'Bout $130

Spent that much just for flowers

Ya don't even want to know what a suite at the Stein Erickson cost!
(can't vape in there either)

coulda bought a bucket full of Provaris

Wow, you spoiled her good... That is the way it should be. Who cares if you could of bought two more Provari's, a couple of new tanks, and a truckload of batts to boot. 50 years of marriage is worth every penny. :D

I can't imagine how they'd even know if you vaped in your suite. A vaping prohibition wouldda been a deal-breaker for me. What you got against Motel 6? :toast:

Almost all hotels have either a no smoking policy or have smoking rooms, but unless you are a large enough cloud chaser that you set off alarms there is no way they would know the difference. TJ is probably one of the ones that would set off the alarms. (LOL)...

I ALWAYS assume that a no smoking policy does not apply to vaping unless e-cigs are specifically prohibited. I realize your post was light-hearted in nature, but I have never heard of a single instance where vaping set off alarms of any kind.

I have tried to set off my own smoke alarms by blowing clouds directly into them. No success. It was fairly easy to set one of them off when I smoked.

There are two type of smoke alarms; ionization and Photoelectric.

Ionization smoke alarms are generally more responsive to flaming fires.
How they work: Ionization-type smoke alarms have a small amount of radioactive material between two electrically charged plates, which ionizes the air and causes current to flow between the plates. When smoke enters the chamber, it disrupts the flow of ions, thus reducing the flow of current and activating the alarm. Download this chart on ionization smoke alarms(PDF, 943 KB)

Photoelectric smoke alarms are generally more responsive to fires that begin with a long period of smoldering (called “smoldering fires”).
How they work: Photoelectric-type alarms aim a light source into a sensing chamber at an angle away from the sensor. Smoke enters the chamber, reflecting light onto the light sensor; triggering the alarm. Download this chart on photoelectric smoke alarms(PDF, 782 KB).

Ionization vs photoelectric

I've vaped in hotel rooms with no problem. My husband took a steaming shower in a hotel with a photoelectric smoke alarm right outside the bathroom door. Set off the alarm and had nearly half the hotel staff in our room with him standing there is a towel. Quite the experience.

Might as well break the news gently to you now; the majority of the most knowledgeable people on this forum are 50+. You be surprised, I was. Sixty, seventy, eighty year old folks wrapping their own coils, sub ohming, you name it, they're doing it. Think it stems from more decades of smoking and wanting to quit but never having anything available worth a :censored: to be able to. One of the beauties of ECF is often not knowing the age of who you are talking to. You either like what they say or don't, respect their advice solely for what it is or not.

I've vaped in all the non-smoking motel rooms I've been in ... never gave it a second thought.

I don't know how to tell which type I've got. The two of them in my house are wired into house current and are now 22 years old. I just pushed the test buttons on both and one of them issued no sound, even though the tiny non-obtrusive "in-service" LED still fires once every 60 seconds. So, I'm going to go on Amazon and find a replacement for the one that seems to be no longer working. Thanks!

Glad the subject came up then but sorry it isn't some shiny vape thingy you're getting.

Ken, is that the same sign you've been using?

Dy,

First off, a jubilant welcome to da porches! Just grab any vacant rockin' chair.

Second, nuttin' like assistin' folk off da 'bakky!

Lastly, reaping v-verts is definitively on topic and an desirable trait. Actually, it's one of my fav endeavors (and I'm not alone on dat thought here)!

I never stole any! I only had to inspect da 'customer comfort capability' during our frequent recent 'transitions'. Geeeze, no good deed goes unpunished...

That's great. I used to need my group to wait while I went outside to smoke. They hated doing that. Wish I had been vaping back when I played online every night.

I pretty much just play single player stuff now. Co op is fun, though.

edit:

Welcome to the Porch. The nicest people on ECF hang out here.
