Did you record the serial number? On your next laptop, consider getting tracking software for it.

Mike, what's the difference between Kanthal A1 and Nichrome 60?

And, what's the best cotton to buy for wicking?

The Kanthal is a more durable wire than nichrome and withstand the repeated high temp 'hit ups' better. Most people are using Kanthal, particularly when working with SS mesh wicks. I've never used nichrome so can't talk about it from personal experience. Obviously Nichrome is suitable 'cause that's what is used in everything coming pre-wicked from China (CE's, Vivi Nova's, RBA's).

Cotton: Peaches & Cream Brand
Bamboo yarn: Aunt Lydia's #10
Hemp: Hemp Twine Cord 1mm 20 Test 5 10 or 25 Yards Color Selectable | eBay

These seem to be the clear winners in the threads I follow about wicks. Particularly the hemp, it's the only hemp that seems to work well without adding taste to the juice. I've got some of this hemp but haven't used it yet. I've used the 'above' listed cotton and bamboo in Vivi Nova's and prefer the bamboo, but many people like the cotton. Do remember - when using any of these you need to let the wick soak good before using it. I wet it good around the coil and let it sit 5-10 minutes before firing it up. Also - you can't dry burn to clean the coil, you'll just burn the cotton/bamboo/hemp. Depending on 'what' your rebuilding, like a Vivi, it's just as easy to slip out the wick, dry burn the coil clean and just thread new yarn through it.

Mike and Janet the strangest thing happened to me today. I went into Bed, Bath and Beyond for a new cake pan and walked out with a Creme Brulee torch.

Now I wonder why that happened - are you taking dessert making classes?

I just took a break and have to ask: is there a difference in Boge cartos from vendor to vendor? I, previously, have only gotten 2.0 Boge cartos from my regular vendor (about 10 boxes in all) but last month I got two 5 packs from another vendor where I had to go to get something else. These cartos just don't seem to perform the same way either in draw or juice flavor. It doesn't taste bad but the taste is barely there. They also don't hold as much juice and take forever it seems to soak in. They almost sound flooded also with what even fewer drops than I usually use. This has been my ADV for 4 months so I'm real familiar with how it acts and tastes. I heard about Boge gate but that was some time ago and the vendor I bought these from I'm sure has too big a turnover to have had some old bad ones left. Is another Boge gate starting up?

hmmm - or is some Chinese manufacturer making fake Boges?

I got my tanks from the co-op but not sure what to do with them. They won't work with my fusions.

Ahh - that's not nice. I saw those tanks in the co-op, they looked real nice. What's the mix-up? Do the fusions just not fit into them?

I wonder if IVK's 510 Fusions would work. Next time I order from Isaac, I'm going to try some of those and see if they are as good as the original 801 Fusions. Would be nice not to need the 801/510 adapter.

I'm back and got a few questions...

Mike, is this a good source, price point and the correct wire for rebuilding tanks and stuff. I have a few Kanger T3's and plan on getting a couple of Mini Novas and want to order wire and wick at the same time. This is who I use for batts and they have been good to me, but I want to double check on the Kanthal wire before I hit the buy button. I am looking at the 30 or 32 (100 ft)...

Next Question... How is the Vamo?

I was looking at it and I like the idea that it is convertible from a mini (18350) and a regular (18650) with little effort. I could be in the house with it in 18650 mode and be headed to the store and just spin it open - pop out the extension - pop in the 18350 batt and head on out with something that now fits in my pocket - and then reverse it when I get back home... Even have some mini tanks to shrink it even more...

Good, bad or is there something better? Quality - etc?

I just got mine in the mail today... thanks to Kat's help... and I'll let you know. I haven't received the batteries I ordered yet (a different vendor) to test it but I can tell you this so far. It's shiney and pretty... has a really nice deep well and a nice feel to the button... clicky but not too much... the threading is good and... Oh... and its heavy... feels really substantial. I'm not used to that kind of weight but I'll adjust and will only be using it as a backup for now.

I got my vamo a month ago I think for the money it's one of the best but that's just from reading nothing but a 1300 spinner to compair to.

Semi - that's good vendor pricing for 100 ft. You can save a couple bucks over that price on ebay but won't do significantly better. I like RTD Vapor, purchased from them a number of times. Only 'glitch' is they're located here in PA so I have to pay 6% sales tax. They have a coupon code, I think it's ECF5.

Like a couple folks already said, it's a pretty good PV at the price point. Heavy is relative, compared to my SS Provari's it's not heavy. Mini mode is relative too. In short mode (w/ 18350 batt) it's as long as my full size Provari w/ an 18490. And in long mode w/ an 18650 or 2x 18350's for me it's too long. I never use mine in 'long' mode. They've gone through about 3 versions of the spring. Some were too weak and an 18650 batt would rattle enough to lose connection and turn off the PV. Some were too thin and it would heat up when chain vaping. I think they have this sorted out by now though. When changing batts, you have to 5 click it to turn it back on, but thank goodness, it doesn't loose it's voltage or wattage setting. I can live with that. If you get one, make sure to switch it to RMS output mode for a consistent vape.

Well that's a minor blessing to the loss.

Kari, thanks, good to know our petition 25k requirement is "grandfathered". Looks like we've gained 1k signatures since I checked this morning!

Tumble, glad to hear the laptop wasn't wasn't one of those expensive ones. Sorry about your recipes.

SEMI!!! I don't know whether to welcome you back or tell you I'm sorry you had to come back. Well, at least you missed 1/2 the winter. You must be freezing even with the warmer temps today. Stay warm!

Thanks Mike. I did not realize that it was that large. I will have to read more before I hit the buy button. I have enough gear for now, but am looking for one more device - hopefully one that will last and hold up for a while. My current collection has an estimated life span of about 2+ years by my estimates - so I am looking for something to take it beyond that mark - just in case...

Later note: I checked and man it is almost one inch larger... I will keep looking for now...

Mike these tanks are rather strange, The hole in the bottom is small. A carto of any kindl won't go thru, just the 510 threaded end. Then it won't fire. It comes with a round block thingy that has male and female 510 connections. You screw this block onto the end of your 510 carto and then screw it onto your PV. Makes for a heavy tank. Glad they were cheap.

Well, I'd just hold onto them. The way things keep changing something is likely to come along that will work with them that you'll be happy with. That odds and ends stash could come in pretty handy one day.
