Well, First, I made me a margarita. Patron and Grand Marnier ought to help, can't hurt. I changed the volts to 3.5. (It's switchable between these, I had no idea it was using one or the other.) It's an itaste VV4 with a nautilus mini, which has these little holes, four of them, where you can adjust air flow. I can't see them without standing under a light with a magnifying glass. Anyhow, I set that to the next to the smallest hole. Indoor Smoker recommended that one on his You Tube video, to be the most like a cigarette. (Before, I had it wide open.) I'm definitely mouth to lung. It crackles a bit when I press the "on" button. The next few puffs have been better, and it does taste like a Marlboro. It seems to vape a bit heavier than the cig smoke I'm used to. Certainly not as harsh as that first hit, but not smooth either. Still making me cough after about three hits. I let this thing sit thirty minutes before I used it. I would think that cotton is saturated by now.

Vapor is more dense than smoke. I believe that's why it makes a smoker cough at first. Just me guessing though. It will take a while for that to go away. Don't feel like you need to pull hard on it with your mouth. A light, slow draw will bring it up into your mouth.

8 watts should be fine for starting a coil and you did good to get a 5 pack because you might go through a few as you learn. You can always go to a shop and buy one or two coils and ask for help getting started if you need someone in person. Any decent shop will help a newbie get going with advice and juice sampling. I don't think that high PG mix will ever have a smooth hit. Get to a shop and try some 50/50. You've got the right tank and battery.

The margarita should help a lot. I prefer beer, but whatever you choose will work. Most of us here have quite the magnifier collection.

Crackling is good, means there's juice in there (in the coil). You will cough until you are used to it, it's the nature of the beast but your body will get used to it. Vaping is not smoking, it's different and you use a different technique. Whatever you do, do not give up. You will get the hang of it. Just takes practice, we've all been there and know it isn't always easy in the beginning.

There's a shop less than two miles from me. I'll go there in the morning and see if I can try out some juice that's 50/50. I have some ordered, it's supposed to already be here, but it's not. I believe it's just what you say, not a bad coil and adequately primed, but the PG is too intense for me. Seems I can puff and create lots of vapor, but once I inhale it hits the upper chest and makes me cough and there is not much vapor exhaled. I have to stay up till midnight to take an antibiotic, so I'll sit on my back porch and play with this while I sip my margarita. Maybe have some ice cream too. Thanks all for your ideas, thoughts and suggestions. Grateful for the support.

When you go to the vape shop, please try other flavors besides tobacco. They have a tasting bar, right? Not trying to talk you out of tobacco, but take the opportunity to try other flavors and see if you might like any, just to get a feel for them. Whole new world out there, no harm in taking a baby step now. They do make margarita flavored juice. ;)

Didn't vaping make anyone else here cough the first day or so? I forgot about that but it was bad that first day.

Vaping is not smoking, it's different and you use a different technique.

I agree with the above. The main reason that you're half choking is that it is not possible for anyone to vape exactly the same way they smoked, regardless of whether you are mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, regardless of whether you're using 100% PG or 100% VG. People tend to forget that they learned new techniques as they negotiated the learning curve. I remember.

Take the vapor into your mouth and don't try to take ANY into your lungs. Instead, exhale it through your nose. The nasal passages are excellent at absorbing nicotine. Eventually, your throat will learn to work with your mouth and you'll be able to take some of the vapor into your lungs.

Repeating what Metal implied and what Flamingo said: vaping is different from smoking. But don't worry, it's BETTER than smoking, not some inferior substitute. It does take some experimenting and learning.

This is 100% PG 18 mg...

fer a novice vaper. 100% PG can be brutal!

Don't know if anyone has mentioned dis general rule: PG is for flavor and throat hit, VG for vapor.

As recommended earlier, hit da vape shop, try some 50/50 (ya can adjust levels later on) and sample diff types of flavs. Good luck!

Okay. Virgin here. But first hit was really harsh on the throat and had me coughing before I could inhale properly. This is 100% PG 18 mg tobacco/menthol that's supposed to be like Marlborough menthol lights (I ordered it before I explored PG/VG and the other juice hasn't come yet.) I can't say it tastes bad or good, because I didn't have a chance to taste anything. It's 1.9 ohms 5 volts and 8 watts. I tried a second and then a third. It improved a bit, but still couldn't inhale as long as I drag on an analog. I have no clue what needs to be dialed up or down or if I just need to wait on my 50/50. Not very satisfying. Whadda think?

100% pg , 1.9Ω 5volts to me thats all Harsh harsh.
Usually people start at say 70%pg at the most and 3.5-3.7 volts going by the usual ego is at 3.7v.

BTW...I have mail!!! The iTaste VV4, mini nauti tank, a pk of BVCs (in case I screw something up) and my Cool Fresh liquid came in today. And some more reading material, for those of us who read the instructions.
Wahooooo!!! Sorry you were having some issues, but it's not uncommon. Personally I didn't jump through a lot of priming hoops with the nautilus, but I used the big one, wouldn't think that makes a big difference though. To "prime" my coils, I'd just turn the battery down to around 3.3 volts or so, take several tiny puffs without even inhaling, to get the juice flowing up into the wicking. Slowly turn the batt up while taking slightly longer puffs. Didn't take much to get the wick saturated. As everyone else said, 100%pg is going to be harsh, and little to no vapor particularly when you inhale. But you'll get it. When drawing on it, draw slowly, counting sometimes helps at first, 1 thousand 1, 1 thousand 2, 1 thous 3 etc 3-4 second count But yeah getting some vg in your juice will help. You can also buy some vg at walmart but it will dilute the nic level and the flavor level, but good in a pinch, and you can sorta tell what pg/vg ratio you'll like before buying more expensive juice. Get some 50/50 or even higher vg juice in a menthol or fruit flavor that will compliment, and you can use that to mix with your 100pg juice so it's not wasted.

If you were a bit more svelte, you obviously have some weasel in the family tree so all may not be lost, you could fly Woodpecker Air.

o-WOODPECKER-WEASEL-facebook.jpg

While aboard, I don't think vaping is an option since no seat belts are provided and you'll need all four paws just to hang on.

Note: Woodpecker landed and dumped the weasel. Woodpecker was fine and flew away, weasel will never be the same.

Have you guys seen Awe Killer Mods? The wood ones are gorgeous! And expensive I guess. There was a snippet on PBusardo's Ego One review about them (as well as a shot of the shrapnel form the previous year's Vape Blast. If the video doesn't start at the 10:50 mark, swing forward to it.

Their FB page is here. AWE Designs | Facebook I know zilch about them but they're cool.

EDIT - I see you're holding down night shift Deb. I'm hitting the hay now for a doctor's visit tomorrow. Hope you get some good sleep tonight! :)
