Hi again. I started a post in the atomizer section but got no responses so I'm kind of hoping people here are familiar with the ego mega tank atomizer type b. I tried one and liked it. Not as much as the simple boge cart, but since the mega held so much fluid and gave a decent vape, I could bring it with me when I go out and not have to worry about refilling. I used it for six days, then it died. Maybe it was me, I don't know but these are some details that might help make sense OR, they just don't last that long...which one is it?

1. I used it on an ego twist anywhere between 3.2-4v
2. I rinsed it out with hot water at two different times, first on day 3 and second on day 5. It worked thru day six, until the evening, when it just died.

After rinsing it out I blew through it to get out any water and dry burned it with short burst clicks a few times (I could hear the sizzle). The first time I rinsed it out and dry burned it, some smoke came out, so I figure it was residue. The second time I rinsed it out, it sizzled when I clicked the button, but no fumes came out so I stopped the dry burn. It worked fine afterwards, then just died. I say it died, because, now, if it's attached to the battery and I click the button, nothing comes out and I don't even hear a sizzle.

Did I kill it?
I thought these things could last about a month?

I don't use that atomizer although, I do a lot of dripping w/ IKV iO6 atty's. Yep, it died. I gave up on cleaning them. i used to either soak them in alcohol or vodka. Let them dry real good, give them a short dry burn and put them back in use. The last time I did this - 3 of the cleaned ones died within a couple days. I don't know if it was co-incidence or cleaning and dry burning them led to their failure. So now I just blow them out real good once a week and keep on using them. I only clean them if they really stop performing, as a last resort.

Maybe it's like an old motor you didn't take care off. Never change the oil, etc. Then one day you say, it's been 40,000 miles since an oil change, I guess I should do it. So you do, and the engine fails. It's like the old gunk was holding it together and when you clean it - it breaks down. he he.

I'm not familiar with that atty - but I'd think you should get a couple-few weeks to a month use from it.

Probably. I would dry burn those with a lower voltage (3.4-3.7). That method takes longer to clean but less 'stress' on the coil.

I used the B for a very short time, so I can't help ya with life span.

That reminds me...does anyone know where I could find a manual for mine?

I know the basic usage of a VOM, but the last time I had one it was an analog RatShack Micronta in 1985. :D

I'm good at google, but there is NOTHING out there about this DMM. Which is funny because the local community college had dozens of them for sale. They had to come from somewhere???

There are some functions and stuff on this one that I don't know, like the PNP and such...just bugs me. Works great otherwise though.

I guess it would date me to see emitter-base and the first thing I think about is vacuum tubes.. ;)

More like cathode, plate and the various grids (control, suppression, etc.)...

I didn't get any solid state theory until after tech school ('65)! Geeeeze, that was waaay back when the air was clean and sex was dirty...

Sounds a lot like a kwm2a guy to me

That's just a lil' babe compared to the ground radio relay systems I worked on. Got crossed trained into Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) where the excitement & knowledge level went up several dBs and dropped me into the solid state universe. Luv'd being on da 'leading edge' of mil 'tronics!!!

Anyone wanna delve into high voltage special purpose tubes (klystron, TWT, magnetron, cyclotron, etc.)? Naw, me neither at this stage in my life. But I can hardly imagine where we are now, ECM-wise! Gotta luv phase arrayed xmitters & receivers, thanx to da digital age.

Thank ya'll for lettin' me reminisce a bit!

ETA: I wouldn't trade my mil career for any amount of money or position. It was so far beyond the occasional 'peeks' I post here!!!

It's like he's trying to talk to me. I see his fingers moving, and there's words going up. You're cute kid, but I can't understand a word you're saying!! :D
