Good Morning All. Hi to Pathfinder and JayPMac. It was a HUGE moment in my life when I went out the shop and returned with the 4 analogs in a pack I had squirreled away. It had been a week since I had been tempted. I gave them to my wife who has begun the transition.

I've spent a lot of money on devices and juice but I think it's less than I would have spent on analogs in the same time period. Now that I have the hardware (Yeah, right), I'll be spending a LOT less. More importantly, I feel better. The last couple years seasonal allergies had me house bound. This year the pollen is worse but I'm not as bad.

I don't need to sneak away from family gatherings, little league or soccer games to "get a fix". I've been known to :vapor: in restaurants and stores....even while waiting for tires to be mounted. It's a new sense of freedom.

I don't know about the safety or long term effects of vaping. Given the way I was hooked on analogs, I don't really worry about it. I know where I was headed...COPD, heart attack, stroke. Now, I have a decent chance to hold a great grandchild.

Semper Fi! Please sends thoughts of peace and safety to our troops!

Today I celebrated 2 months without a smoke, like you said "it was well worth it".

Congrats Tiny - keep up the good work?

My last analog was 22 days ago!!!

I think it was Ben Franklin that said it takes 30 days to form a new habit. You're well on the way. Cheers!

In Vaping, I've realized there is no One-Experience-Fits-All. That said, here's mine.

I was a pack-a-day smoker (Marlboro, Marlboro Lights) for 55 years. For the past 10 years, I'd had persistent cough, shortness of breath when I exercised, lungs filling with fluid when I lay down at night to sleep, and a chest X-Ray two years ago that revealed a thickening of the top walls of my lungs. "Typical for a longtime smoker", I was told.

Was I in any immediate danger? No. But I couldn't deny that cigarette smoking would eventually kill me.

All of the above should have been sufficient motivation to quit, right? Nope. Then last fall, I met a woman and fell in love. That did it. I switched to Vaping on January 7 of this year. I cannot tell you how delighted the both of us are with my decision. She told me there were days last Winter when she thought: "He looks terrible. Grey. Is he going to be with us much longer?"

Two weeks after I started Vaping, my body began to detoxify. The coughing stopped. The color in my face returned. Lung capacity increased. Senses of smell and taste returned. Halleluiah.

Still craved analogs (one or two a day), though, and wondered why. Turns out that there are non-nicotine compounds/alkaloids created in the burning of tobacco that are psychoactive -- and part of the reason many of us started smoking in the first place.

If you're not satisfied with the the Vaping experience, you'll want to read this thread.

Although I don't visit ECF as much as I did when doing my 25+ hours of research in December of 2011, I still love to read the success stories. One interesting statistic: only about 2% of analog smokers have tried an E-Cig. I certainly intend to spread the E-Cig gospel as far and as wide as I can!

Hi Jay,

Thanks for telling you story. Don't be a stranger to the thread. There was an outdated reference in the blog about no one selling WTA juice. Since the article was written, there are now 2 vendors selling WTA e-liquid; Aromaejuice and Vapelicioius. There are a few of us in this thread that use it. Oh yea - the link in your post was broken - here's a fixed link.

Thanks Janet H

As far as Medpeople saying it is dangerous I truly believe that big money (tobacco, nicorette and others) learned from drug co's to influence some mds as vaping is a threat to their profits.

That could be true, but I also think it's the social stigma that has been created that smoking is bad so anything that looks like smoking must be bad too. I think a lot of it is simply that docs don't know much about vaping. More and more docs are happy that their patients are getting off analogs and onto vaping though. Hopefully the trend will continue. When BT and gov't get together and determines a way to tax vaping supplies/equipment things will change quickly.

Congrats on your success! Hope you enjoy the ride and drop in anytime. There's a lot of info about different things people have tried. Experimenting with new "stuff" is fun.

Good morning everyone. I hope ya'll have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Welcome to the thread Riverboat. Your story is a bit different being as you must have been around 36 when you started smoking unless of course you quit at different intervals.. Most of us started in our teens or earlier. The good thing is your lungs should heal up real good!
It too is interesting you have been vaping for 2 1/2 years but have only been on ecf for a couple of months. Not being nosey but just curious. You must have had a good support group or another forum to learn about all the different mods you have. I don't think I would have made it without ecf being as I don't know anyone else personally that vapes.
:)

I was 37 when I started smoking... Crazy huh? It took me awhile to join ECF, not sure why.. I use to read all the post but never jumped in.. I did alot of research on the internet at first and watch the reviewers on Youtube.. Started with a Joye 510 2 1/2 years ago but quickly moved up to a Provape1 with Joye 510 LR attys.. I vaped with that set-up for almost 2 years until I decided I needed a bigger battery mod.. Thats when I bought a Precise+ 18650, next I kicked it..From there I got my Provari V2.. VV or VW is the only way to go IMO...I belive so much in vaping that I figured I had to join ECF to give back to the vaping community....
Funny thing is, I live in Scottsdale Arizona, and besides seeing a few people with "Mall e-cigs" I have never seen anyone else vaping a MOD.....
Just had my first check up at the Doctor... Heart and lungs sound great I was told... Thanks to vaping I belive.......

After all the failed attempts I made trying to quit smoking I had the attitude that I didn't care what it costs I'm willing to pay it if it works. I've made some bad purchases on gear and ended up with some awful juice but I don't regret it. Today I celebrated 2 months without a smoke, like you said "it was well worth it".

