Eggnog?!?well, no idea, cuz I don't have it yet, just ordered it today. Yiddle ordered some and added some of it to an eggnog flavor, but just did that yesterday or the day before and hasn't tried it yet. I'm hoping I'll like it, and was thinking it might be good mixed with an espresso or coffee for my sil. I got 30 mls of it coming cuz they were out of 10 mls, so hope I like it.
Hi folks, I don't come in as often as I should. Too many things in my life to distract me. Since I started vaping and successfully managed to quit smoking I have been searching for flavor. I have listened to others and from recommendations I have really enjoyed the flavor I receive from my Herakles with the .6 coil. As far as tanks go I have enjoyed the Kanger Subtank, Atlantis V1, and V2. When I bought the Herakles I fell in love. I now have two of them loaded with my two favorite DIY ejuices, Rumchata in one and Peaches & Cream in the other. I also have started dripping to further enhance my flavor quest. I have picked up a few drippers that people have touted as best for flavor chasers. I have the Doge V2, Mutation X V3, Freakshow and Freakshow Mini. Now, don't get your granny pants in an uproar. Yes, all of them give me great flavor, so I don't want anyone to think different. They all also give me better flavor than any tank I own. I was browsing some sites the other night and came across a video of a new dripper. The Fogwind Alliance RDA. After watching the video, I checked my favorite online retailer and since the price wasn't that high I decided to add one to my collection of "Shinnieitus". When it came in I made up a set of duel coils, grabbed my favorite store bought ejuice (Vanilla Dream by Code 3 Vapor) and fired it up. Wow! I was amazed at the flavor. After a bit of dripping, I loaded up the Freakshow and the Doge V2 just to compare. The Fogwind was the winner! I spent a very enjoyable day sitting by the pool enjoying my new RDA. If you are looking for a new dripper I can't praise the Fogwind enough. For flavor, I don't think it can be beat. If you are looking for clouds, just change out the ring and you are good to go. I apologize for the long-winded post. Enjoy!

I got it cleaned up and was about to put it back in the box but decided to give it one last try. Went with quite a bit less wick and it's starting to work like I thought it would. Thing is, the ID on these coils off the gizmo is pretty big and they use a thicker, longer length of cotton in the Tugboat but I guess the same style wick took up too much room in the Derringer. I think it just needed some more space in the deck for air to move through because it's not getting hot at all now with .5 duals at 32 watts. It's not spitting bad maybe a little right after dripping. I knew these had to be good with all the glowing reviews of them. Just have to do a better job wicking it!

errr, umm, does USPS deliver there or must one use FedEx?
Good to hear you're starting to get along w/ the new purchase. I've just made friends with SubTank mini's. I bought a couple a few months ago and just wasn't liking them. Then a week ago I gave it another try and I'm starting to enjoy using it.
Hi MikeE3, from what I have read and the location of the holes in the body, it appears to be a duel coil only RDA. Although, my Freakshow is able to be a single or dual coil. Prior to getting the Fogwind, the Freakshow was my go to RDA for flavor. Is the Fogwind just for dual coils.
I know your question was addressed to Mike, but I'm crazy happy with my Kanger Subtank Plus, with the 1.2 ohm and 0.5 ohm OCCs, as well as the RBA when built at 0.5 or 0.6 ohms.Did you do anything else with your STmini? Other than fill? Some subtle change that makes them magical? I'm still on the fence with mine, both the mini and the full. Thanks be that I have a few kayfuns!

Well, one of the civilian aerospace firms is SpaceX. Maybe a clue?

The only thing I'm still working on is the 0.15 ohm nickel OCC in conjunction with a temperature control PV. First of all, the coils start off at 0.12 ohms rather than 0.15 ohms, and they proceed to drop to lower and lower ohms over the course of a couple hours of use until my PV says "ohms too low". I've got nickel wire on the way so that I can build sub-ohm nickel coils on the RBA, which will hopefully work out better than the pre-built nickel coils.
ETA: even when the nickel 0.12 ohm OCC is functioning OK, I am not finding the vape as good as with the kanthal coils. Neither flavor nor volume of vapor is impressive. Will see if that changes when I build my own nickel coils.
I made my first rayon wick with the lifetime supply kindly sent to me by DavidOck, and found it easy to do. As snug as I made it I can see where it might have been difficult if the coil was less sturdy but with a 0.5 ohm Kanthal coil in the RDA for a Kanger Subtank it was easy.
I didn't boil the rayon first, and I can taste it, but it's not an objectionable taste to me. It's my understanding that some people pick up no difference in taste but even after 100 or so draws I can still detect it. It's more of a taste than I get from KGD, which also has a distinctive taste. I don't know if pre-boiling and drying would eliminate the taste or not, I guess I'll give it a try, but the wick is working very well and I'm expecting it to last longer than a KGD wick. My KGD wicks start to go south flavor-wise after about 4-7 days of heavy use. The rayon also is wicking better, I think, because there is absolutely zero sputtering, which I occasionally get with the KGD.

I'm using the RBA head - the draw on the OCC heads is still too 'open' for me. I didn't do anything special to it - but I have been vaping an ErlPrinz and a couple KFL V4's. Both have an airier draw then a KFL lite, so I think it's more me getting used to an open draw and even the ST RBA deck is on the airy side.
Try a little less rayon next build but still listen for the squeak when pulling it through and keep it good and snug not tight. In the rayon thread it was talked about having too much rayon if you can taste it. Also in the beginning days of rayon people talked about it changing the taste of their juice. This was claimed to be because it wicked so well or some such thing.
I haven't noticed the change in flavor at all - but sometimes I can taste the wick more like the flavor has dropped off than actually tasting the wick. When it breaks in - I'm back to it tasting good.
