Sorry to hear about your son Omg, Hopefully he'll be ok now and into the future.

Amazing how what should be the most obvious still manages to escape us sometimes when our vaping toys aren't working as we know they should.

"toys" always do that.. vape toys, computer toys.. so many nights wasted on solving pc problems that were 10 sec fixes :x (and this is why u always get 20 standard questions when u dial a computer helpdesk ... ;p )

If I had to make just 1 guess why you got the metallic taste, I'd guess dry hit. If the clearomizer was partly empty and you had it lying on its side the coil could have drained of e-liquid. Then when you picked it up and went to vape the coil didn't wick fast enough. If there was any gunk built up on the coil it would have burnt and that taste will stick around. I'm talking about a mostly clean coil so you'd be getting a mixture of burnt and normal. If it was rather gunked up you'd be stuck with nothing but burnt taste but that isn't what you described.

Hmmm... well it wasn't lying on its side, it was [mostly] upright, propped in a coffee cup since the cord was plugged in, to use the pass-thru. However, I had just taken a hit, then took another pretty quickly, and I think I read that that can cause a dry hit, if the wick hasn't had a chance to soak up more juice. Since it was just that one, I'm thinking that might be what caused it. After that, I propped it again in the coffee cup, and the next hit tasted fine. That was why I blamed my currently-out-of-their-mind tastebuds. Although I've been a virtual addict of Twining's English Breakfast tea (no other will do!) for probably 25 yrs, now and then I take a swallow, and wonder who put battery acid in my mug. :D I hope this phase passes swiftly; it's very disconcerting to have favorite flavors suddenly turn around and bite you! 8-o

Thx!

Yes.......please........do "get started" about kicks and the "weenies" that use them. (Can't wait to hear this justification!!) View attachment 314665

Lol. I gotta confess that I WILL be one of those "weenies" of which you speak, 1wildman. (is there such a thing as a future "weenie"? :D) My main reason for being in the market for a mech is not because I really want one, but rather a precautionary purchase for the impending vapocalypse. I'm a Nervous Nellie and until I'm comfortable with running a mech, a kicking I will be. So go ahead wild man, tell me what a weenie I am; just be careful, you know how I get when I'm riled up.....:D

Washer machine floods your whole downstairs. Oh yeah they mostly come at night ... mostly

That happened to us with a water heater... 30 gallons of water soaked into the carpet -- when you hit the first floor off the staircase, the first step should NOT go "splash".... Ohhhhh the stink...

I just wanted to thank all you guys, for being here, for being the terrific bunch that you are. I've had the *grumps* all day, from leg cramps ALL night. I can't think it's from dehydration, I drank so much water and powerade yesterday that my kidneys had to be floating. All I can figure is it was just "that time" for my legs to go nuts; it seems to go in cycles. But, being 13 days smoke-free, it seems to make everything seem worse than it really is, even WITHOUT cravings. But you lovely folks always manage to make me laugh, and help me get over myself. Group hug and high-fives all round!

This evening I'm getting some tonic water to go along with my powerade. Powerade cocktails, that's the ticket! :thumb:

It was very fortunate that we were living in an apartment at the time of the water-heater disaster, so *they* had to bear the cost of replacing the water heater, getting the "power-suck" folks to come and try to get most of the water out of the carpet.

Funny thing about old carpet though... if it gets that wet, it's never going to smell good again. We put down probably 20 boxes of baking soda and just walked around on it for weeks, stomping it in *good*, till I could finally stop holding my nose.

Andria, as far as tastes go, I always drank iced tea unsweetened. Yes, I know that is blasphemous living in the south to not have sweet tea, but I'm not sweet. I steep my own, very dark and strong lipton. Week after quitting and starting vape, tea tastes bleh and even has a bad aftertaste. Dunno if that will pass, but given we need to hydrate more, I just went with water.

