I don't vape as much as I smoked when doing physical work / chores. I just can't seem to hold a mech mod in between my lips and use my hands for something else.

HaHaHa - yep, maybe that has something to do with it...

Heh, thatz exactly why I never figgered I could quit. The cig in the fingers or in the mouth while typin' this stuph! :D
No idea why it never bothered me but it didn't. I think cuz it just tasted amazingly greater than a cig.

Okay. Virgin here. But first hit was really harsh on the throat and had me coughing before I could inhale properly. This is 100% PG 18 mg tobacco/menthol that's supposed to be like Marlborough menthol lights (I ordered it before I explored PG/VG and the other juice hasn't come yet.) I can't say it tastes bad or good, because I didn't have a chance to taste anything. It's 1.9 ohms 5 volts and 8 watts. I tried a second and then a third. It improved a bit, but still couldn't inhale as long as I drag on an analog. I have no clue what needs to be dialed up or down or if I just need to wait on my 50/50. Not very satisfying. Whadda think?

It sounds like you got your first taste of a dry hit. Did you prime your coil? You have to let the juice soak in. Take a couple of puffs without hitting the button to help draw in the juice. Not familiar with your coils, but if they have cotton wicking, you may have to try coil 2.

Don't inhale as hard as you do w/ a cig. More like a slower pull on a straw in a milkshake. Are you a mouth to lung (MTL) or straight to the lung smoker? MTL is easier when starting out. That an 18mg 100% PG can be on the harsh side when beginning.

Andy like Gary said - give us the mod name and setting again. You can have it set to 5V and 8watts - it don't work that way. We can explain that later after we 'fix' your inhale.

Hang in there - go slow - you want be able to pull/drag on it like a cig 'till you get used to it. But it will happen. Many have your reaction when 1st trying an e-cig.

If it got a little better with later inhales, it's probably because the wick was starting to get primed. Dry hits are really harsh and nasty. Just ask Iffy. Make sure your wick has had time to soak up the liquid before using it.

Also, I would first try a 1.9 ohm coil at about 3.5 volts and work up to about 4 volts or so. Not 5 volts.

That sounds like fun...once I rid myself of the urge for tobacco taste, I can vape myself a banana split. Yay! Things to look forward to

Or bacon, waffles, cupcake, cream brulee... the list is endless. Yay!

Something highly unusual happened today. There was absolutely nothing vape related in my mailbox.

Peach got it, you don't mind do you?

I knew about the suicides with Chantix. I was seriously surprised my psych doc even prescribed it for me once.

I'm astounded he (he?) let you take it. I'm glad nothing happened to you. Well, I'm sorry you weren't able to quit smoking but that seems to be a rare side effect.

Wow...some of those ACAH articles are scary. The lunatics are running the asylum. How the heck does a tax discourage children and under age from flavored nic liquids? And while I'm asking. And are they claiming flavored liquids at 0 mgs are supposed to be like a gateway drug? Who the heck would even want to do that? I know people who have never smoked and vape 0 mgs. I've never heard a one of them say they had any desire to add nic to their regimen.

BTW...I have mail!!! The iTaste VV4, mini nauti tank, a pk of BVCs (in case I screw something up) and my Cool Fresh liquid came in today. And some more reading material, for those of us who read the instructions.

You got instructions?! I haven't gotten one thing with instructions. Were they in English? Seriously, some of the instructions from China are hilarious.

That's just mean, but since Semi isn't going to eat it...

It looks like Wizard Labs is still going to ship to Indiana.

100%PG and 18mg nic is a recipe for monster throat hit, IMO. I couldn't handle that and I used to chain smoke reds. 60%-70% is about as much PG as I can do. Get to a vape shop and buy some juice mixed 50/50. 18 is enough nic you should still get sufficient TH.

When you start a new coil, put two drops of juice into each of the holes on the side of the unit. You can see the cotton wick through the holes. Screw the unit into the base and put 2-3 drops down into the top of the coil/wick. A few primer puffs (done without firing the battery) and you should be ready to pulse fire your battery while puffing. I'd rather have too much juice and do too much primer puffing than too little. If the wick is saturated with juice, you'll know it even with short puffs. If it's burnt from too little juice, you'll probably know it, too.

Here's a pretty good vid about it:

Once you've done this a few times, you'll have it down and won't think anything of starting up a new one. I remember burning a few when I started.

Didn't vaping make anyone else here cough the first day or so? I forgot about that but it was bad that first day.

Made me cough like a dog. I was vaping and smoking so every time I went from one to the other I was coughing my head off. Aside from water, I found drinking/eating something that coated my throat to help. Excellent excuse to eat ice cream, but it really did help me.

lol so I'm not the only one. I remember asking the vape shop if it's supposed to be like that. She told me it would be a day or so and she was right. I continued to smoke a bit for two days until the pack was gone.

Well, First, I made me a margarita. Patron and Grand Marnier ought to help, can't hurt. I changed the volts to 3.5. (It's switchable between these, I had no idea it was using one or the other.) It's an itaste VV4 with a nautilus mini, which has these little holes, four of them, where you can adjust air flow. I can't see them without standing under a light with a magnifying glass. Anyhow, I set that to the next to the smallest hole. Indoor Smoker recommended that one on his You Tube video, to be the most like a cigarette. (Before, I had it wide open.) I'm definitely mouth to lung. It crackles a bit when I press the "on" button. The next few puffs have been better, and it does taste like a Marlboro. It seems to vape a bit heavier than the cig smoke I'm used to. Certainly not as harsh as that first hit, but not smooth either. Still making me cough after about three hits. I let this thing sit thirty minutes before I used it. I would think that cotton is saturated by now.

I don't think I've ever heard you talk before about doing extensive groundwork before you started vaping, but you joined ECF about 6 weeks before I did and I didn't do much reading of posts that were made before I joined.
...
It's in my blog. that way I didn't have to keep typing it out :D

Sounding like maybe the 100% PG may be too strong a throat hit (TH) for you. You can lessen it, by going to the next bigger air hole. The more air mixed w/ the vapor the less TH you'll get. When you get used to vaping - it'll be a trade off between how airy you like the draw compared to how much TH you like.
