Used to be around horses a lot when I was younger. As a kid I disappeared one night, no one could find me, my brother finally figgered out where I was......found me asleep in the barn in one of the horse stalls! We were visiting friends. I sure miss em being around horses! My hair used to be super long and super thick, after breaking tons of brushes, bending combs etc, my dad came home one day with a mane and tail comb! Worked great!
We've had a ton of rain here too. We need it, but it wreaks havoc on my body
Don't know what it is about horses and little girls, but they make great friends and horses make sturdy, compassionate women out of little girls who seem to see through the bs haze of everyday life and find what is important in their corner of the world and beyond.

Maybe it's been awhile since we talked horses. This one is a new horse, it's just been a month. I'm leasing her to see if I like gaited horses. After 25+ years, I've been horseless since September. Horse or not, I would never sell my saddle!!!! Lol! I can't believe what they cost now.
We've never talked horses. I saw a post in the saloon that said you'd leased one. I was awestruck. Not completely sure if wanting to be an astronaut or horses where my first love. Astronaut was out because "Little girls don't do that." Horses and riding I took to naturally at five. That was an acceptable endeavor for a girl, but that was fine with me. I really envy you right now. I don't know about gaited, but I'd love a good trail wise horse horse with distinct personality that like to explore. I really do hope you click with your new charge. He, she, it?

ETA - Yeah, I regret selling that saddle to this day. They don't make them like that anymore. It's kind of like selling your soul, or worse, your horse's. :(

Oh, okay. I couldn't remember. After 24 years together I had to put mare down. I was really heartbroken, she was my best friend. Then last September I lost her son in an accident. It felt very weird not to have a horse, but I didn't want to buy another just yet.

Unrelated to buying another horse, I met a rancher who it turns out lives about 5 miles from me. He had a couple of horses to lease and asked me if I wanted one. When I found out some of the horses were gaited, I was in! I'm doing arena work, since I've never ridden a gaited horse before and it's more difficult than I thought it would be. It will be awhile before the trails, I'm more focused on figuring out how to balance - this gaiting thing is counterintuitive. Due to my mare's age I'd only done light riding the last few years and I forgot how fun it is to be challenged. The horse is a mare, who looks like she could be my baby's sister (which is kind of unnerving).

Challenged is fun, challenged at hoof point not so much. Thankfully with horses, there's a middle ground. Usually. I love it when they get comfortable and trust you enough to let their personalities come out. Actually it doesn't matter if it's a horse, dog, human, lizard, spin of the roulette wheel. When the connection is made to carry on with life with soul bared, wonderful things happen on both sides. Doesn't mean your not going to get checkmated once in a while--dumped on your ....--but at least you have some mutual, predetermined ground rules to fall back on and debate. You did go over that with her, correct? God I hope you win those debates, especially seeing as you have one prone to pms. Too late to lease a gelding?

I hope it turns out wonderfully for both of you. Do you have the option to buy if the relationship clicks? Never heard of leasing a horse before. Beats the heck out of sending them to France by light years.

Lovin all da horsey talk, but.....we probably really should move it to the back porch. Unless your horsies vape!! :)

oh and ocelot, here's the link to the back porch, you're more than welcome to join us there as well. Most folks do both porches, but there are a few that stick to only one, like a certain long legged, long necked, bird like critter who shall remain nameless

we can (and do) talk about anything on the back porch, but are supposed to keep the front porch on vaping topics. Not that we're all that successful at it sometimes.

I've had geldings, but for some reason I prefer mares. When I said challenged, I meant me. I'm having to unlearn things that are the natural way I ride. Imaging trying to ride a horse that doesn't trot. As far as her challenging me, it's given that she'll try, but I've had horses too long. I will always win. She hasn't been ridden regularly for awhile, so she's testing to see what she can get away with. All horses do that. But she's not a bad horse, no bucking or biting, just crow-hopping and dropping her shoulder on turns, nothing I haven't dealt with before.

I'm doing a lot of ground work and working in a round pen, as well as an arena, it's about learning to communicate with each other. The tack is different too, and how to hold the reins. We will know each other better when the weather lets up and I can ride everyday. One of the guys said it took him 4 months to feel confident on a gaited horse after riding Quarter Horses for years, so I'm in no rush.

