over the past 6 years, studies have shown that nicotine taken away from tobacco is:
Non-addictive (same levels as cafiene)
Will temporarily increase BP, but chronically reduce it in people with high BP
Aids in focus and concentration only for people that have a less than average ammount of a certain nurotransmitter
Has no cognitive effect on people with a sufficiency of that neurotransmitter
Is a gentle anti-depressant
While a vascular constrictor, has caused increased vein developement in people with diabetes.
Has very few side effects that are negative (2 or 3, I forget which)
Easy to identify overdose due to increased heart rate and dizzyness long before actual overdose occurs.

Yeah, nicotine must be a very bad substance if it does all that :)

Ken, come on, think of the children. Wonder how many people could greatly benefit from using nicotine, not just quitting smoking but those with Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and so on, that never will because of the unfounded fears of it. It's just plane sad.

Sorry to bring up an old post but our internet connection problems have been horrible lately.

So, I'm almost at my break even point! Should be some time next week!

By the way, the good news is I got the job and I'm officially full-time, probationary, permanent faculty. The bad news is that I'm teaching another completely new course, which I'm building as I go. So, not a lot of time to stop and smell the roses, but I'm having fun.

Ha! you break even? Nice job. :) Whatcha gonna buy to celebrate?

Congratulations on the job! That's fantastic! They do know a good thing when they see it. Party hard to celebrate.

SlothPartyAnimal.jpg

I'll try to get a PM off to you about when we'll be up there tomorrow, computer problems permitting. Flight dates are in my husband's computer, somewhere.

Congratulations! That's wonderful! And to top it off I found a way that we can watch you while you ar at work!

'Sokay Flamingo. The current rash of preemptive legislation has me looking into just how I can sue for endangerment should they hit me locally, or statewide.

Then there is this. Do you need to wonder which side the author is on in regards to this good news?

I actually build my KSTM about the same as my KFs (not V4), but about a 2.5 id coil rather than the 2.0 I like on the KFs. Rayon wicks.

And I use the "bunny ears" method for trimming, even on the KSTM.

One hole open and it's very KFunish

KSTM? couldn't find that in the Acronym thread.

Somehow, spaces got added to that URL that make the link unclickable. Let's see if this posts without the spaces:

Interesting thing is more and more folks are quitting the smokes. And for some odd reason (?) Parkinson's & Alzheimer's are on the rise. Hmm...

Strange-- that link is now broken, just can't get there. I suspect it was jumping the gun. I think we will have to wait to see if it is true. Kristen K-M usually posts all the news on the Wisconsin Association FB page, and it is not there.

Yes. Per ECF rules when posting a link to questionable sites, I broke he link.
While the article announces good news for vapers, there is a great deal of junk science stated as fact.

To access the link, copy it and paste it int a browse, then re,one the space after "https: " and the one before " com/news"

I used Google the first time to get to it, but the second time I couldn't.

I did more Googling, and Kleefisch (R) is working on it. But there is an opposing bill in the works, too. The State of Politics: E-Cigarettes Lights Up Capitol Fight - Urban Milwaukee Given the stupid pro-abortion Democrat who ran against Walker last time, there may be no significant opposition.

then we need to add it!! That is a document that anyone can add to, and the creators want folks to add to it when they see something not on there. That way it stays up to date and becomes more and more complete.

I knew you'd broken it on purpose since I saw the space, but just deleted the space when I pasted it into my browser. It was enough to bring it up in the search. I've never been real clear on when we're supposed to break links and when not.......but I know we are supposed to sometimes.....and I've seen mods come in and edit some things to break links.

oh........and........I got a reply from John Cornyn who said that the proposal to put ecigs under FDA regs......said.....

" Moreover, the proposed regulations would use February 15, 2007, as the grandfather date for newly deemed products, as established under the Tobacco Control Act."

so does that mean that anything that began being sold after that date would be under the regulations? Cuz there wasn't much of anything being sold BEFORE that.

Even if I google it I can't get that article to load, but I found others. The real reason for bans:

Responding to Kolste, Kleefisch said every business owner can now ban e-cigarettes, “So, what’s the fight?”There’s a national debate over how to tax e-cigarettes. One reason: E-cigarette users buy fewer tobacco cigarettes, so they pay less state taxes. Cigarette tax collections in Wisconsin are falling – from $573 million in 2014 to $545.5 million in 2017. Cigarette taxes are the fourth largest source of general-fund tax collections. This 4.7 percent drop in cigarette tax collections comes at a time when legislators are looking for extra cash to avoid cuts in aid to K-12 schools and the UW System.

Gotta find me a way to get a buncha nic laid up. that's really the only thing I'll need. they can't include kanthal, cotton, pg or vg, can't even include flavorings, just ejuice. Now if Tom at catfish atty mods and Rob at Reos can call these things something else or find a different purpose, perhaps they can be excluded as well. lol

I've been on a spending spree since Jan 2010 , when I first learned of the SE, NJoy vs. FDA. I'm waiting for our side to win, so I can stop spending. I know I've given the industry enough (all) of my 'money saved' from not smoking to fund a small team of legal experts. :)