I ditto that on awful juice. Finding juice that I like is still a task. Alot of the extra gear I loan/give to friends to try to hook them off of analogs. Congrats on your two months. I just had my 3 month anniversary without analogs.

We have another forum in the Lounge called Older Folks 55 and up where we do more socializing along with talking about vaping. We have to be careful about socializing too much on this thread or they will move it from this forum and we want to be here to meet new older vapers. It is easy to forget which thread I'm on. lol Most of the same people and others are over there too so everyone please join us there too so we can learn more about you. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/289745-older-people-55-up.html

How do you like your Kick? I bought one to use on my Indulgence but it didn't fit right so I sold it in the Classifeds in about two minutes. It worked real good when I had it shimmed proper but was a big hassle to take out to adjust. I know they work real good on many mods but I couldn't justify buying another one right now. I will probably buy another VW device one of these days when they have one that you can adjust with a button and I'm sure they will have one other than the Darwin soon.
By the way they have a pretty big active Vaping group in your area.

I was taught 28-30 days. The first 14 if you can hold it then the success rate of establish the new habit increase.
That is a paraphrase of what John Twoponies told me. and I have found it to be close to a reality for most.

Just found this thread this morning and have been catching up on all the post. Some great stories and information. The other thread has been so busy, as have I, that I couldn't keep up. I'll try to stay up with this one.

I lost the link for Iffy cons, so I'm wingin' it with the defaults.

I found esmokes in 2009 and got my first in 2010...I knew back then that I could quit if I'd stay with the esmokes, but I wasn't quite ready to quit. Seems most smokers like smoking and risk it regardless of health consequences. Fortunately, I haven't had any of the ill effects that many have had to endure as a result of their love of cigarettes.

Had my annual physical yesterday and Dr likes that I traded the analogs for the esmokes. I have a website (I'm in the process of updating) I use it to promote as an affiliate for various ecigs. I haven't done much updating in the last 6 months so got to get busy again, my Dr. ask me for the site address so he could send some of his patients there. (Like my Dr.) :toast:

No intention of advertising my website here, this is just an example of the difference in Dr's. I use my esmoke in the waiting room :vapor: and in the patient cubical even when he is discussing test results, etc. :vapor:

'Wifie' gets embarassed, 'cause I :vapor: everywhere I go...I'm a vaping nut case! Like, not sure whose signature it is...If I'm awake I'm Vaping! and I'm vaping everywhere going thru about 6-8 Ml a day. I do some DIY juicing, some form scratch and some I buy and cut or use as is...Bobas Bounty and Gorilla Juice from Alien Vision are my favs and I do buy from Good Prophets, too (Good Sales there - This weekend too!) :vapor: Actually there are several other sites I purchase from, but those are where I buy ejuice...mostly.

My last analog was 5 Feb 2012...haven't looked back! :vapor: Liking the :vapor: too much and not worried about the small little 'I think I'd like an analog' moments, they don't last long and I still remember from the many times I quit before how the first puff is so disgusting.

So, :vapor: on y'all. I'm lovin' it! Have a great weekend. God Bless the U.S.A. our Troops and all the wonderful people in this great country! I shall return!

If anyone has bought a 1.5 LT there has been a glitch found in them that can cause them to melt down. One of the suppliers is recalling all of his after it happened to his while it was just sitting on his desk.
The problem stems from hitting the power button too many times causing it to go into a low power mode and you think it is off but it isn't. Evidently just setting in this low power mode for several hours can cause it to meltdown even without hitting the button from what I understand. I checked mine and sure enough it does as explained.
Here is one thread about it. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...talclearvaping-com-information-thread-59.html

Glad your found the thread newesmokr. Congrats, your four month mark is coming up soon! Is your website listed in your profile?

I'm a big fan of Gorilla Juice also, I use it sparingly for a couple of weeks until it "matures" and then hit it hard. I'll add a little more banana to it once in a while just for a change of pace. Boba's isn't bad either, it always tasted like GJ without the banana to me, but the Gorilla has sunk it's claws into me. With them both being 100% VG the plumes of vapor it produces is as close to smoking tobacco that I've seen.

Have a Great Weekend!

I tried doing that but I cannot remove the check on auto correct. I was hoping somehow to add the word vaping to the spell checks lexicon. I will seek advice on this from an expert.
As far as Medpeople saying it is dangerous I truly believe that big money (tobacco, nicorette and others) learned from drug co's to influence some mds as vaping is a threat to their profits.

I have known my doctor for over 20 years and we kind of talk on a personal level as well as a doctor patient level. He told me that he cannot openly suggest e-cigs since they are still an unknown - legal stuff and all that... He is happy for me and pats any of his patients on the back that change over, but cannot openly suggest it... Still tells all of his smoking patients that they need to stop smoking of course and offers patches etc. to any that want to quit...

I actually joined the vaping group in my area a few weeks ago on Facebook... My Kick? It was ok but it was hard to remove from my Precise+ 18... Once I bought my Provari I didnt use it... I actually sent it to GrimmGreen, he had one but his girl Amber(The Vape Babe) didnt... I gave it to him and told him no charge, a gift for all the videos he produced that helped me when I was new to vaping... I think the Kick fits the best in a Silver Bullet which I dont own... I will probely get a VW mod at some point, I did like the fact that no matter what resistance atty you put on your mod, it adjust to it giving you the same watts...........

We are on the same page...I add banana.to thGJ and cinnamon to BB. I agree they seem related in taste.
Easy on the cinnamon. I'm trying to duplicate BB and hope to make me a GALLON of it and add banana for a change. :D