The rancher has made a number of comments about how well we look together and that his wife would probably sell her to me, but as I said, I'm in no rush.

Sounds good. I'm more comfortable getting out on the trail and feeling the horse out, and visa versa. Freedom before discipline. It's just my nature and I suspect their's too, at least the ones I get along best with. To each their own, horse and rider. Nice that you two seem to be getting on but only you and she will truly know how well you bond.

My horse had been out to pasture for several years before they brought him in and I met him. I'd met nearly a dozen by that point. I could hear his hay belly walk up behind me long before I saw him and knew, without turning around, he was The One. Match made in heaven. Later there were ones I literally would have died for trying to protect but I was a little dense seeing it up front. Happens when it happens. At least you're back in the saddle and I envy you. Both of you take care and please do let us know how it goes from here on out. Vaping may keep us alive, passion lets us live our lives to the fullest.

I've ordered from them a couple of times. Great prices. Probably have more coils than I'll ever be able to use. Use them a couple of times then rebuild them. Been using the same 8 or 10 as long as I've used bottom coil tanks.

My go to is the Trophy tank, used it daily for about 8 months so far. Just ordered a couple of the mini Trophys today. If they are as good as the regular Trophy tank, I'll probably be set for a long time.

Hey - there's Chuck - I thought you forgot about us. Nice to see you again.

55 and up? I could have been a member for awhile, but I didn't think I was old enough.

That one you linked to looks like the drip tip doesn't come off. Maybe the picture is deceptive because the one I was looking at, it definitely did. Never had a problem, at least one that was the tank's fault, with the Davides. I think they came out at the same time the Protanks did and everybody was having trouble with them leaking, but not the Davides. Now I need to find someplace that sells them with the colored bases. ;)

No, the driptip doesn't come off. It does on the Trophy Tank 2, but the one of those I had leaked some and I gave it away not long after I got it.

I see that the mini trophy is much cheaper at madvapes but all they have is black.

Look at the mini Trophy kits. They have the silver there, or at least they did yesterday when I ordered a couple of them. I really don't need the extra coils the kit comes with, but I already have a mini protank 2 that's black and wanted the silver to be able to easily tell them apart.

And yes, I don't get here very often. Between working full time, being grandpa to 6 grandkiddos, and taking care of a partially disabled wife, my days are pretty full.

We'll keep the lights on and a spare rocker for you. You just come on back when you can.

kewl! Hope you love it. Before I got the Reo, I was seriously looking at the first one. (before the 2nd one came out) Is mr Eliquid the RY4 you sent me? So far, I like it. Not my favorite thing ever, but I do like it. thanks! Will try the renegade next.

If you are talking about the green bottle, that's Crystal E Liquid. I probably like it a little more than you do. One of my faves. You might actually like MEL better. It's more caramel and vanilla, less tobacco. The Mr Vape RY4 is somewhere in the middle of those two, I'd say. Ordered a 50ml bottle of it yesterday in 70% VG. I tore through that first 30ml bottle of 50/50 in no time.

BTW, I emailed Crystal about that bottle they sent on the last order with the incorrect nic level. Got a reply back in about a minute saying they were sending a bottle with the correct nic level no charge. I can handle people making mistakes. I make a bunch myself. It's whether you are interested in doing something about fixing it that matters to me.

Gonna go get a Ripit, a sausage and egg biscuit and head to the range. Got to confirm zero on my rifle for a shoot I'm going to on Sun. and Mon. Might get the pistols out and shoot a little steel, too. Juice in my tank this morning is Special Blend tobacco from Mr Vape and it's doing the trick. This time next week I will have four months smoke free.

Howdy Ocelot!! Heck I was 48 3 years ago when I joined the porches.

I can help with that. Hilight and delete it, and then click on the thing that looks like a disk to the right of the camera, and click delete draft, and that gets rid of it!
Yay!!!!!!! Thank you Deb. That has been driving me crazy,
I know I didn't have far to go anyway but you saved me
