Mike, where did you see Phil Busardo say something about it? I subscribe to his videos on YouTube and haven't seen anything where he talks about it.

In previous reviews for TC mods, Busardo has said that it's not very good if a device can't handle nickel coils below 0.1 ohms. That new Joyetech mod has a lower limit of 0.2 ohms for nickel coils, according to the link.

It wasn't a video just a 1st impressions blog on his website.

Taste Your Juice | NEW IN THE QUEUE – 05/20/15 – The Joyetech eVic VT

I don't follow bustard regularly nor watch his entire vids. He's good but I can only take so much of him. I don't recall hearing or reading him say that about the .1Ωs.

Geez - the DNA40 that started it all has a range limit of .1Ω to 1Ω.

I've been reading The end of microcoils? | E-Cigarette Forum

I'm starting to feel like Dr. F could turn out to be a liability. He seems to be spewing 'common sense' guesses instead of sticking to science. I think the funding he's gotten and his good reputation with the vaping community may have gone to his head and swelled it a bit.

If he's got any real science behind his guesses, he'd better put those out there pretty quick! When asked about his guesses that were expressed as dire warnings, he seems to be back-peddling. Not looking good for his reputation and trustworthiness.

Yep - kind of agree with you. Been in and out of that thread - lots of opinion and speculation but no real facts.

Very true, I sincerely apologize, I was just kidding but I can see how it could be offensive. Sorry :(

Edit: nice haul!

No! No! No! Now I see how that came off.  That wasn't directed at you, completely unrelated to your post. I could never be mad at you. I am very sorry now that I see how that looks but didn't mean it to be about you. Just griping about work and not thinking.

You have an incoming PM. Don't give up on him yet! I think he made some valid points in his post Dry-burning metal coils: is it a good thing? It seems he is a vaper, or at least was, and likes to be on the safe side of things. Sounds like he's taken a lot of flack for what he said in the interview and that's only from the vapers.
Thanks for the PM, FT!

No, I haven't given up on him yet. I do understand his concern. A lot of vapers have already been concerned about the same thing.

Nice order! I've been wanting some of those silicone battery covers but they are all too big to work on an 18490. Where did you get yours?

Everything except the juice came from Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette | myvaporstore

I think they are 99 cents.

You'll just have to get bigger batteries to fill your new covers.

And a bigger mod for your new bigger batteries.

Vaping embiggens us all.

LOL, I like my vape. Anything bigger for me would be like carrying around a club. Thanks for the info!

Good grief in the time since I posted my vapemail pic, I have gone through a whole 4.5 ml tank of MRVRY4. :w00t:

Okay, time to start with the DIY while you still have some cash left.

I agree. He is only human, but it very well could be he got out of his area of expertise on this. But yeah that can be a real problem for us.

Thanks a lot for a transcript. Even in worst nightmare I would not watch vape-related video for 1+ hour.

A lot of useful info.

BUT as a (former) metallurgist I do know about metals and I have to say that all what was said about metals is not worth any attention. It was all wrong. It was even said "you are basically destroying the bonds between the metal molecules", which is just funny for a metallurgist: metals do not have molecules and heating does not destroy bonds. For kanthal heating is very useful thing. You should dry burn your kanthal coils to make them healthier. First, you remove contaminations - no solvent can remove them as good as dry burning. Second, you form good protective layer on a wire.
Just an example when specialist is trying to discuss things in which he is not a specialist.
Please, dry burn your kanthal coils. Please, do not overheat them while vaping (including legs).
Yes, it's fairly clear that Dr F does not have the knowledge necessary to make the statements that he is making. He's guessing, and it seems likely that he's guessing wrong.

I don't know enough chemistry, physics or metallurgy to know whether the things stated by Alien Traveler, self-described as a former metallurgist, are completely correct, but Alien Traveler is using logical explanations whereas Dr F has none.

Been thinking about some of the all in one RY4 flavorings. Still got quite a bit of 50/50 unflavored I could use with it.

I always thought I wanted small stuff. More discreet. But, I hate having to change batteries and to keep filling little tanks!

Yup! Time for DIY. Without it, I would have had serious trouble continuing to vape.

I think there is a reason why he said what he did but I'm going to wait until he comes out with the research. There are many good points in that thread but none of them have been tested with vaping.

I get tired of refilling, use 3ml or 1.5ml tanks, but the thought of lugging a 5-10ml tank is less appealing to me. Maybe I can train El Whacko to do the refilling. Better yet, maybe I can train one of these guys to do it.

You are very set in your ways, Tutu. Sometimes a club can come in handy.

Night, Porch. Gonna go fire up the Xbox.
Are you kidding? My PV is a very sturdy weapon and it keeps right on working after I clout someone with it. :)

With all my travel, I like smaller tanks too. I carry extra juice with me and really don't mind refilling. When I am working I can't vape much anyway, so all is good.

I am looking forward to vapemail in a few weeks. A few Taifuns and another Kayfun (all clones) from Fasttech. love the flavor, just not the bulk. At home, perfect.

I am so glad I didn't suggest that you were tired from getting up so early and had made a mistake, but I almost did! :)

Busardo gave the DNA40 an overall "thumbs down", while acknowledging that it had the disadvantage of being one of the first (or THE first?.. I dunno) TC device.

In the review Busardo did of the SX Mini Class M, one of the things he likes about it is the ability to handle nickel coils at around 0.065 ohms. (I think.) That's why I don't yet grok how a device that only goes down to 0.2 ohms would be OK with him.

Anyway, I'm getting sold on the potential advantages of TC and if the eVic VT turns out to be well-reviewed I reckon I'll get one.

What I got from it is to hit a new coil just once in a well-ventilated area, and wash and dry-burn a coil only minimally. When I was using silica wicks, I would dry burn and watch the smoke and smell it. Not advisable.
jup and he could be right on the money, but a couple of metallurgists posted after him that what he was saying didn't make sense, cuz they couldn't lose molecules, and A1 Kanthal is sold annealed already. also that by dry burning it, it cooks off some of the chemicals that are on it from manufacturing that solvents just won't get off. So I'm not sure which one is more right about this

Yea, I figured semi was messing with me but doesn't hurt to make sure no offense was taken. Dang, sometimes I am just too darn nice!

Yep, you are definitely tooooooo sweet if you weren't sure I was messing with you. :D
