No you guys are amazing, you actually brought tears to my eyes and I am a pretty tough old broad.Nobody really understands how hard it is.The thing is I really cannot breathe if I smoke 'just walking out to to the car is hard.I have to lean against the car to get my breath.Everytime I see some one smoking I want to tell them to stop but we know that doesn't work. Thanks for your support. Yeah I do slip sometimes too.

I've slipped a couple of times myself in the beginning - caught with nothing but dead batteries (not enough backups or grabbing dead ones as backups) and heading to the boonies where there aint nothing available but cigs... or just thought okay only 1 more then I will quit... Swore when I got home I would throw them away - didn't - smoked them (maybe one a day, but smoked em)... Now, I check before I go... and I do not listen to the little voices (I still get them)...

If you ever feel you are going to slip - talk to us... There was this lady on this forum called kezygirl or something like that - talked me through getting off the cigs - gave me lots of encouragement and advice... I do not see her around the forum anymore, but I will always remember the extra support she gave me while others were yelling and calling me stupid...

We will not yell... just give support...

I will represent the senior citizen crowd...My name is Ron and I am 36 years old. I have been smoking since I was 16 and recently quit as of February 2012. Hate them as most do but I have to give all the credit to Blu! I of course have passed that on to my father in law and now use and enjoy eGo and eGo styles. Picked up that darn Blu cig and threw the rest of my pack in the trash, never looked back!

Ron -

Welcome Rook! Good for you for quitting the stinkies. A lot of us started with the "cigarette -like" eCigs and moved on from there. I think we're going to look back one day and remember when we were all learning as this whole thing got going. New things seem to be coming out all the time. Can't wait to see how this develops given a few more years.

Welcome nansc to the older group, glad you found us..

OK folks I need some recommendations on vv large batt devices..been looking at the XL3 and some others with the 18650 batt so anyone got some faves..

I am coming up on 1 year and I'm gonna treat myself to something new..

Mike and I are both gonna say "We love our ProVari"....LOL. I just bit the bullet and bought one instead or spending money on several on the way. (I did buy a LavaTube first, but sold it to a friend when I got my ProVari). I'm kinda looking at an Ovale (Discount Vapers) as a backup......
but also thinking about just hangin' in for a while for a ProVari Mini.

If I was around smoking all the time I would have to smoke so it wouldn't make me nauseous. I'm not around smoking at all and I can smell cigarette smoke from at least 30 yards away, probably 50. If I'm real close I get sick to my stomach real quick. I now understand what some of my relatives went through when I was around. I had one sister in law that would complain if I was 25 ft away outside and it always bugged me but now I understand.

Thanks for starting this thread.I was a smoker for over 50 years.I have of course gone down the usual path.Chantix,(quit for nine months, albuterin ,couln't quit any now I finally found e cigs.I started with a couple of junky expensive ones then I found a 510 kit that helped me stop.It was kind of a rocky road but I did it.I have COPD so I really had to quit.I'm now using an ECHO 900 mah.I would like to upgrade more but my budget is a little tight.I still have a little trouble when I get stressed but try to keep on course.

Welcome nansc! Congratulations on sticking with eCigs. Hang around here for awhile and you'll hear about all kinds of devices. It's a fun journey to find what makes us do the vaping happy dance.

Cigarette smoke doesn't bother me too much yet, only been vaping for 3 months and my husband still smokes but I do find the smell yucky! Unfortunately, I can't seem to convince him to even give vaping a try, he's not budging....... So, he's just gotta smoke by himself outside, there's no smoking in the house anyways, while I'm happily sitting inside vaping away. LOL! If I do go outside with him, I turn away from the smoke. Doesn't make me nauseous but it is unpleasant..... Did I really smell like that?????? YUCK!!!!!!!! :)

Yep I have looked at the provari and that is possible but I am not a big voltage guy so might be a waste with the provari and that is a lot of coin..

I am still looking around and even thinking about a e-pipe also but most of those are not very large batts and I hate charging batts every few hours..

My wife is "trying" e-cigs and when she lights an analog, the smell is really noticeable. I actually find it unpleasant and that's a good thing...helps me not be tempted. She told me today she's not as happy with her analogs and she asked me to show her the ropes filling the cartos and charging the batts. Yay!!!!

