is not the worst experience I've ever had! I have been known to add a drop or two or three extra of VG to whatever I'm making to punch up "the cloud" but now with a little extra air I don't have to do that.

Do you find you taste the juice better in some places than in others? Like if I'm outside on smoking break and it's windy I don't seem to taste it as well as I do in my house with no wind or breeze... maybe it has something to do with smell...

Yep, know what you mean. I didn't like to smoke cigars outside because of that. Never had any problem with those little white things in the wind though.
