I'm liking the Ce-6 much better after it set over night. I think the key to getting them to wick proper is to drip some drops down the center to saturate the wick. The wick is not exposed outside of the center tube and is perpindicular inside the tube with the coil wire looping up and back down. I haven't had any cracks yet. What type of juice were you using in the one that cracked?

I am happy that your CE6 is working out. The cracks in both of mine are still growing and they are just laying here empty. I am sure it is a stress thing not a juice that caused them to crack. Both of them had hairline cracks both top and bottom when I received them. Some of the hairlines are now up to 3/8 of an inch, some curved, some straight. Both were filled with unflavored nic juice. One @ 18mg and the other @ 24mg so I am sure the juice didn't add to the problem. One was for my Husband, the other for me. We each vaped one tank full. I filled them up the first night. Mine leaked all the juice out and his leaked half out. Needless to say I didn't fill them again.

Hello to all the older vapors here, I've read most of the thread and you all are to be commended for quitting the stinkies after decades of smoking!!
I have a smoking dad who has had a major heart attack, and I would love to get him a surprise ecig kit (maybe for fathers day?) do you think this is a good idea? he's pretty skeptical on the whole subject and pretty much only ever talks about it in the negative (ex. Don't those blow up and are dangerous?). How do you suggest I approach him? Im pretty sure he'll never try them on his own just because of the negative publicity it can get. Is it a lost cause?

Hello Squish, I think you came to a good place. Lots of Old people here with much wisdom. They helped this 61 year old/49 year smokeer of tobacco figure out what would work best to get me started and they continue to support as we all do here.

Send him our way after you give it to him, sometimes older folks will listen to other older folk and turn off the younger generation with their new fangled ideals.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Yepp, I left the general threads cause some of those other people well and found this one and a couple more that are older people, , I was more comfortable with my peers and felt safer.

How long as he smoked?

Eric did suggest letting them set for a while after filling them to allow them to wick better. I let mine set for about 4.5-5 hours. If I had watched LordDavons video first I would have known about adding some liquid to the center tube and wouldn't have had to wait so long. Guess Eric hadn't discovered that yet.

I vape where ever I go -have an ego on a thong around my neck at all times awake,
and carry my wood hog mod in pocket or hand also.
No one has ever complained- some people are curious about "what is that"( my mod) and I show them.
would stop if anyone did complain though.
Vaping is natural to me and probably why people don't even notice most of the time.

Vaping in public places?

Just curious about any experience anyone here has had with vaping in public places. I haven't done it yet, other than to go outside a restaurant where I normally would have gone to smoke.

Very curious about what people's reaction would be. Also, if any of you have vaped in public places, do you ask management first, or do you just whip out the PV and vape?

If you don't try something, you will never know !!!
Get him an ego kit, and ask ( and or beg ) him to try it.
Easy , safe and once he does, he hopefully likes it.

I did NOT_NOT want to quit smoking and even I liked it from the get-go.
Us old people have our security blankets and can be stubborn-LOL !!
Good luck !!

thank you !!
Negative posts are as important as positive ones, to me.
Both sides of issues are far better than one sided ones.

I saw that video this morning and confirmed I was on the right track by dripping juice down in the hole. The more I use it the better I like it. I'm just hoping I don't have the cracking problem.

I don't think you will have a problem with the cracking if yours didn't have the hairline cracks to begin with. I was just unlucky enough to have gotten 2 with cracks.

Ok, I am definitely getting him a kit for fathers day!! And I will also send him here, because it can be overwhelming when we first start to vape. He's been a smoker for 40 years, although he has cut down quite a bit, so not heavy I'd say 1/2 a pack/day. Think I'll get him the Bloog/volt kit, and a card with the ECF web address and a note to find this thread. You've all convinced me that I've got nothing to lose by trying.
Thanks everyone, vape on, vape strong!

OK, my first battery issue. I ordered 3 18350's from Madvapes for my Lavatube clone. They are button top but I know from reading that the LT (and clones) will use either just fine. I'm putting one of the new batteries in and the bottom cap is only engaging slightly and I get a tad upset. I measure the length of the battery and it's nearly 1/8th inch longer that the other 18350s I have - not including the button top. This is the kind of stuff that makes this whole vaping business frustrating at times. An 18350 battery should be the same size regardless of where it comes from. Now I have 3 18350s that serve no purpose while I search for some that fit...

I have 3 and just ordered 3 more. They were difficult to get into my devices and I was blaming the devices.

I'll bet it's the "protection" circuit and these were the right size before it was added. I measure them at 36.80 mm without the button.

From the "texasselectvapor.com" web site:

IMR-18350 Battery:
Voltage: 3.7V
Capacity: 800mAh
Length: 35mm
Diameter: 18mm
Weight: 50g

Just grabbed my reloading calipers and measured them:

Ones I got from Madvapes=37.75mm
Ones in the kit=34.75mm

The difference is 3mm - a lot considering it's supposed to be the same battery...

The safe bet is the AW IMR 18350 they fit and work perfect. I ordered some 18350 IMR that were flat top and they wouldn't work but luckily they will work in my LT Mini so they weren't wasted. You probably got the protected 18350's that are not IMR and with the protection circuit they are longer.

Sorry my brain is getting scrambled. lol I'm getting my threads mixed up. I thought you were talking about batteries for the V8. lol Same 18350 batteries just different problem. They will only work with the AW with button but won't work with flat topor the protected 18350's with button. What a mess I never knew there were so many different batteries until I started messing with mods. lol I've got a bunch of different kinds of batteries and some I don't even know what size they are because they don't have any labels on them. lol

What I have learned is that there are two things that fluctuate the length - the manufacurer's protection circuit and the mah of the battery. I have bought two of the same batteries, but at different mah's and there was a ml diff - the same with the protection circuit. I have one 18650 batt that will not fit in my mod due to its length. It was the largest mah I could find by AW, which also means it is the largest battery.

And a side note - the style of the flat top can also make a difference... Some have a beefed up ridge and some do not...

Edit: In the future I will want specs before I order.
