So what's wrong with liking menthol? I add it to anything that ain't got it.

LOL... nothing wrong w/ it... just TIRED of that being "ALL THERE IS". I add ICE to everything too.. and I'm TIRED of it.

Dave... you would prolly like the Artic Wolf. I LIKE ice and menthol and it hit my throat and I coughed my .... off! That stuff from Vapor God is STRONG!

I don't need to PUNISH myself with it, lol. I've had two store-bought jooses with too much menthol, but that was good, because I bought them with 36mg/ml nicotine. By the time I cut them down to 22mg/ml nic by adding PG, the menthol was just right.

Well, since I'm past a year I have to post. All is well with me and I'm so glad I made the decision to put the smokes down last year. I still use basically the same hardware I've used for the past 9 months or so - EGO style batteries and Kanger clearos. I can tell you for a fact that once you find what works for you, life becomes routine again. For a time I went crazy trying all the latest gadgets and I have a whole drawer full of mods and batteries before I realized that simple works for me.

My buddy gave me an EVOD clearo and I like it as far as vaping quality but it's not as easy to fill as a T2. I've also tried the new Kanger EVOD battery and it works well I just don't care a lot for the flush mounted switch as I actually have to look for it rather than find it by feel. In the past year I've helped to convert about a dozen folks to vaping and I'm happy to say they are all still on the path. My wife asks me sometimes if I will quit vaping and my answer is - who knows. For now I'm comfortable with this new habit and have no plans to change my lifestyle yet.

For those of you beginning this journey - stay focused as you can leave the smokes behind...

Congrats NGIB!:toast: Good to see you post being as you've not been on lately! We miss the old timers when they aren't around often.:)

Welcome to the thread Barefoot Okie and PapaC. I hope you make this thread a daily visit!:)

Let's see...
MBV has very good ice juices where you can taste the fruit along with the menthol. I like the blue and black ices. Try their wild cherry with 3 extra shots and see if that shocks your tongue. Before vaping any non-menthol try adding one teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of lukewarm water and use that to swish around you're mouth a few times.
A dill pickle a day helps keep vapor tongue away.
Let me know if any of that helps. :)

Well, that should teach me to keep my mouth shut! I got a lovely bottle of 0 nic juice (you know who you are..lol) its RAWR peach fuzz. Mad the mistake of saying to the daughter who lives with us "You should try this" Next thing I know my 2 cig a likes and a couple of de-fillered cartridges turned dripping atty, AND the peach fuzz are missing. There is the smell of peach fuzz coming from her room! She's never smoked. And the juices with nic she 'sampled' tasted like oil and perfume to her. She's currently perusing AIV and making a list of 0 nic to try when they open.....Not to worry, she won't take up vaping full time. I think right now its 'novel' and will wear off in a day or so.
She is over 18 - yes?
A lot of the younger people in my area are finding social vaping and hookahs the "new coffee shop". I have not looked into the hookahs, but 0 nic seems ok to me

Well I was able to replace the duplicate with a second reply... Ecf has GOT to be overloaded with all of us people on it.
JMO: even though it's slow, the double posting thing has got to be some kind of glitch that can be fixed.

I wonder if different browsers respond to the problems in different ways. I use Google Chrome.

How long was "quite a while"?? I can SMELL that Peach... and the Highbrow Dark Cherry. They smell so good. But taste... ACK. *sigh* You'd think if I could SMELL it, I could TASTE it..??!

It seemed like forever at the time. Honestly though, now that it's finally behind me I have tried but can't think of how long it really was. And there were some that I could taste other than menthol but they were few. That was the reason I loved the Highbrow ones. What PG/VG ratio did you get? I got 80/20 even though I prefer higher VG. My understanding is that PG is a better flavor carrier so I did that trying to get the most flavor...

The smell/taste thing is also something I felt. Stuff smelled like wow but tasted like nothing. I know it's frustrating but hang in there. It just takes longer for some folks buds, while others are lucky. Tain't fair I tell ya!

I've also noticed that some jooses taste great in one joose holder type, but different in another. I've noticed a big difference in flavor delivery with the Innokin iClear 16 I recently tried on Fran's recommendation. I was like WOWZIE it really IS better - YIKES! Maybe that would be worth a try for you? I know I'm glad I listened and got me one! Getting more hehe!

Just to add a personal experience to this excellent advice.

I am 3 weeks smoke free now and my tastebuds have not bounced back all that much yet.

I picked up a SmokTeck Redux CE5 clearomizer. Made a HUGE HUGE HUGE difference in flavor. Several flavors I couldn't taste with the Ego-C setup (the ego tank system) taste WOW with this thing.

in fact before this gadget about all I could taste were menthols and that icky dry hit taste and burnt atty taste you get so much with the Ego_c tank system. :p

I had already mentioned the foolishness of me buying two of the Smoktech Ego airflow controllers, since I have only one device on which I wanted to try using the product.

