Got some nickel wire and a coil jig today. Made a 7 wrap, 2.5mm diam coil with 28 gauge nickel wire and put it in my Kanger Subtank head with KGD cotton wick.

It started at 0.15 ohms and a couple of draws later it dropped to 0.13 ohms, where it's stayed for the next 40 (approximately) draws so far. It's vaping well, MUCH better than the prebuilt 0.15 ohm OCC nickel heads. I'm using 370 degrees and 15 watts on my Heatvape Invader Mini. Only after looking at the picture do I see that two coils are touching, but it's working well and I won't mess with it until it's not working right.

LOL....yeppers!!

I'm a wee bit worried.....that's a pretty big discount, and......they're located in WA. Hope it's not an indicator of another vendor about to pull up stakes and relocate :(

Haven't heard anything about them moving, and they actually just opened a retail branch in Tacoma a month or so ago, so it doesn't seem they're thinking of leaving.

Good evening porchfam, it's me again once again, I have some new info on my dad and we've had some epiphanies and breakthroughs/realizations.

He's a lung-hitter. He's part of that tiny population that drags off a cigarette straight to the lungs. What's more, he's a "holder-inner" lol... he doesn't do a strong exhale. He sort of holds in the smoke. I realize he's in maybe the 1% of smokers, this shocked me too, but after working with him and a lot of trial and error we've now at least figured this much out.

This makes the evod type setups he's using pretty crappy, the airflow is almost non-existant. I need to get him a good lung hit type setup with airflow and vapor, but he's slow to learn with new things like this(trust me I try very patiently.) He needs a device with no external battery and simple controls, good vapor and not a hot vape. Maybe a Cool Fire IV plus a decent tank? Sorry I'm rambling but I just wanted to share that we figured out why his vaping was less than satisfactory. I greatly look forward to my porchfolk chiming in, thank you guys, have a great evening! :D

Drill out 2 of the air holes in the evod base to 1/16 inch. They draw much looser. That is what I have done to mine.

I don't do coils, but that looks so low I wonder if a decimal hasn't been misplaced.

No misplaced decimal. Nickel is a different animal which is far lower in resistance than kanthal. I think it's only been about a month since I likewise questioned the location of the decimal point when Legs was talking about nickel coils.

Drilling the evod base out is one option, but you may or may not have the equipment to do that. It can improve them, though.

Perhaps a Protank 2 or 3, with the air flow base? The 2 uses single bottom coils that are the same as the evod ones (unless there's a newer evod that takes the dual or vertial coils - but if so, those are probably the same as the PT3 coils.) Any of those - and similar - may be an improvement for him.

There are also newer tanks specifically designed for lung-hitting, such as the Kanger SubTank. Perhaps one like those? (There are others, as well, in that category.)

And the CFIV should do fine. Innokin makes pretty reliable gear, and that model has been getting pretty good comments.

Don't have that info, 0MG, but if the resistance changes, there could be a problem with a poor connection somewhere.
I recoiled another last night. I think the wandering Ω is caused by screws that are too tight, and partially cutting the coil. Same result for both extremes. This time, it was on the Vamo, so I know it was not a kick problem, other than inaccuracy in high threshold.

Pretty good airflow and vapor production using an eGo/evod style battery
Joyetech eGo C Upgrade Battery 650mAh Red: Vapor Bank - Evansville, Indiana E-Cigarette Store
I use this for stealth vaping with a "sticker" from slow tech

Been busy posting reviews at FT for points. What trip down memory lane. I refuse to calculate how much I have spent there. Some of the purchases were wasted, but cheap enough I won't cry over them.
And one of my kicks just burned out! Looks like my points that I just earned will have to be spent as soon as they pass through the approval process. :grr:

Maybe it was the one that I was wondering about.
