When we DIY though, the flavorings don't have tobacco right? Even the ones that are made to taste similar to tobacco unless you put tobacco absolute, right? I'm gonna have to check all mine LOL. Fooey, I hope they don't have it...I'm pretty sure I'm ok though.

My hubby recently had gotten a new job with the State (hated it and didn't stay). The health insurance for me required us to pay $60 a month on top of my premium because at the time I still smoked a few analogs a day and had to say yes to "tobacco user"

I'm thinking of getting a rebuildable atomizer. Problem is I can't afford much. Is there anything out there that's affordable and still worth bothering with? More specifically, something good for someone with poor eyesight and not particularly good fine motor skills?

I've heard that some RBAs are just plain poor quality and that some are made such that they're hard to work with for us half-blind, shaky-handed old folks!

Vision Eternity, AGA Tiamat/Plus, Dream Tank, Terminator, AGA Hydra, AGA-S Satyr, Griffin, A5, Cobra Clone, Pegasus A7, Phoenix, Siren, Wyvern, . . . . .

Any suggestions? Maybe I just shouldn't bother? Or, has anyone found one that might be worth a try?

Kat. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but "tobacco user" is pretty much out the window now.
That question, on most all forms, has been modified to "nicotene user". Which includes cigarettes, nic gum, nic lozenges, e-juice with nic, anything with nic.
The question is "Have you used any nicotene product in the past twelve months?" Most all will do a blood test to check your nic levels to weed out the fibbers.
I went through all this a little while ago looking for life insurance. Their lame excuse to me was that if you are on nicotene, you could go back to cigarettes anytime.

That's the rub. They test for nicotine in your system to determine if you're a smoker. So, even if you're on the patch you're going to be considered a smoker. Whatever. I do know that when I just went for my physical the doc listed me as a "former smoker" on my chart. He was thrilled that I was vaping.

I think that if they go after "nicotine products" it won't include the flavorings because I don't think they contain any nic. You have to add nic to your juice.

What do you use to clean the center pin on an eGo? I didn't realize they need to be maintained and after a few days of vaping cinnamon it is sticky and I need to keep pulling it out :( I tried isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush but it didn't seem to touch it..

Ken, the black crud in the eGo fitting (or any other e-cig battery for that matter) is a combination of battery corrosion and e-juice that gets in there. I used to have this problem back when I was using factory made cartomizers. I still have a problem with the ones I build, but the corrosion is usually white or sometimes kind of green (and more difficult to remove).

I used to swab them out with a paper towel or Q-tip to clean out the excess. Then I would put a drop or two of e-juice in the fitting and stir it around with a tooth pick. This mixture would usually allow most of the crud to be removed after another swabbing. Most of the time I would follow this up with another drop of e-juice in the fitting and just sling it out.

This may sound crazy, but think about it a minute. The air that is pulled into the cartomizer must go through or past this nasty crap. If the juice is delicate it will actually change the taste, or it did so with mine. However, I can't say that there is anything delicate about your cinnamon, heheh. So, if a certain amount of e-juice is going to get in there anyhow, why worry about a wee bit of clean juice that is left in there after the cleaning?

A cartomizer does not actually have to leak in order for juice to get in this fitting. Even if it's properly filled it can still get in there, especially if it is a filler-less type such as the CE-2 and its knockoffs. Condensation is one way, which can vary according to different juices and how they are vaped by the user. There is another way, but it is too involved for this particular discussion.

About the center post contacts. The rubber like grommets for them are not only insulators, but they also act as cushions so that miss matches from factory tolerances or different manufacturers will always make contact. The most common cause for their failure or near failure is from over tightening. This is often caused when the user completely closes the gap between the device and the battery. Most of the time it's okay to close the gap if the battery and device is made by the same manufacturer, but this is often not the case. Therefore, the gap should be ignored and only closed enough to make a good electrical connection.

After continued abuse, these grommets become distorted and sometimes even damaged to the point where they no longer recover their original position enough to make an electrical contact. When this happens, the contacts can usually be pried out enough to work. However, they will not spring back once they have been moved enough to loose the electrical connection and repeats can be expected.

I recently had a nicotine level done, I vape using omg and 6mg, the test came back as a 0 on a scale of 0-6, my doctor said I would be rated and listed as a non user, I guess there was not enough in my system to register.

I wish someone with big money cared about what's going on. Its such obvious discrimination and reminds me of lynching days. All forms of bigotry have been supported and encouraged against one group or another down through history. Geez, my great grandparents were Irish and went through it. People don't change. Nic is a legal substance and its contained in foods.

Something I've never understood is the nic percentages. Folk seem to feel obligated to things like 6%, 12%, 18%, 24% et al. What's with the 6 system. A decimal system is so much easier to play with. I buy 100 mg nic and mix roughly 10 mg liquids and it's so much easier to figure it all out if I don't have to actually use a calculator. Using a base 10 system instead of a base 6 system seems to me to be a no brainer. You know, in advance, if you're about to mess things up badly. Is it just me? Maybe I'm too old or too metric (although I wasn't born that way) but it makes more sense to dumb it down a bit. But then, I'm old (well... compared to last week) and maybe I've forgotten and ranted about this before.....

I was so excited all week expecting some new ejuice that I won in a contest on Monday to be delivered, it didn't come yet :(

I was also excited all week expecting my Vivi Nova to be delivered by today too. According to the USPS tracking page the package was delivered already, somewhere in Illinois (I live in California). I emailed the vender earlier today and haven't heard back from them.

Dang it!!!!!!!! Dang it!!!!!!!!! Dang it!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I will clean out some cartos and clearos tonight and hope I can find a couple that still work well while I continue to wait - grrrrrr

Nic percentage is per ml. If you have 6 mg nic, you have 0.6 per ml. Did that answer tour question?

It's not a question as to how to figure it out. It's a question as to why folk have decided to use a base 6. If you use a base 10, it's all nice and easy percentages and everything is much easier to play with.

It just puzzles me as to why the norms are based on variations of 6. It makes it harder to mentally make sure that you're ending up with what you want.

It's easy with a calculator but if you're just winging it to begin with, sometimes a base 6 is confusing. A base 10 is just easy. It's a decimal system that works. You can see if your calculations are wrong instantly because they, all of a sudden, are far too large or too small. With a base 6, you have to do some extra thinking just to find out if what you're doing may be completely wrong.

I've had no problems but then I looked at it the way I'm suggesting from the beginning. I just think that perhaps it might be a better way to look at it generally.

But then I've always been viewed as a bit of an oddity......