Ironically, she planted the seed for me. She took a 10 hr. car trip with our granddaughter and didn't want to smoke with her in the car. She bought some disposables and showed them to me when she came home. Then the rechargeables were mentioned on a woodworking forum that I attend. I love cordless tools and now I love cordless cigarettes :vapor:

I also gave her some links to suppliers to check out all the flavors that are available.

When I tried quitting in the past, if it didn't move I would eat it. This time is really different. I'm enjoying the taste of food more but my appetite is "normal". I'm sure grateful for technology and your support.

Semper Fi !! Please support our troops !!

I am going to side with Harley Diva and Mike on the ProVari recommendation. I don't go over 4 volts on it myself, but it is nice to adjust it that .1 or .2 volts to bring out the flavor in a juice. I've got a wide range of cartos and its nice to adjust the voltage to the resistance of each one. I rotate 2 18650 2000mah batteries and each one lasts me almost 2 full days and I hit it pretty hard. The really impressive thing about it is the build, you just know your going to have it for a very long time.

Whatever you buy make sure it is something special, a year is a huge milestone and you deserve to spoil yourself.

NansC, you are pretty amazing yourself. Dealing with the constant temptations you must have an iron will.

This older group of has been a blessing to me, they've helped me out several times in moments of crisis, and they are just a bunch of good souls. If you click on the link in my signature it will take you to the Lounge where there is talk of all sorts of things besides vaping. We're old, we get sidetracked a lot.

Best of luck to you and I hope you'll visit often.

Thanks tiny, I am still on the loook and the provari is still in the running for sure. I might have to buy the provari and then the mini because I always carry two devices with different flavors cuz I like switch hit..

If you just start your own thread, you'll get the help you need. Let them know you're new at this. Trust me, no one will talk down to you or make you feel uncomfortable. They're a good bunch.
Jewels Thanks

Flavor West Dr. Pepper

I changed back to my 555 in a carto that came with kit and sitting here and vaping away I did notice it was getting as warm so, I quit worrying.
I get very confused and overwhelmed when I go to the DIY section here on ECF

I'll just say - yes. If you like to smoke tobacco then imho you'll like vaping even more. I'm 51 now and smoked since I was 12 years old (a pipe) - but luckily I discovered this stuff back in 2008. Now my only health issues are fast food and beer (or should I say additional pleasures) (amongst the many) :)

A few days ago or so I inquired about e-pipe and something that was cheaper that the Jazz
I got a reply, but I can'y find it and I can't remember what was suggested.
I hope some one does or can point me in a direction.
The last couple night when I have gone out to walk or just be out side I am vaping much Ike I smoke a pipe. Rarely inhale just enjoy and play with smoke.
Daytime at work is different, but all things change and are therefor changeable.
So I am looking into options that will server me well with what I have that is serving me well.

Thanks

I told him I had to make sure I never missed a life insurance policy payment.Don't be sorry,I'm the same way.I kind of think it may just be habit for him he did it yesterday and said he probably shouldn't be offering me one duh.....My brother has the same problem with his wife,he bought her an e cig and she won't use it and she just had a major heart attack. He quit smoking and she's chainsmoking in the house all day. It's just too easy to grab a drag.Smoking really is the devil isn't it.
Nancy

Nanc - Sorry to hear what you're up against. I hear alot of these, I'm not an analyst but I somehow think that misery loves company & wonder if they're afraid of not being able to achieve whatever the goal is - so for them it's better to not try & risk failure. So sad....I quit in 4 days after almost 50 yrs. of smoking & believe me when I say I loved smoking! My best wishes to you in what you're doing & just stay strong.

Variable voltage really is worth it. I don't vape at high voltages at all....mostly between 3.5 and 4.3....but the ability to change with the juice does totally make a difference in a lot of the juices. I didn't think it was a big deal either, but having tried it, I wouldn't buy anything new that wasn't VV.

Smoking is a great pleasure, but it has health issues associated with it. Death is one of them - but show me pleasures that don't involve risk. Even if you spend your time walking across fields in the countryside you can catch Lyme disease, which is no fun. Listen to music - you can go deaf. Read in poor light - you can lose your sight. Risk is attached to everything we do, but that's not always negative - it can add spice to a plain dish. As adult people as long as we are aware of what we are doing and any associated risk then we are not just behaving well but in an exemplary way. It is when risks are ignored that trouble can happen. We've probably all been there.

IMHO vaping just works. It works, and I'm grateful.
