I ran across this post which might be a good read for those of us who are stocking up on nic. Never hurts to remind people about safety and the need to mix REALLY well, especially when dealing with high concentrations. Kurt and Dvap are chemists. Lots of good info on nic safety on ecf -

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Scott EE! I would be careful of your dilution, however. The liquid must be fully mixed, and if it is thick and without much headroom after the addition of 100 mg, you could have significant hot spots of nic, and actually I would expect that. I actually, for that reason, opted to store it at 100 mg, and then dispense from a bottle with euro dropper via syringe for my DIYs. If you happen to have a magnetic stir plate, which most will not, then mixing this 50:50 can be done. But these liquids do not diffuse quickly like pure water, so make sure it is mixed well, please!! You want to know exactly what the conc is when you make a DIY juice. PM me if this doesn't make sense. What you think is 50 mg might be closer to 100 mg if it isn't mixed uniformly.

This is why Chris at MFS will not make 100 mg VG anymore, as it is too thick, and the nic which is added to the top might not mix uniformly. I cover that in the Storage thread. If you add PG or VG to the 100 mg liquid, rather than the other way around, at least the 100 mg will be on the bottom. And doing it little by little with mixing along the way would be better than just combining and screwing the cap on and storing.

Thank you for posting this Janet. I buy my nic juice in a pg base and even then I always shake mine really well but it is good to have this info posted often. When I first started on this journey I had read that e-juice needs to be shaken but didn't know why. This makes a lot of sense. To this day I still gently shake my juice each time I use it. I don't know if ingredients will separate between uses but no need to take a chance.

I need to get some blunt tips and a bigger guage, the VG is like trying to suck silly putty into the syringe. I hav actually taken the needle off and it's a lot easier and faster.

Silly putty, HA! Yes, especially if it's cold. I pull the needle off syringes too, but when I need a lot of VG that's when I use the little beaker and just pour it in there to measure. It's just easier for me.

It's bottom coil like the T3 but instead of the replacement head being all one piece, it can be broken down and only the actual coil replaced so it will cost less. I've resisted trying a T3 or MT3 because I knew these were coming. That is one reason I've stayed with the T2 - I love the low cost of use on them. I'm not ready to purchase the eVod YET, because I will for sure want to wait and see how much the replacement heads are, but I'm very excited.

Oh, and I wanted to let everyone know I got my new 5 longer wick version of the T2 replacement heads (I found out these are actually version 3, even though the vendor calls them version 2) and have been using 1 for about a week now. For me, it's a big improvement because they don't gurgle every time I turn around, and don't need to rolled around to keep them feeding. Yay, I hate gurgling. In a week, this thing has only gurgled twice I think.

Kat - ok that is good to know. I hate the gurgling too - I think that is why I am still not 100% convinced on the T3. I know that it has been recommended to not let them get below 1ml - but that only works well if you want to designate one flavor to it and keep refilling. Right now I am still changing flavors a lot - trying to find what I like.

I will keep my eye out for these in the future. As for the longer wick T2 replacement heads - I see one of the vendors I order from here in Canada (cheaper/faster shipping) has the long wick heads. Wish I would have checked for them when I put in my order last week. Oh well there is always next time. The one T2 I have been using does have the longer wicks and it has been pretty good for not a lot of gurgling - I just noticed that the one I haven't opened from an different vendor has shorter wicks - guess I will need to pay closer attention when I order in the future.

Great to have all of you help with pointing out what us newbies need to be looking for

I see I missed a co-op on the 500ss mesh. Ah well, I have plenty of time.

Yikes - that was a 'long' co-op. It was supposed to be done before Christmas. The co-op manager got sidetracked or 'sumpin' and just this week some of the last shipments were made. Some folks had to buy 'retail' because it took so long to get the shipping out to people.

Hmmm? The beginning of the year 'they' tweeted 15% off any purchase in January. When I look at the page it says something about 15% off for orders over 40 pounds and 15% January sale. Not sure if you have to spend that limit to get the discount. But The Mesh Company's quality can't be beat.

Yes, that thread did seem to be anti RTS, but I've never had a problem with them.

I based my initial order with them after reading a post by Kurt who has been a chemist for 30 years. His lab analysis showed the RTS nic was one of the vendors to be accurate for nic content as labeled...

... and with the highest nic purity at that time!

I'm definitely an RTS nic fan. Awaiting my latest RTS order for the nicpocalypse®.

Evidently there was a problem with a vendor (BoxElder) sending an order for nic that was WAY higher than it should have been so he checked several samples from different vendors.

BTW, the referenced BE nic was not RTS!

Smoked since I was 15, now 58. Just switched to e-cigs a little over 2 weeks ago. Had a 3 year period when I did not smoke at all. It started for me when a relative had a BluCig he was vaping. I went and bought one to try out. It was good for my first time. Then went to a local smoke store and got the Choice 7's starter kit. I like it and will use it for a while. Purchased an additional battery, e-liquid, a couple of atomizers and blank cartridges. I did not have much info to go on initially but have learned a lot by browsing the web for info. When one of the batteries dies I will probably get a 510 or the 7's hybrid.

Smoked since I was 15, now 58. Just switched to e-cigs a little over 2 weeks ago. Had a 3 year period when I did not smoke at all. It started for me when a relative had a BluCig he was vaping. I went and bought one to try out. It was good for my first time. Then went to a local smoke store and got the Choice 7's starter kit. I like it and will use it for a while. Purchased an additional battery, e-liquid, a couple of atomizers and blank cartridges. I did not have much info to go on initially but have learned a lot by browsing the web for info. When one of the batteries dies I will probably get a 510 or the 7's hybrid.

Good for you 73!! If you want to start small I'd go for an ego instead of the 510. Much better battery life.

Fran don't be spooked - it's doable. I was really anxious about all the 'this and that' to set one up. But watch some video's, read some threads, and it'll come together for you. And of course I'll be here to help. I'm no expert but I'm getting better each time I set one up. Do you use Skype? We could work together 'cross the net if it'd help. (actually the offers open to anyone of ya that are working with RBA's).

ummm - yes actually there is something else - do you happen to have a creme brulee torch? I confiscated Janet's from the kitchen for oxidizing the SS mesh when making wicks. If not, something like this one - on sale now at:

Congraultions 73! And so the journey begins! I hope you enjoy the ride as much as we have. Lots to learn, lots of choices and lots of info and help from this nice people here. Hubby and I started with the kr808 and went to the eGo because we got frustrated with having to recharge so often. There's a lot of choices in that line, priced resonably and they're pretty reliable. Might want to check them out and see what you think.

Fran: It's easy once you get the hang of it. There's a vid I watched when I got my RBA and this guy wraps a coil lightening fast.
I think the hardest part is making the wick.

Torch? Now you're scaring me!! Mike I have no idea what Skype is. LOL

Don't let him scare you - it's the little hand held torch that you use in the kitchen to singe the sugar on top of creme brulee. Even I can use it - you just push the button. Just watch where you point the thing.

You use Skype to see each other in real time on your computer. Mike set it up for us at Christmas and even ran a cable to the TV so our daughter in Denver could spend Christmas with us while we all opened our gifts. It's free. He'll be back in a bit and can explain it better. Do you have high speed internet?
