do you mind saying what kind you got that was awful so others don't get one? Found a couple for 10.95 but actually found this one for 5.00 Authentic Black Coil Master V3 6 in 1 Coil Jig Coiling Kit nano Micro Macro | eBay There are only a few though. would probably get this one if I had that in pp right now.
The coil jig to NOT get is called the UD Micro Coil Jig. It's like the designer quit in the middle of developing it and then decided to manufacture and sell the incomplete coil jig anyway. Unlike coil jigs that actually work, the UD Micro Coil Jig has no piece to actually grab and coil the wire around the various diameter shafts.

You found a heck of a deal on the Coil Master.

He was talking about it, not by name, on another thread. Gave it to a coworker, at night, woman that wanted to learn how to wrap coils, so on and so forth. You guys are from the same state, happened on the same night, same topper involved, he goes by the name of “chopdoce.” Who else could it be? I didn’t say a word over there but tell chopdoc all us old farts think that was a fantastically awesome thing to do and he now has a honorary, lifetime, non-declinable membership on the geezer porches. :D

Oh, OK. I rather figured it was something like that. I know he introduced me to ECF. :D

oh no. Sorry it caused you issues.

I second this!! and what a small world. What a nice guy!
Bitter disappointment about the watermelon, trying to think of something new. Caught the duck thing too, cracked me up.

I am going to make duck tape wraps so I will be able to tell Num-num and Binky apart. Plain Jane will just be herself.
Can't poor Plain Jane at least have a vape band? Poor thing.

You need more mods so I can giggle and grin when I read what you've named them. Yes you do. :thumb:
What amazes me is I actually remember their names.

This porch is such an amazing group of people :) Everyone is ready and willing to lend a hand (or an o-ring or a post screw or whatever). It's also such a pleasant place to visit. I have wandered into too many threads recently where people seem to be so snitty with each other (idk if the mods are going to rail on my term for "being terse" - if so, my apologies aforehand....)

@Rotowoman - building ROCKS. I'm finally getting the hang of it - for you to score a KF4 is AWESOME :) That another ECF'er took the time to teach you and be your benefactor - that rocks even more (even though he's been "ratted out" ;) )

Seeing stories like yours and actually feeling the "love" here is what keeps me coming back to ECF. I was debating over the past few weeks if it was time to stop reading here - I have enough other chaos in my life, I don't need interwebs drama on top of it :p

Thanks, everyone, for restoring a little bit of faith!

Yep, the porches are a great place whenever you need a lift, or help.

Read your post, then read his. Kept thinking, "What a small world."

There are a few wonderful communities on here, and the porches are one of the best. Like all families, we have tiffs from time to time, but we work em out.

Thanks Bells for letting us know. and jup if it's for real, that is a heck of a deal

What amazes me is I actually remember their names.
She's a Cinderella. She was my first experience in mechs. Then I discovered that she couldn't be kicked easily. The kick I used with her burned out, and I decided to not replace it. Now I am less afraid of mechs, and use her unkicked all the time. I like the side button. If I really wanted to kick her, it would be with a 18350, but with my constant vaping, they just don't last.

However, she has to be true to her name, and Plain Jane will continue to be plain.

Disadvantages of the version of the Coil Master that I got:
1. Neither the mandrels nor the "tops" are labeled for size, but eyeballing them to determine the size is not really a problem. There are updated models that do label the sizes but I haven't seen anyone selling the updated model for the price I paid for my non-updated model.
2. The screws in the top sections that grab the wire are inserted into the hole furthest from the center, and most of us will want those screws in the other hole. The screws are so small that this is not particularly easy to do. However, you only have to do it one time for each size that you use.
3. No case is included for storing the Coil Master and its parts.

I love my Coil Master despite those complaints. I suspect that many of the Coil Master jigs, possibly including my own, are clones rather than genuine articles. Here's where I got mine for $9.99 and free shipping: 5 in 1 Coil Jig 1 0 1 5 2 0 2 5 3 0mm Perfect Coils Best Prices | eBay

Dave, that's the Version 1 it's the one I have. V2 and 3 have grub screws instead of the phillips or flat on the v1 and they're supposed to do the coils even better. I would like either a V2 or a V3. I do have a hard time telling the difference between the 2.0 and 2.5 rods and caps.

I looked up grub screw: says it's a set screw. Can't imagine how a set screw could work better than the screws that came with my Coil Master caps. Are you using a Debanese definition of grub screw?

The screws on mine have cylinder-shaped heads with an Allen slot for turning with the included Allen screwdriver. The secret to inserting the screw in the "other" hole is to screw up... that is, mount the screw onto the Allen screwdriver pointed up, and hold the cap in inverted position rather than trying to screw down into it. Even I can build an absolutely perfect coil with mine... can't improve on perfection.

I'm gonna put a red mark on the 2.5 mm shaft and on the 2.5 mm cap, and put the 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm shafts and caps in my "spare parts that I'll never use" bucket. I'll be able to see the difference between the unmarked 2.0 mm and the unmarked 3.0 mm shafts and caps. Wile E Coyote... super genius!

Set screws or grub screws as they seem to be called on here have no heads and are what I call set screws and generally have a socket for an allen or torx key tool. Yours sound like socket head screws. Same thing but have a head on them and cannot go all the way down in the hole like a set screw. I have seen set screws with a slot for a flat tip screwdriver too.
