Now i have no idea how my two coils ended up at 1Ω.
Hang on - ok I know they were 8 wraps each 2.5mm so -- oh wait I used the coil engine dual coils and put resistance at 1Ω and it said 8 wraps and i was thinking each coil was 1Ω and the two together in parallel would get me to 1Ω.

So what was the resistance of each of my two coils to get to the 1Ω total.

Sure this must be easier once you have grasp on it.

Right, 8/9 wraps of 29gauge Kanthal at 2.5mm is 2Ohms. Two 2Ohm coils in parallel nets out at 1Ohm.

Ok using your formula I got that result.

I thought it was half the resistance so 1Ω + 1Ω = 2Ω and halved = 1Ω.

Yet to simplify it then they were 2Ω coils so 1/2 = 0.5 1/2 = 0.5 added together = 1 then 1 / 1 = 1 so 1Ω.

Or yes each individual coil is double the end result - so my 1Ω each coil is 2Ω.

Yes before i was wondering why are you joining two 2Ω coils together and not just have a 4Ω coil.

Sorry, I received a warning from admin. I think I may just boot myself from the forum. Or refrain from posting.

PLEASE, do not leave. Think of it as a merit badge. :D You are not in trouble, you were just informed of the rulz so you stay out of trouble. I didn't think you'd get a second look for that since it was a question. What they do not like is people being cute trying to evade the censors especially if the post has a nasty tone to it. Essentially you just got initiated as one of the gang. :)

Two 1Ohm coils in parallel should total to 0.5Ohms, and two 1Ohm coils in series should total to 2Ohms. The only way you can combine two 1Ohm coils and get 1Ohm total is if one of them isn't in the circuit (see my picture in the previous message). Here's the actual formula for calculating resistance for parallel coils:

Most of the coils we make for vaping are "balanced" and both R1 and R2 are the same value. So, it usually works out that you can just divide R1 by 2 to get the resistance for dual coils in parallel, but the formula is more general than that. For example, if you had a 1Ohm coil in parallel with a 3Ohm coil, the total resistance would be 1(1/1 + 1/3), which is 0.75Ohms.

Sloth, loving the visual aids! Very cool. :)

Anybody else having trouble with the site today? At the moment it says I'm not even here. Earlier it took several minutes before I could get Canno's quote to load. Now I see there is something to click if you want to go back and read the OP that someone has quoted. That's cool! Wonder how long that will last.

ETA And now I'm here in some posts (green dot by name) and not in others.

I didn't even notice the green dot until you mentioned it. Is that new, or am I just oblivious (or both)?

FastTech now carries "Authentic Muji C Rectangle Wick," "Authentic Puff B Rectangle Wick," and "Authentic OEM A Rectangle Wick."

I have no idea which of the above are more like Koh Gen Do. They're cotton pads. 5 packs are between $2-$3, so probably not that great of a price. I think you can get authentic Koh Gen Do for what, $12 for 36?

I keep telling you, KGD, 60 pads, $12 including shipping from Nordstrom's. In stock at the moment but perhaps not for long since their only review says how great it vapes. Koh Gen Do Pure Cotton Pads | Nordstrom If your post was for Wolf, never mind, but hey, tossing it out there for others.

You convinced me! I was going to buy some the first time these came up, but they were out of stock, so I just put in an order. I could probably sell half of them on eBay and make a profit on the deal ;)

Those of us who are awed by your intellect now feel better. :D

You can say that again.

Cool, they ship pretty fast. What free beauty supplies did you choose? Oh, and you will get daily beauty supply recommendations daily.

I didn't even bother with that. I know better than to try to get my wife anything other than EXACTLY what she puts on the shopping list when I'm getting anything for her. Sometimes she puts things that don't even exist on the list, and then looks all sad when I make a substitution for a real product. I'm half convinced she does it on purpose, though I can't for the life of me imagine why. I suppose I could have gotten something for myself, but then I'd have to have figured out what. Do they have any tools in the beauty supplies section? I could always use more tools.
