I am drinking water like crazy now that the weather is heating up. Add vaping to this heat and I feel dehydrated all the time. I buy 1 gal jugs of distilled water for 99 cents at the grocery and go through about 3/4 of a gallon per day just when I'm not at work. Drink bottled water at work too. I've been wondering if that's why my taste buds seem off lately.
Not sure why you would want to drink distilled water but it isn't that great for you. :( I worked a job, a bunch actually, where we got very toasty out there. Even on days were we weren't working under extreme conditions, we were always tanking up because you can't catch up on being dehydrated, you have to be hydrated before you even start. When you are thirsty, you're already dehydrated.

We drank Gatorade also to help replace what we lost through sweating. 50/50 Gatorade/water max on the Gatorade. I didn't mix them, just mixed it up during the day. There are other things besides Gatorade, I'm just addicted to the lime one. :D

I think that after 6 months of no cigs my taste buds/smell may be as recovered as they are going to get. Much better than when smoking and seem to work better than the wifes smeller and she does not smoke.
That's what I thought, then my body cranked it up a notch on the smell/taste thing recently after over two years of no smoking. Could have done with actually. My sniffer's now better than my non smoker husband's. Real PITA.

Thanks Deb.
I do have a procedure to using the hemp fiber, yes its a bit of hassle but it performs much better than cotton and I've not heard my wife complain in over a year and a half about her wicking. I did boil my hemp fiber but that was when boiling was mainstream and boiled enough to last me a loooong time.
I have a magnifier lamp so with the hemp I detangle it and look for all the off colored shards, bunnies and what looks to me to be shards of stalk and stems. I remove all those with tweezers which does take a few minutes. I do know if I forgot some shard cause it does have a woodzy taste ( I prime and make sure my wife's vape is ready before I give it back to her) but I got pretty good at it and rarely miss any. The hemp will last over a week in the DIY cotton candy(4.5% Desert Ship,1.5% Sig Circus Cotton Candy in a 50/50 base) 1.8ohm protank builds I make for her unlike the cotton that barely got a few days before I was rewicking. I also got my hemp form a coop in ECF and its nice raw stuff not like the hemps I've found in stores that have a waxy feeling to them and smell more like jute than hemp.

Well you've got more patience than me. I know what your talking about removing - seen it but I spend enough time rebuilding I ain't picking pieces out of my wicking material. Good for you, keeping the wife happy.

And ...

I just started 'talking' with you without saying Welcome to the Porch. Where's my manners.

Yepper, I still salivate reading da descriptions. But, sometimes...

realidadpublicidad544992521.jpg
Yes it does.

@FlamingoTutu - thanks for description. I prolly read it when I first ordered it, but I haven't used it much. I bet it would be a great element in my Rumchata recipe (why didn't I think of that earlier???)

Horchata (CAP) 11%
Jamaican Rum 6%
Bavarian Cream 5%
French Vanilla Deluxe 5%
Cinnamon 5%
Sweetener 3-4%

This is my original. I'm wondering if I replace the BC with Catalan Cream????
Think you mixed up posts, I only described one individual, albeit apparently reluctant, poo manufacturer. I'm a DIY dunce over two flavors.

I made my first rayon wick with the lifetime supply kindly sent to me by DavidOck, and found it easy to do. As snug as I made it I can see where it might have been difficult if the coil was less sturdy but with a 0.5 ohm Kanthal coil in the RDA for a Kanger Subtank it was easy.

I didn't boil the rayon first, and I can taste it, but it's not an objectionable taste to me. It's my understanding that some people pick up no difference in taste but even after 100 or so draws I can still detect it. It's more of a taste than I get from KGD, which also has a distinctive taste. I don't know if pre-boiling and drying would eliminate the taste or not, I guess I'll give it a try, but the wick is working very well and I'm expecting it to last longer than a KGD wick. My KGD wicks start to go south flavor-wise after about 4-7 days of heavy use. The rayon also is wicking better, I think, because there is absolutely zero sputtering, which I occasionally get with the KGD.
I've come to the conclusion that that different people can taste different things more strongly. Never could get over the wet t-shirt taste of regular boiled cotton. I also think sometimes (newer) people confuse the taste of breaking in a coil, "tastes funny," with taste of the wicking material. My two cents.

