Older Folks and Vaping

I started the night before I turned 13 so it was 46+ yrs overall. I was a pack+ per day for many years. But I stopped imm with vaping since all we really want is the nicotine- that's how I reasoned it anyway. I have only wanted to smoke a cpl of times ... but I don't smoke anymore, lol, so I just vaped thru it. I quit on 9.17.11 and turned 60 this year. My sense of smell came back so strongly that sometimes it's TMI, ha.

I think the age of 13 was the most popular time to start smoking. Some one on this forum tried to do a survey for that and I remember the age 13 being used a lot... I started at 13 - sneaking my uncles smokes...

I know what you mean about smells - I did not know there were so many in the world that are so offensive until I got off the smokes...

I started vaping April 2011 and hardly even do it anymore. But what is going on right now is my delayed detox! Just this week all the symptoms have shown up from the dry, itchy throat to the headaches, night sweats, slight phlegm- the whole bit. None of that happened when I first quit. I did, however, gain 15 pounds right away even though I cut way back on fatty or sweet foods. At first I didn't pay too much attention but then noticed my sense of smell was intense. So vaping is the coolest thing ever, I think. Spend the money I saved on software, a new tablet and indulged in purchasing organic foods and products. All that progress is because of this excellent forum!

That is awesome- congrats! I agree that this forum has been a huge help- I only go to a cpl of specific forums now. I hope to eventually stop vaping but it may take longer than I originally thought- at least I did not stay on 24mg nic juice for that long. I wonder if my brain will need less nic when I finally retire? Sure hope so, ha. How many years did you smoke and how much?

Hi pearly and mpage, nice to have you join the thread. Congrats on leaving the stinkies behind. I didn't really start smoking 'till my freshman year in college. I distinctly remember coming out of my 1st math final and someone offered me a cigarette. That was it, I was hooked for the next 48 years. When I quit a year ago, I was 2 PPD+ for years. Vapin' has been a life changer for me. Never thought I'd stop smoking.

Maybe I killed my taste and smell buds as both have improved somewhat but not significantly. I listen to people talk about how good a certain juice tastes, and for me after a couple vapes all juices loose their flavor right quick.

OMG.....That's my vapenirsary also. I can't remember the year or date of anything (well, a couple) but THAT one is embedded.

I held out until I was 15. Not bad for growing up in a house full of smokers.

I think 13 was probably my start age also. It was 7th grade in school when friends offered me a cig. Didn't want to not be cool. I was pretty much 1+ day ever since although I did stop while pregnant. My family smoked, but they liked unfiltered Camels so I didn't steal much of them. Neither of our kids smoke even though Mike and I did so that's a good thing. They're very much into healthy lifestyles. I'm sure if it wasn't for vaping I'd still be smoking.

I started when I was 13 as well. Guess we should so all the anti smoking ads in Jr.high. I quit smokeing about a month a go and took up this vaping thing. Really works.

My first cig. Remember it well. I was ten. My brother caught me but instead of making a big deal he helped get me more. I got disinterested for several years and started again with my teen friends going to anti war and free press meetings. I never liked pot and I never really went over a pack a day. The first time I quit seriously was mid 20s. Glad I was in to the health food and be natural! Still, I kept starting then quitting after a few months about 7 or so times over the years and the last time I started (divorce decade) it lasted about 4 month then I got the Nicorette um and kept on chewing. 2 years ago I tried to quit to save money to like EAT ha ha. Hard times. After three months my boyfriend took pity on me when he came in the bed room a saw me what I can only call jiggling or rocking in bed due to anxiety. He said he'd buy them for me. Then he tarted paying my mortgage then he started sending weekly living expenses and bought me another horse and some dogs and goats to help keep me company while he is a long haul truck driver. 3 1/2 years later and I started vaping so finally off that gum. I had gotten used to it but a revisit made me so nauseated ugh. this is a love story btw. (. :
Goats were replaced by.more dogs, cats and horses.
Yesterday I bought the fully mechanical mod that will carry me to the end of life from a really special guy. A Flair
Of course I must have my Vamo on the way too. I doubt I'll go computer friendly mod. But ya never know!
Oh and it was a Taryton. My first cig. I remember the smell unlit more than the taste. So you see I really dint smoke so long but I believe when a person starts young and all the formative years stuff it is a big identity crisis to quit. I can imagine 35 years would be unbelievably weird and I think vaping is a really huge invention! Like airplane or something. I started @ 17 but feel like I had actually smoked from before I was born. Both mom and dad smoked as did everyone during my growing up years. You hear of those just starting out, coughing and turning green. None of that for me. When I lit my first one it was as though I had been smoking all my life. Fast forward 46 years.......I am proud to say.....I am no longer a smoker. Just passed my one year smoke free anniversary and looking forward to the rest of my life as an ex-smoker. Ain't life grand.

The blue T3's are really pretty. Hopefully I will be able to get my hands on a 1000 to 1300 mAh battery to go with them. There's bound to be one out there. Just haven't found it yet.
