Age doesn't matter that much here. Is 50 old? It is if your looking for a job. Many engineering companies don't favor the 50+ crowd.
Don't worry that you haven't totally quit cigs. Just think about the one's do didn't smoke.

Ok am wondering about the definition of "older folks" now. I'm 51, does that mean I am among the "older folks"? Yeah ok, probably.

Smoked since I was 15. Tried vaping a few years ago with the njoy crap and it didn't work out. Started again a couple of weeks ago with a couple of mods, an MVP and a Vamo and am loving it. Down from three packs a day to about two packs a week and expect to be totally off of them in about another week, maybe tomorrow as the one cig I had tonight tasted like crap.

I wouldn't worry about wasted juice. I mean, it doesn't cost $10 a ml. I am thinking that I ought to dump any remaining dark or darkening juice remaining when I refill.

That is what I do regularly .. I dump the old, darkening liquid and use fresh .. there may not be any real reason to do it, I just prefer to refill with fresh liquid ..

Welcome welcome and welcome ..

I framed my original NJOY from years ago and I daily tap a small gong next to it and chant "Thank you for helping me along this journey" .. ;)

Question .. I decided to try a clearomizer .. eGo CE5 2.1 Ohm .. on an eGo 1100mah .. I filled it as suggested, let it sit for a while, twirled it .. yet I am getting a hint of burnt taste ..

Thoughts .. ?? Tips .. ??

I think I may be in that same boat ... I'm not one for experimentation beyond what already works for me .. so, I'm back to my carto/tank combo ..

@Willie re: CE5... I had the same experience w/ a CE5 "clone", just thought it was maybe because it was a "clone" tho... I had it on a VV/VW and no matter what V or W I tried, it still tasted like crop.

1) Is there a decent-performing top-fill clearo/tank/something/anything out there that I could top off during the day without having to up-end it and take out a juice-saturated part with no place to set it, and end up getting juice all over my fingers sitting in my van in a clients parking lot at 2pm? Don't get me wrong, I love the evod for TH, vapor, flavor, etc., but it is truly a PITA to fill on the go... takes three hands, and wet paper towels, too. Guess I just need to order a bunch and fill 3-4-5 every morning...
It seems to me that a bottom coil clearomizer that can be filled from the top addresses both the filling problem and the burnt taste issues mentioned above. See Kat's post, quoted below, for a possible solution, although I don't know for sure whether it can be filled from the top. Can it, Kat?

My newest joose holder :) Pyrex/stainless steel and my own driptip (it comes with an SS drip tip but it's huge!) It uses Evod coils.

Nope, it has to be filled from the bottom. I don't foresee any need to have to fill on the go though. If I top off in the evening or morning before I leave it should easily last me all day.

I see there is a total recall on the Groove and Smoktech is destroying them and will not make anymore. I am really bummed because it has become my main PV. They will replace it with any other model but my problem is I can't remember what supplier I bought it from. I've got to find out more info about it. It is going to be difficult for me to stop using it being as I haven't had any problems with it and I really like it.:(

This rebuilding stuff is quite a time drain. Approximately 5 hours to make a stainless mesh wick that worked and get it up and running. The 5 hours counts the time spent on the 5 or 6 failures that preceded this build.

Protank, please convince me that this isn't worth the trouble.

yeah, but how long did it take you to learn and how many scraped knees before you learned to ride your 1st two-wheeler? It was worth it wasn't it? Where's a Willie video when ya need one - 'ya got to pay your dues before ya play the blues, ya know it don't come easy'. But FWIW IMHO, it's worth it.

I must have played around for a couple-few months before I finally got the hang of it. I'd mess around for a few nights then give up and let it sit for a week or more. Then spend some more time - get frustrated, put it all aside again. Then it started coming together and now if I'm not vaping an RBA I'm just not satisfied w/ anything else. I just spend 1/2 hr cleaning up 4 of my Duds and they'll be good to go for the next week. The wicks/coils in them are all at least two months old and still vaping well after they're weekly cleaning.

I appreciate the encouragement. There really wasn't much chance of me giving up, but right now my Protank DOES vape better than my AGA atomizer due to the fact that my build isn't too good. The other atomizer/tank I have, a Smoktech Drunker, continues to be an OK vape but for whatever reasons it's not nearly as good as the AGA when the AGA is doing well.

I just don't have good enough close vision and fine motor dexterity to be a natural at this coil and wick building. The 26 gauge Kanthal I got is beautiful to work with because I can see it, but it's impractical for my purposes due to the extremely low resistance. I tried using my camera viewfinder as a way to see what I was doing in greater detail but my camera won't focus as close up as I'd need. I haven't gotten a strong magnifying lens yet but it's on the short list.

I remember clearly the moment I learned to ride a bike. Dad was teaching me by holding on to the back of the bicycle seat to keep me balanced as I rode on the street. When I turned my head around to say "hey, you're running really fast", there was Dad standing in one spot about 30 feet behind, smiling and giving me a big wave.

I mailed a letter to you yesterday.

Nice story about you, your pop and the bike. Loved it!

I couldn't rebuild anything without using something like the headset in Kena's post about. Mines not lighted but I couldn't to without it!.

I've had this AGA-T2 and a few ceramic FC2000 slotted wicks around for a month so tonight I finally got around to setting one up. I'm still using 30g wire - I shoot for 1.6-1.8 ohms - which is 5 full wraps on the 1/8" wicks. Here's some picks showing how I use a washer to help control the positive lead hot spot so common on the AGA-T's.

If you look close you can see the pos lead still has a small hot spot in the 'open air' where it's not touching the wick. It seems to go away though once I have juice in the atty and the wick is wet.

And a couple shots showing how the small washer helps.

This took me about an hour tonight which included taking the atty apart and washing it in hot soapy water before setting it up and doing the 'hot wrap' of the wick on the coil. Ouch! gotta keep your fingers away from the torch flame.

These slotted FC2000's do 'wick' a lot faster when the PC is tilted. Not sure it's actually wicking better but you can actually see the juice flowing in the channels. It may actually wick too fast and flood the coil if you're not careful about how much tilt you give the PV. My 1st impression is - I'm not sure I like them better than the solid round ones. I'll have to vape a tank and then see how i feel.

Oh yeah! I didn't get to the Post Office yesterday. I'll have some of those small washers in the mail to you tomorrow.

Hey Tumble, you've peeked my interest.
Where's this smoke shop you found. I may live close enough to get there myself.
Sure beats going over the mountain, and Spokane is 120 miles the other way.

Note on the dredges .... when my juice gets close to the bottom, thick, and dark, I add a few drops of unflavored "base" to it.
It really freshens it up, and brings back the original flavor.
That way it doesn't get wasted.
I've found keeping that bottle of unflavored base around has come in real handy.

I also use a drop out of it to wet and test my new rebuilds. Don't want to waste the goodie stuff
Besides, then the wick doesn't have a flavor on it that doesn't match what I may put into.
I usually save them up, and rebuild a bunch all at one sitting.