Gotta go with the sweet tea, Grashopper. It's an unwritten law below the Mason-Dixon. :D

I was wondering about a mech and if its more like what I'm looking for. Not really into the box mods. But then I read that the mechs can be dangerous. I have a basic understanding of Ohm's law, resistance, electronics and all, but I'm just starting to learn about batteries. Good thing I'm happy with my Zmax for the foreseeable future!

Just use IMR batteries from a reputable source and, to be even safer, use a safety fuse. Problem solved!

Now, if you're into RBAs, especially sub-ohm, there's a little more to it. But, I'm assuming that you're not going below 1.5 ohms. I believe that's the lowest resistance commonly available for regular atties, cartos, etc.

Mech mods aren't inherently more dangerous than others. The main caution is you need to learn 'by how it vapes' when the battery is getting low, 'cause there's no circuitry to tell you 'time to change the batt'. And if you discharge the batt too low, you damage the battery.

Now if you're going to build your own sub-ohm coils, now that's a different story. You'll def need to learn about battery amp ratings and how many amps your setup is going to draw. But if you're building coils above 1.2Ωs most of the popular batts will be safe to use.

I knew miss lulu would have something to say about sweet! My dear wife likes McAllisters' and chick fil a tea and purchase by the gallon. That stuff is like simple syrup!

I agree, it is like syrup -- when I eat out, I always ask for my tea half-sweet and half-unsweet. At home, I like ice tea sweet, but not terribly. My hot tea, the english breakfast that I drink all day and half the night, I drink just a little sweeter, but not too much. If it's too sweet, it gives me the same phenomenon that soda does, that feeling of "ropy" saliva. Ick. I hate it when my lips stick together, from drinking soda or anything that sweet. What's hard to believe is that I put up with it for 25 yrs or more, until I finally stopped with all the soda when I was about 31 -- after I got sober, I had to stop with all the sweet stuff, because I couldn't drink beer anymore to get rid of all that sugar in my mouth. Starting drinking my tea a lot less sweet at the same time.

I know my recent problems are just that my tastebuds don't know whether to **** or go blind, from the lack of smoke; one sip will be ACK! and the next is fine.

At least now I have some tonic water, which I'll start drinking after supper, with my powerade, so that maybe tonight I can sleep. :thumb:

I meant it tongue in cheek. I went through some nasty debates in the new members area when a guy asked about mechs and everyone was all about the kick. The beauty of the mech is the simplicity of it. If you want a regulated mod there are plenty that are easier to use. If you understand ohms law, battery safety, and have an ohm meter an straight mech is perfectly safe. To each their own I have mechs and regulated devices...just don't see the point in crossing them over. I am seriously looking at the Hades mech now it takes a 22650 battery with 50amp rating - wonder what kind of clouds I can get at 175 watts? :)

Andria I have a very dear friend that has some breathing issues and she really fights the leg cramps also. She tried 100%vg and although it helped the leg cramps was too heavy and cause more breathing issues...long story short she has found 50/50 to work the best for her. I use 50/50 as well, I don't suffer the health issues...just like it.

My preference is about 80% PG, 20% VG; since I've been having to vape higher VG, because of MFS being out of the PG Virginia I like, I constantly feel like I need to cough, but nothing comes up, it's like it's stuck. Since I'm not smoking, there's very little mucus in there, so nothing to "propel" whatever it is that's "stuck". It's funny to me that the leg cramps hit me when I'm vaping higher VG; using my regular high-PG mix, no leg cramps. But as I said, the cramps seem to come in cycles; maybe corresponding to that other monthly cycle I no longer have, I don't really know; it's been 5 yrs since I've had to deal with that.

I spoke to the people at the gym I am going to about my leg cramps, and they prescribe walking and calf muscle exercises. It has improved for me. However, I have more problems with thirst when I exercise more, so-- I drink more. I was so rigidly obsessed with "drinking" when I was an active AA, that I really didn't take in enough fluids of any kind!!

How 'bout a lil' 'Oscar Meyers' rationale just fer 'kicks'. If my Kick goes kaput, I'll toss it and still have a mech. If my VV/VW PV goes kaput, I'll toss it and still have my mech, with or without a Kick.
