Probably TX but it is still irritating that you're expected to be an EE to buy freaking batteries.

Well, I have some giveaway items should I see any deserving person in need of protected 18350s. I just boxed up 3 Volt batteries for a newbie in MO that's on a fixed income and could use some help...

I know I went through the exact same thing with 18650 batteries as far as size on the protected and IMR's. Luckily I have so many different type mods most will all work in something although they are seldom used.

Thanks everyone who posted comments about vaping in public :)

Running to work...fun, fun!

I vape outside in parking lots etc and some people come up and ask me about them so I see it as an opportunity to educate. I don't vape in places where I think people are going to freak out because they think I'm smoking, but I do go out where the smokers are and stand to the side. (I can't believe how bad I must have smelled when I smoked) I have stealth vaped in a store and restaurant when people weren't around and I just didn't let loose with clouds of vapor. Never had a problem. I'm sure if somebody smelled smoke there would probably have been a riot and I'd be answering you from a hospital bed from being pummeled. Not enough people understand what vaping is about and I'd rather make it a positive learning experience for them. Oh, and I have asked if it was ok in an establishment before I just went ahead and vaped and then abided by their wishes.

I went to K-mart today to get a couple of things.
As I am walking down the ile I see a younger person(20-22) with a white stick and a brown end, walking around the store. So I did ask him. He had a disposable that a friend gave him. we chatted for a few minutes, I think this old man made him nervous.
Told him it can work and to goto the ECF forums and that there a re beetr oned than the disposable you got at the local store.

He said thanks .

First time I have seen any one here with an electronic cigarette that I was aware anyway.

I saw your posts over there and was so glad you stepped up to the plate to help him out :)

Hey all :) I'm in my early 40's and I had smoked almost 25 years. It took me a good month or so to switch from tobacco to ecigs. I started with an ego and ecopure. I bought a whole ton of juice and I can't remember exactly which one it was (perhaps a waffle from TV?) that gave me that extra push but it worked. Cigarettes started tasting worst than my vaping.. I allowed myself to do both until I just stopped.

I did that for over a year then started smoking when my buzz (my first mod) broke. I smoked for another 5 months and then a couple months ago I bought myself a provari mini and just started not picking up the cigarettes again. This time I'm making sure I have an adequate (hard hitting) backup.

I've tried to get my mom to switch from cigs to ecigs. She's 64 and has Rhumetoid Arthritis and smokes all day. But she is afraid of the liquid. (I don't get it.. she's seen the list of chemicals in cigarettes). So at first I tried her on an ego.. but she can't do much with her hands so that didn't work. Then I tried an ego-t tank where I'd fill a bunch of tanks up and she couldn't stand the taste( me either actually.. cardboard!)

I'm going to try her on the provari with tanks/cartos next since it seems the easiest setup and the one I use. I think I can fill up 2 tanks and just have her screw them on when she runs out.

She is still so afraid of the liquid nicotine (I get it all over myself constantly.. I don't care lol). Hopefully I'll find the magic combination of juice and setup for her though. Any recommendations are welcome!

I vape everywhere I go. Super markets, pumping gas, restaurants, airports, (not on a plane yet). Depending on the place I do try to be discrete. My favorite place I vaped, just had to do it, was in the country court house. Once in a store a clerk turn into the aisle just as i was exhaling. He looked at me like he was gonna give me the what-fors for smoking, I just held up the PV and said, it's not a cigarette, nothings burning, it's my personal vaporizer. He looked at me quizzically, then turned and walked away. It probably helped that it was my ProVari w/ a tank and looked nothing like a cigarette.

Hello Jeseryn
I think you in a good place.
I have smoked for 49 years, just started the E path about 3 weeks ago and I still do a few tobaccos, at some point I will forget to pick one up and that will be good.

What about the juice is she afraid of?
If its the nic get her a patch , if she is ok with that and let her vape 0% nic juice.
She gets her nic in a way she can work with and can still have that smoking habit that is well established with her.

Ok, I am definitely getting him a kit for fathers day!! And I will also send him here, because it can be overwhelming when we first start to vape. He's been a smoker for 40 years, although he has cut down quite a bit, so not heavy I'd say 1/2 a pack/day. Think I'll get him the Bloog/volt kit, and a card with the ECF web address and a note to find this thread. You've all convinced me that I've got nothing to lose by trying.
Thanks everyone, vape on, vape strong!

It's wonderful that you love your father enough to do this for him. I think getting anyone to try vaping let alone an older person is to keep it simple. Smoking is very simple so switching has to be simple or you'll lose them. Once you get him to honestly try it he may find he enjoys it. You may find that you've created a monster, but a free, happy and healthy one. You can be sure everyone here will be more than happy to help him along his journey.

Squish - What Janet H said.

It has taken me about 3 weeks to be willing and curious about some of the other ways beside a Cig looking VOLT.
I love it and it will be my main stay. Im getting a pipe , well have been gifted a pipe setup.
I think for me those two will keep me happy for a while.
It may take a bit for him to completely let go of the tobacco habit.
I still do 2-4 a day, but the want need is waning.

Hi Jeseryn
I'm older than your mom and have severe aggressive rhuematoid arthritis. Don't know what kind of meds your Mother is on, but they're all far more dangerous than the nicotine in juice. Maybe she needs to look at it that way. Her rhuematologist would probably be thrilled if she could give up the smokes. Mine bugged me for years and finally just stopped mentioning it as she didn't want to preach at me anymore.
Have you tried the stardusts on an ego for her? You could fill some of those up and all she'd have to do is screw them on.
Keep on trying for her

Hang in there CharlieGirl - you are not the 'other person'. You're own your own path, so it's taking longer. Like you said cutting down the amount you're smoking is a big improvement on where you where. For some of us, it's not so easy, but that doesn't mean it's not "do-able". Don't beat yourself up for still smoking, congratulate yourself for how far you've come.

Thanks Mike, you are the best. It is people like you that keep me going and hopeful, and what ECF is all about. Sure there is also plenty of technical info here too, but the heart is what keeps me coming back daily! Thanks again to you and all the others who have supported me on this journey! Blessings!

Jerseryn, is it actually getting the juice on her that bothers her? I have a friend who loves vaping, but thinks seeing the juice in a tank is creepy, even though she fills her own cartos. I have no idea what that's about. Maybe you could have some sani-wipes handy for her so she doesn't worry or maybe her fear is an excuse not to vape? It might also help to find her a flavor she likes. You seem to be going to a lot of trouble for her and I think that's wonderful. Some of us take a little longer to accept this new fangled stuff. You might try going to Youtube under vaping. Check out the older lady from England.

Jeseryn,

Before you give up on the eGo system, have ya had her try eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers? I highly recommend 'em; minimum muss n' fuss.

Another vote for the MDCC's. I'm vaping one right now. For those that don't know, these have an internal 510 thread. I've got it attached to a Gripper (also MadVapes) with a long 510 extension.

I think the larger size and the soft rubber mouth piece would be easier for Mom to handle. You could pre fill them for her if she can't squeeze or hold the juice bottles.. I vape hard and often and they last me a couple hours.

Hey CharlieGirl, like Mike said, relax and enjoy the ride. Your journey is not so different from others, but it's your journey. You should be proud of yourself!
