Not long after I became a member of ECF I ran across a thread where people were making their own drip tips from polymer clay. I posted there about the inadvisability of doing this as I have a pretty extensive background working with this clay. It's not something I want to put in my mouth and should have it's own dedicated oven for curing. Shall we just say...............It was not well received advice.

Just peeking in on ya'll.

Tried da Raven... nuttin' more than an ol' cantankerous crow! What we have here is just a dripping attie with a long tube. Luv da concept, but can hardly wait until it's designed properly.

Got my 18650's in and now vaping my new VV Gripper. Stuck a home punched 1.5Ω DC carto in the Raven tank and filled with Janet's JH... @ 3.3V, heavenly vape!

Decided not to coat the VVG with bed liner paint. I like the feel and will leave it well enough alone.

Isaac Tracking: Doesn't look too good for my area. Prayers out for the folk in Haiti!

Catch ya'll later...

dear Mike!

I'm talking about: Vivi Tank :

I just tested now. you're right in the ViviNova

Thanks for posting pictures of both. It helps clear up the confusion. I'm still baffled why they would choose to name them Vivi when they are totally different tanks. Most people think when you say Vivi Tank you are talking about the Vivi Nova being as they are the most popular.

I'm don't, but it would be worth a look. I think my primary concerns with any glue used somewhere on a vaporizer would be: 1. how warm will the material become, 2. how will it interact with various ejuice components and 3. how will it interact with electricity.

I wouldn't call it a phobia, but I do sort of have a heightened concern for materials we may unwittingly breathe. In one of my previous incarnations I was a luthier. It was a very rewarding occupation, but also one of the most potentially dangerous I've seen. No small portion of its lethality comes from the various glues, solvents, lacquers and microscopic-sized wood, bone, shell, plastic and metal dusts breathed while working—and heat is a factor with the risks as well.

I don't know if any in the eCig biz is compiling materials safety data info, but if not, they should be and no doubt will be forced to at some point if this stuff is to ever achieve some more official level of acceptance. I had so many MSDSs (Material Safety Data Sheets) for stringed-instrument building that they filled two three-inch ring binders. I can easily imagine such a collection related to eCigs being just as large or larger.

Luthier - that's what you call someone who makes stringed instruments? I never knew that. It was probably twice as bad for you smoking cigarettes while dealing with that stuff? I'm sure at some point there will be some kind of regulations on the safety of materials used in vaping materials. Without this thread and the intelligent people who participate here many people wouldn't give a thought to the materials being used, especially in the modifications many are doing.

Nope. Pretty much just said it was working for them and didn't want to hear anything negative. I kind of thought that maybe 'cause I was new to vaping they didn't think I knew what I was talking about. Only had one person ask for advice about how they should bake it. Just in case anybody here ever plays with polymer clay and makes little things, get a good toaster oven that isn't used for anything else. It's not safe to bake food in the same oven. I had a large portable convection oven that I used strictly for my sculptures.

Yep, the only thing worse than being on the receiving end of bad news is being its bearer.

I followed that thread as well, and I was so glad you brought it up to the folks. It chills me to think of folks inhaling vapor through polymer clay.

My own concerns about the dangers of stringed-instrument building came when I started doing it full-time for a living rather than for just my own interests. Even with the wide array of protective gear and precautions we employed, the sheer levels of hazardous material exposure was stunning. It would be no exaggeration to say that literally everything we worked with was potentially lethal and that a lot of it got into our bodies. From it, I know I have at least some lung damage (and God only knows what all else) that is entirely unrelated to cigarette smoking.

I actually laid off smoking for much of that period due to health concerns by getting into chewing cigars (an activity that got me nicknamed, "Grasshopper"). Later, I got away from premade cigarettes altogether and started making my own out of high-quality tobaccos void of all the poisons added in by Big Tobacco and have been doing that ever since. In that sense, I come into vaping from a bit of a different angle from probably most around ECF. I'm not here to save money and I'm not here to save myself from villainous products. I am here in hopes of saving myself from an addiction level that even when satisfied with much safer tobaccos, is still killing me.

Anger about all of this mess is perfectly natural and should be expected, but it should also be properly placed. I don't hate tobacco as do many in these forums. I do hate Big Tobacco though and am particularly aggravated at the high levels of addiction their products produce. I think it is important that we become knowledgeable enough to be able to make such distinctions. We were duped, and my guess is that the reason we are not yet seeing such a great deal of activity at the national level is because of some who are working hard for position so they my dupe us again. So, I think it is imperative that we all get smarter and a lot pickier about how we go about engaging this most enjoyable pastime.

Mis dos centavos. I hope I don't come across too overly ranty.
