I'm 58 , smoked for 43 yrs. Stopped on 2/11 with an E cigalike from a local Drug Store, my wife also. After spending tons on going back buying prefilled cartos decided to research this on the internet and was amazed at all the E Cig stuff out there!! Its mind boggling!

Then got into buying my own juice from Mt Baker Vapor, filling cartos...now on an EGO filling mini viva tanks....so movin on up as they say!
Yes, it is mind boggling for sure. If you want ideas on how to spend money on vaping, you came to the right place, lol. The biggest improvement that I've experienced was when I got a couple of 1300mah Vision Spinner batteries (about $25 each). They're variable voltage, from 3.3 to 4.8 volts, and being able to push the voltage just a little higher than the 3.7 volts of a regular Ego battery made a big difference for me in vapor production and taste. I normally set it between 3.9 and 4.4 volts.

Welcome Papacrane! Believe me, it just gets better and better! We're a very friendly group of people more than happy to welcome new vapers and helping along the way. We all started with boggled minds and some of us are still boggled, but we've at least helped each other along and are enjoying the ride (well except for Fran who one time almost resorted to a new use for an estwing, but she's over it now.)

Sounds like me when I first started out, and I have a shoebox full of unused batts and juices to prove it!

Once you find your groove though you're all set. :toast:

Oh and welcome to the madhouse. :rickroll:

Welcome PapaCrane - you have come to the right place for any questions you might have on how to get the best vaping experience or just on how to spend money  Great group of folks hang out here. Congratulations on finding a way to give up on smoking. I am 58 too - but I smoked for 46 years. I moved up from the Colibri minis that I started with to two eGo twists and added a 900 mHa spinner and am now making my own ejuice thanks to all the great help I received from the wonderful folks here.

Well, I smoked for about 50 years--started when I was about 12-1 to 1 1/2 packs a day. My son who has smoked for about 30 years started vaping last year. He now does not smoke or vape. He suggested I try vaping. He told me where to go to get the ejuice and what flavor to try, but I researched for about a month on what gear to buy - reading a lot at the new members forum here. So I ended up buying 2 eGo Twists 1000, some Mini ViVi Novas and some Kanger T3s. Went to vermillionriverejuice.com and bought the Kentucky Applewood and K-max ejuice and waited for it all to arrive. Got it all on April 1st and haven't had a analog cig since. I love the ejuice flavor! Now if only I could talk my husband into vaping and not smoking!!!:)

Well, since I'm past a year I have to post. All is well with me and I'm so glad I made the decision to put the smokes down last year. I still use basically the same hardware I've used for the past 9 months or so - EGO style batteries and Kanger clearos. I can tell you for a fact that once you find what works for you, life becomes routine again. For a time I went crazy trying all the latest gadgets and I have a whole drawer full of mods and batteries before I realized that simple works for me.

My buddy gave me an EVOD clearo and I like it as far as vaping quality but it's not as easy to fill as a T2. I've also tried the new Kanger EVOD battery and it works well I just don't care a lot for the flush mounted switch as I actually have to look for it rather than find it by feel. In the past year I've helped to convert about a dozen folks to vaping and I'm happy to say they are all still on the path. My wife asks me sometimes if I will quit vaping and my answer is - who knows. For now I'm comfortable with this new habit and have no plans to change my lifestyle yet.

For those of you beginning this journey - stay focused as you can leave the smokes behind...

Hi Papa and Barefoot....Welcome to our little corner of the vaping world. I was a 50 yr. smoker annd I am still amazed at how readily I switched to vaping. I no longer worry (almost daily) about the health dangers of cigarettes and, like NGIB, don't know what the future holds. I used to be a smoker and tool junkie. Now I'm a vaper and vaping gear junkie.

Welcome Papa and Barefoot. Glad you found your way to vaping. I'm yet another person that was a smoker for 47 years and never thought I'd kick the nasty habbit before I kicked. So glad that my wife and I made the switch about 1 1/2 years ago. Please do hang around - the group here only gets better each time new folks join in.

Congrats NGIB - really like hearing that simple 'works'. It shows that you don't need a lot of gadgets and/or high end stuff to be satisfied with vaping. Way to go!

On an Ego battery, the collar greatly reduces the amount of air you take in with the ProTank. Just make sure the bottom of the tank is snug against the collar. A gap between them will defeat the effectiveness. The difference is HUGE. I don't believe it's possible to put the collar on an Ego with the wide side down because the Ego button gets in the way.

*Comes out of cinnamon roll vaping bliss and sees this* Ah, yeah, on an eGo you are right, but I am using it on a MVP.....it fits either way on that one. the eGo is just too top heavy with a protank on it....

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping Barefoot! I too smoked for almost 50 years when my husband and I ordered our first eCigs. I never expected to quit smoking, just cut down my PAD habit, but was shocked that I never picked up another cigarette once I tried vaping. I enjoy vaping and am now making my own juice so it's all good. It's amazing that we smoked the same flavor all those years and now find there's a whole new world of flavors out there!

I thank it's a lot harder to talk someone into vaping though. Everybody is different and people need to be open to try it when they're ready. Seeing more and more people vaping will help others to accept and try it. Probably the fact that you're not smoking and are enjoying vaping is a powerful example for your husband. When pressure was put on me to quit smoking it made me light up!!

Congratulations to you for leaving the cigarettes behind! If you have any questions there will surely be someone here who can give you answers or point you in the right direction Good folks here!

Ok..advice time. :) My infamous dripping dripping atty is now dead dead dead! I'm torn on what to acquire next. A site I have been perusing has a 3 pack of attys for $20, BUT they also have the SmokTech DCTs in a 3 pack for the same price. (I already got one 3 pack a bit ago). Then there is Litecig....who has a bigger selection. Which do you recommend?

I've made 3 containers of joose, each one with a different tobacco flavor.

All 3 are artificial tobacco flavors, not made from actual tobacco. Still, all 3 taste very much like tobacco to me; too much so in fact.

And that is why I have two bottles of menthol flavoring. Menthol straightens out anything! (When I smoked, I smoked menthols.)
