Hi Metal Storm.
Which subtank mini head are you building ?

I'm just messing with the rba deck so far. Haven't looked into rebuilding an OCC. The rba is not cooperating tonight. Dry hits galore, for some reason. Glad I got a dripper to fall back on. It's so easy to work up something I can vape. Wicking one amounts to "stick some cotton in there". That's about my speed anyway.

Gotta run but I'll be back on the Porch tomorrow. It's past this boy's bedtime already.

Im finding this subtank RBA not the friendliest thing to wick.

Can get it good for half a tank then have a vape and let go of button and you hear the sound continue for a couple of seconds then very light wispy vapor after that.
Been doing it for all matter of wicking.
Doesn't get harsh ( except for when the wicks move and block the channels) just doesn't produce much vapor and the wicks are still wet when I look at it.

Nope once again good for a few then sizzling and wispy vapor. Could be the small juice holes.

I've joined the "more is better" party with respect to wicking the stm rba. I'm getting incredible vapor and flavor off my 0.8Ω twisted 28awg, main thing is to cut tails a tad long and wet them then I gently brush them back from the juice holes with a toothpick making sure they don't move when I install the chimney. Chain vaping like a champ at 15-35W!

Perhaps my wick is too thick in the coil, then bend in the wick can flick the wick at times and then block the channels. Yet too thin in the coil and when its wet it pulls the wick down and if the wick isn't filling the coil it doesn't like that.
Now its playing around like trouble wicking the juice yet still not getting harsh just playing like not enough juice getting to soak all the wick quickly enough.

The FDA just posted this on their Facebook page. Please reply to it using #Vapeingsavedmylife. And like as many of the posted replies as you can.

I've got a grey wrinkle and a copper wrinkle if that helps

Probably not then. TRA or anodized fit the 2013 cyclones sans afc

Sent from my GT-I9506 using Tapatalk

Sorry, got busy yesterday. The Cyclone will fit regardless the finish on the Reo. The Cyclone is 14mm diameter and the catch cup on the TRA Reo is 15mm and the copper vein and black wrinkle, slightly less at 14.95mm, but still plenty large enough for the atty.

Perhaps when you rewick, you could post a couple of pictures? That would be enormously helpful, if you have the time ...

Wispy muted vapor yet when I look at the wick its soaked.

Could it be you are over wicking and keeping the wick too wet under the coil. Have your tried 'upping' the watts/volts? Wondering if the sizzling is the juice not getting hot enough to vaporize.

I'm becoming pretty much absent in this thread, expending no effort to catch up when I fall behind. It's the effect of being happy enough with my current equipment that I don't have any burning desire to learn new tricks. However, I would like once again to thank those of you who tinker with coil-building for keeping me sworn off of the stuff!

yeah-but .... don't forget about the new old folks that come to the porch looking for encouragement or getting started. It's not all about the coil building here on the front porch. Your perspective about not needing to DIY coils/wicks etc, surely points to 'what works for you' is all that's necessary.

Advice taken to heart but I cannot keep up with both threads. It becomes work, and work is not on my itinerary. I'm willing to switch back and forth. Other threads outside of these two? Fuhgeddaboudit. On a side note, I miss Cavenerd. I see he's still been attending, but hasn't posted for 10 days.

I don't "get it"...

Some of our most experienced builders here, having trouble building the Sub Tank Mini... both the RBA and the OCC... and yet--

Even though I never could get a KFL+ to do right no matter how many times I tried, I've had great success (on the first try too) with building the Mini RBA and my first OCC head. Maybe I just got lucky, maybe I was "holding my mouth just right"... I don't know. I just hope I can remember, and duplicate, what I did on these two builds.

When I first got the STM, I used the 1.2Ω OCC head first, and was really happy with it for ~10 days on an iStick 30, after settling on ~14w.

After the coil gunked up enough to change out, I put some KGD in the RBA unit, using the factory coil. The amount of vapor (and throat hit) blew me away!... so I lowered the nic and upped the VG in my juice, and have been happily vaping away ever since at ~10w, and ~30pg/70vg. Good flavor, no leaks, no dry hits.

Then I rebuilt the OCC head using 28g, 7 wraps (I think), spaced, on a 7/64ths drill bit... came out to ~1.7Ω and works fine, no dry hits etc. etc. Next time, I'll do 5 wraps... 'cause now that I have a regulated mod, I'm starting to like lower ohms (and lung hits)... which reminds me -- with the exception of some experimenting, all the above is with the AFC wide open. As soon as funds allow, I'll be buying another Mini... and another iStick 30!

Anybody want a KFL+? :D
