'Morning all! Won't say 'good' since that's all a matter of opinion.

So I'm set on the Zmax, another question for you great peeps that have been so helpful. (see how I butter ya up?)

If I was wanting to throw in a mech mod clone, not to use any time soon, but just to have when I have the knowledge to use it properly, what do you think would be a good place to start? Any particular clone that you think might be noob friendly? I really want to have 1 or 2, with batteries, put back, just in case the SHTF. :) I am serious about not letting anything interfere with my vaping.

I am sure someone will come along with thier opinions I can only give you mine on the 4 mechs (other than my REOs) that I own.

Brass Sentinel CLone from Fasttech - the switch unscrews as you use it so you are constantly tightening it up or the the locking ring won't work. I find it annoying. Consigned to the vapocalypse box.

K-100 - REALLY solid well made mech BUT the button is very hard to press for me making it painful with my arthritis

Stainless Steel Chi You clone from Fasttech - I really like this thing. Nice easy button and comfortable in the hand. However, you have to do a little fiddling with the adjustable pin when you set it up for your battery and atty. You will have to fiddle again if you change either. I don't mind as I don't change things up much. (This is where my Kayfun clone lives)

HCigar Hammer clone (won in a contest) - I absolutely LOVE this thing. VERY comfortable and super light touch button. It does have hard edges so if you are sensitive to that it might be an issue. It is not ladilike being effectively an ePipe but dang it is a nice vape. Really well made. Threading like butter.

Both my REOs are mechs and are my absolute favorites but I am guessing that is out of the ballpark.

Does it have the flavor shot?

Speaking of garage doors, mine just broke/warped half way opened. Waiting for a tech...

No - I ordered it w/ 12mg/nic and 50/50 PG/VG.

As to the Cappuccino from High Desert - been vaping that this morning and it's a decent coffee flavor. Not as impressed w/ it as the Orange Dream Bar. I like it - it has a definite coffee flavor. Janet detects a hint of chocolate. Will probably get another bottle (only bought a 10ml bottle) for a change up flav and something to compare some DIYing against - using the 'unvapeable straight up' Capella's flavoring. The flavoring is pretty clear so perhaps I can get Janet to make a 'not dark' coffee flavor.

Anybody know where we can get some 0 rings? We use the iGo L (think it's L) for tasting juices. I guess from taking the top off and on so much the rings are shot.

That's funny, I've noticed the Hammer a couple times and wondered about it. Less fiddling?

Yes, for now, the Reo is out of the range of my bank account.

Spent hours looking at nemesis, chi you, etc and in reading all the discussions it seems that nothing ever works right! If it has to be 'fixed' before every time I want to vape, I'd throw it out the window! I didn't find anything that appeared to be the slightest bit dependable.
The reason I want one, is the 'just in case'. I much prefer something I don't need to mess with, just load it up and vape. As low tech as the eGo's are, they aren't a hassle and I like that.

OK everyone, what is the most 'hassle free' mech mod? Does such a thing even exist?

The Hammer clone I have is stick the battery in and screw on the atty = done

The K100 doesn't involve alot of fiddling either once you get it telescoped for the size of your battery. I just do not like the amount of pressure the button requires. Other people have no issues with that however.

I'm also arthritic, so I can understand that. Can't even open my Gatorade without the rubber circle thingies.

How is your Reo in that aspect?

Reo is a piece of cake. The button is on top so I can hit it with my index finger or thumb (depending which way I hold it). Using a stronger finger REALLY helps as opposed to the pinky firing of the K-100, Sentinel or Chi You. It is probably a mid level of pressure.

Hammer is also an index finger button press but super light touch.

EDIT: I wimped on the bottle and jar opening and bought the black and decker electric gizmo that opens them. LOL

Just looking at the Hammer and was trying to figure out how you hit the button. You hold the 'stem' away from your face and use the index finger? Is that awkward? Still not sure how you use that. Would help, I guess, if I could see it done. Have to check Utube.

Give me a few and I will see if I can manage a photo of my hand holding it.

Thanks Myranny, Flint and Ken! My first thought was to go to Home Depot etc but didn't know if there was a special place somebody found that was better. We'll have to go out to run errands today so we'll check to see what we find and put in an order if necessary! It would be nice to get them today and it makes sense to have several back ups. :thumb:

You don't have to do that, I watched a video.

I'm guessing you use your Hammer in 350 mode? The video was done in 350 and that looks easy and simple. The pics I had seen was in 650 and that looks seriously awkward. Have you tried yours in 650?

Just did it back up to my last post I stuck it in there.

the photo is in 350 mode but the 650 isnt really awkward as it puts the bulk of the mod lower down in your palm. It is actually easier to hold onto in 650 mode.

OK, you're using an 18350 battery, right? That's great that way, but would be difficult with an 18650. That's why I asked, since they do come with tubes for the 500 and 650.

Well shoot.:(

You can still reach the switch, without it bothering you? I really like the way it looks in 350, but that would last me no time at all.

Everytime I say "good morning" to my ex, he says "Is it?" Yeah that man can make me want to chew glass. :D

Glad you know enough just to ask the questions about this stuff, I sure don't! ;) I'll be following the replies with great interest!

The 18650 is actually MORE comfortable for me since the heavy square part ends up in your palm. I just sort of cup it like men do the bowl of a pipe with my index finger on the button.

I so wish I had a close B&M store where I could go check one out. I did realize they are quite small, they look huge in the pics!

Hmmm that's interesting, going to have to give that a lot of thought, I do like the way it looks.

On the subject of mech mods, is it absolutely necessary to build your own coils to use them? Can you not use a tank right out of the box?

I really want to have everything I need and know how to use it, 'just in case'. Mech mods kinda scare me, I'll have to do a lot of studying before I feel comfortable with one.

No you do not have to use rebuildables with Mechs at all. I have stuck everything from a simple cartomizer to a protank to a carto tank to a rebuildable on mine.