Turns out that the 510 extender I bought to make the airflow controller usable on my Vamo does a more than adequate job all by itself of reducing airflow.

Long story short: I have two of the airflow controllers that I will never ever use. First two fellow ECF pals who say they'd like one will get me to invest in a postage stamp and send it to them.

Got my Kranger Pro Tank from Catskill Mountain Vapor Store. I got in when they were 14.00 now they are 15.00. No shipping. Super good deal if you want to try it on the cheap. Which is exactly what I wanted to do. Filled it up and started vaping no issues. Flavor is good, vapor is good. Didn't think about my tank killing tangerine in the apocalypse kit before filling it with watermelon so that will be my second tank but so far so good.

Re: Kanger Protank from Catskill Mountain Vapor Store: I know there are several of us who have received and are happy with the product and the delivery time. I was contacted privately by one person who said they placed their order one day before I placed my order and says they haven't received their Protank. I got mine on April 12.

Re: Kanger Protank in general: I bought one Evod coil to see if it behaved differently than the Protank coil. It's not a scientific assessment but personally I can tell absolutely no difference between the two. Right now I have the Evod coil installed in one of my Protanks and the Protank coil in the other. I cannot tell which is which when vaping.
Edit: OK, maybe there is less airflow with the Evod coil. I thought I was detecting a difference, checked the coils, and the tank with the Evod coil was the one that I was feeling had less airflow. For my tastes, that's not an advantage so I was probably ignoring the difference. However, the difference is insufficiently dramatic for me to even be sure that it really exists other than in my imagination.

[Question.... I am still fighting the ashtray mouth and just worn out by it. I ordered 12 new flavs from Vapor Gods, HHV, and Highbrow... and once again the only ones I can "taste" is the peppermint and the Artic Wolf from VG. All the others just all basically taste the same... like "smoke" or a relit ciggy ..... There is a very VAGUE flav in a few, but just YUCK. Is there anything TO DO about this? I am beginning to wonder if because I was a menthol smoker for so long, and now also vape only ice and mint flavs... have I just KILLED the tastebuds permanently? I can taste diff drinks, foods... but not so much w/ vaping juices. Anything not iced or heavy mint is just awful.

FYI ARTIC WOLF from Vapor God. HOLY MOLY. This stuff is like vaping an entire bag of HALLS cough drops. If ever you have a stuffed-up head, this WILL clear it out. STRONG, STRONG.

Natasha, I can so feel your pain  I haven't been at this very long compared to some - but if I am remembering correctly (I do get CRS too) it did take several months before I really could taste much that was either not yuck or a menthol. In fact I still go to my Peppermint every day - because anything else I cannot taste.

I started with an RY4 that was 70pg/30vg and at 18mg - just about knocked my socks off. After vaping it for a week I did get used to it - but lowered my nic to 15 when I ordered juice from a very popular vendor up here in Canada. Got several bottles of his juice that everyone loved - could not taste anything or it tasted terrible. Some of those bottles that others love are still sitting in my storage box and I am not sure I will ever like them.

Then about 2 months in - I lost my taste for anything for several days. I was very frustrated - I kept reading all these great threads of others loving one juice or another and I could not taste anything. At this point (I think) I did get some DIY supplies. So I mixed up some non-flavored nic juice and vaped that for a few days. Went back and tried some of the original RY4 just to see and it was really bad. Mixed up some Peppermint and an RY4 with some of the flavors I ordered and could finally taste them.

Now - I have not smoked menthol for probably 23 years - but I do find in my eRoll - I prefer a menthol tobacco and I do vape some Peppermint every day. My actual favorite - but it does lose flavor if I don't switch during the day is either Green Apple or a Green Apple/Cranberry mix.

I too keep trying other flavors - I did mix a Strawberry/Banana Cream that is actually very tasty - but I only really enjoy it after dinner - almost like a desert.

Sorry for this long story - I just wanted to share that you are not alone. I still wonder if I will every really get full taste back after 42 years smoking, however I am finding some flavors that are working for me and I will continue to try a few for awhile - just in case I find something else that I can love. I may have to try some bakery flavors again - just in case and I really want to find a coffee and or chocolate - but we will see.

Good luck - and keep on trying and I hope you too can find at least a few that you do end up loving. :vapor:

I'm a 'fan boy' for da solid 510 extenders! Going back to da new 'airy' Kanger tank issue, not counting da PV 510 protection connector aspect, I find that da extension is a cheap and an invaluable device.

Well there's some ideas I haven't seen yet. Might be worth a try. I tried to "like" your post, but that button must be broken...

Here's an ecf link for discussions about not being able to taste. Maybe something here will help.
    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/search.php?searchid=16217423

Just realized this link won't work. I went to the advanced search and looked for can't taste juice and there's a whole list of discussions about it. Thought maybe there was something new to try somewhere in there. At least we know it's not an isolated problem and most people say it goes away.