Yep - rayon and I didn't get along in the beginning. For a week or so I tried various builds w/ rayon and wasn't getting it right. So I just went back to KGD. Then a few weeks later I gave it another try - got it right and now use rayon in all my builds except the soft NI200 coils.
I know. I had fits with the rayon until I got it right. My fault, misunderstood the directions.

DANG it FT. I am not sure I want my smeller to work any better. I currently work in a retail environment that attracts some smelly customers.....
Will I have to start smoking again?
Clothespin over the nose is more economical, healthier and not likely to be regulated in the near future. ;)

Oops. welcome to the porch Alter! Thought you'd been here before.

I do not think my boss would like me wearing a clothes pin on my nose at work. And we do have Amish customers that do not believe in deodorant..... Funny though that they use cell phones...
Anyway yes on the cotton flavor. I have a breakin flavor with KGD but not with the Sally Salon Coil cotton...
So yes some of us do taste it. And after what Andria said I am afraid to try the rayon... Maybe some spandex wicking?

Hmmm, what did Andria say about the rayon? Or do you have a link?

I may be confused (again) but I think she said she did not like the flavor and a dry hit on it was horrible.
But in any case I have 5 years worth of salon coil cotton to use up before I try anything else :)

I drink distilled water every day, I just can't stand the taste of tap water. Distilled just doesn't have minerals, but you get that from food anyhow. We had to drink it after a hurricane, and once I got used to it, I just couldn't drink water that wasn't either distilled or at least reverse osmosis.

I haven't had a dry hit off anything that didn't seal off my throat for at least ten seconds. Five year supply? So you got about a foot and a half of it? I'll be the first to admit that I thought rayon was a horrible thing to wick with. Thought it was like nylon til I got reeducated on it, lol. I know, I'm a dunce.

We're on a well and there's no way I'd drink that water with all the septic tanks and leech fields around here. Buy bottled drinking water for that, heavily filtered tap water for cooking.

Here's on site What Are the Dangers of Drinking Distilled Water? | LIVESTRONG.COM but you can find arguments going both ways. Without doing an in-depth study, I'm going to venture that it's more important depending on your diet and how much you are sweating/working out in the elements as to what and how much you need to replace.

Seriously, they gave you distilled water? Eek.

I just use distilled water in my lead acid batteries and in cooling systems.
I drink MT Dew, nasty stuff that water....
Little caffeine fix with your liquid?

I've gone back to KGD already.
That's my definite opinion, not likely to change in the next hour. After that, who knows?

Well, it's been an hour....

At least the price was right!

Do you have the new base for your tank? The newest Subtank base has airflow from both sides but the smallest setting is two tiny tootle holes. Can't imagine a tighter draw than that.

Actually, one of each in the Mini. Even with the two tiny holes it still vapes harsh... but still playing around with 'em.

I wouldn't count on that. Clothespins can be used to hang out laundry, and that infringes on the clothes dryer makers' rights... and since corporations are people....

Zackly! I was going to try it sooner or later anyway, and was glad to do it with no cost to me.

I watched the whole Busardo video regarding wicking materials and he was big on both rayon and KGD, couldn't tell the difference between them, and said that rayon lasted longer. I agree with him about it lasting longer... could tell by how cleanly it was wicking and by how there was no buildup on the wick. A little discoloration that would have just rinsed out, not the darker stuff that builds up on KGD.

Normally, I don't have discriminating taste buds, but I think that rayon and KGD BOTH have flavors to them. I just happen to prefer the KGD taste even if it means I have to rewick more frequently.

I'm going to take a piece of the rayon, boil it and dry it, and try it again, before I give up on it.

I'm lost (not a caffeine drinker, can you tell?), how can it be different? I'm still a bit  about people wanting it in their ejuice.
You got me on how it can be different. But I can drink a 20 oz bottle of Dew and go right to sleep but one cup of coffee and no going to sleep for a couple of hours at least.
So there is some difference. Natural and synthetic caffeine?

+ 1 It's about the taste for me - I don't want any. My bottled water is from Food Lion or Dollar General and it's not as good. Better than going thirsty though.
