I'm only 31, but I was a smoker for 16 years when I started vaping 3 years ago. I started with a DSE901 starter kit and the hardest change for me was making sure my batteries were always charged. I moved on to a Mako a few months later and was completely in love with it (continued to use the 901 atty with it). I used it for 3 years when my last adapter broke last month. Now I'm using the Rider Robust and I've found a new love in VV/VW devices instead of mechanical. I feel like I have a lot more control over my experience now. If I feel like I don't have enough throat hit then all I need to do is crank the power. I haven't messed with making my own juice yet but recently I've become very interested and started doing my own research. I feel healthier, my running has improved dramatically, no more dry cough or morning phlegm in my throat, I just over all feel healthier, my chronic bronchitis has gone away. Oh I might need to mention I was on average a 2 PAD smoker but now I run 20 mL of 36 mg nicotine a week and have no cravings to smoke nails.

I, too, vape with the kr808d-1; sometimes the Volt, but Bloog and EVcigs have good 808's also. I have tried others- the 901's (nice & lightweight), and I have a VV, but the truth is, I like the 'feel' of a cigarette, and now that Volt is offering the Nano, they're just as convenient as a PV. Been using that combo for awhile now. I'm 57; switched to vaping a couple of years ago w/ a few minor slips.

61 yr old Smoked 49 of it.

Got my volt on May 7,
Been going ok. Still not ready to complete let go of my friend tobacco. But every day gets a little closer.

Last few day 2 or 3 tobaccos.

Love the Volt and getting more used to the 555 juice.
Like a little VG in my juice as it produces more e-smoke and smooths the TH for me.

I can say of the times I have tried to stop smokeing tobacco this is the first time I know it will work.
Im just letting my body make the changes on its own as It is starting to like the Vaping more than the Tobacco

Tx thanks for starting this up. I may be new but I have learned a lot and want to help anyone who is willing to accept it.

Well it was a busy day today. Just had a chance to check my email and had my first ever ECF E-News email. The GRESTEST news is this thread started by our own Txtumbleweed won the most viewed thread on ECF for 2012 - way to go TX.

Bless your heart! I'm 17 & smoked for almost 50 yrs.; math wiz (class 101). I've been vaping for 10 months & just love it! I also like to keep it as simple as possible even tho I'm amazed at what some people have done w/mods & taking things apart. End Quote

Hey moishesmom, Just love the maths. Should try the same formula myself!! LOL Been a smoker, on and off, mainly on, for about 50 yrs, not heavy but boy, did I love my fags. Even a 7 yrs dry spell could not stop me thinking that good old 'a ... would be lovely'. Anyway started vaping about 6/7 mths ago and love it. Do not miss the durries at all. That is a north Queenslandism!! I love not having dirty ashtrays, clothes smelling fresh and clean, no burns, and believe it or not I can vape at the computer!! I was religious as a computer addict - no smoking. I was not going to gum up my CPU's and degrade the performance. So it is all positives apart from the indulgent spending which the forums, much as I love, do tend to encourage - lots of must try!
Cheers to all and Vape On!!

Hey Jude ( that has a nice ring to it, should be a song) sorry, bad humor. I found I like 'my' math more then the 'new' math they're teaching these days. I don't know why they call it math; as far as I can tell, they should call it 'calculator' since that's all I see the younger folks using.

My PC always has a pass-thru attached (love them) but unfortunately there's always crumbs under my 'e' or 'w' - I just belame the pups or cat. Along with my advanced math, I specialize in never taking the fall for anything...

That's really great that you're doing as well as you are....makes all the difference in the world, both health & everything else that you mentioned. All my best to you - keep it up & as they say "VAPE ON"!:toast:.....:vapor:

I like that hey Jude :) I also like the math so that I am legal and can continue to vape - I will go with 18 and smoked for 46 years (but I am 6 years short of what that adds up to - just don't want to be 12) - but I so agree that this has been the best thing - even though I always have eaten, drank and smoked by my computer. in fact I just had to have my keyboard cleaned after a disasterous dump of ejuice a few weeks ago

Hey supershags - this is a great group here - and there is no age limit. I am very new at this - but even though I only tried vaping to see if it would help me quit - I completely surprised myself and actually quit.

However, on a sad note - still no sign of my new purple Twist and purple MT3. I sure hope it gets thru customs and gets here soon. Not that I am suffering from not having it - but I still can wait for it to get here.

So we may be older - we may be wiser - but now we now we are the most viewed ;)

Wow, love to hear all the great stories. I am 49 and smoked a pack a day for over 31 years. Even after 3 heart attacks, 7 stents and open heart surgery I STILL smoked them nasty cigs. Until Feb 4 last year. Since that day, I haven't looked back. I did like most and spent hundreds trying to find something that was easy to use and consistently provided throat hit and vapor. I ended up getting a ego twist VV and discovered the Phoenix bottom coil at gotvapes. They are easy to clean and vape great. Since August I have cleaning and using the same ones, with only about 5 out of 20 that have shorted out or stopped working. I can't rave about them enough. Since I started using them (initial order of 20 510's and 30 808's) I haven't HAD to buy a single cartridge. i bought more because i liked them so much, but the second order is still in the box in my cabinet. Recently I got four mini (400 MaH) ego batteries because they fit much much better in my front pocket at work. One battery will last almost all day an another will last the night. My wife uses the808's with an echo 808 auto battery. Our everyday vape is vanilla gorilla from ecblend. They have awesome juices and even more awesome pricing.

Hello I smoked for 45 years and then was introduced to the KR808-D1 and I quit smoking and began vaping the day that my ecig kit
arrived. I have been vaping for 3 1/2 years now and love it. I have tried the Ego, the 510, the tank type battery among others but came back to the KR808 and prefer it over all the others. I hate messing with Ejuice because I am not the most graceful person on this earth and have a tendency to spill the stuff everywhere. So I am using the prefilled carts which I like just fine. I just found out that the FDA is trying to mess with the ecig and small businesses who sell ecigs so I just finished putting my two cents in on the comment page. I hope everyone does as we are not able to comment after Wed.
I only vape the tobacco flavors being an old timer and just not interested in chocolotte or any other type of flavored juice. I thought I would just tell my little story about how great Ecigs are and the help that they have given to me in order to stop smoking the regular cigs. I am feeling better physically and do not run out of breath when I go upstairs or if I run. Love the Ecigs and appreciate what they do for us old smokers.

Hi Jacki - congrats! 3 1/2 years vapin' ! There's nothing wrong with keeping it simple - whatever works for you - is the best choice. I've been vapin' about 15 month's and i'm mainly a tobacco flavor vapor too. Maybe someday if my taste buds begin working again after 45 years of smoking - the other flavors will entice me.

I am 70-years-old. I started smoking when I was about 14-years-old. Gosh, I tried everything under the sun to stop tobacco and nothing worked for me. I had a heart-attack at age 50 something and developed COPD. I was a coughing machine. I had another scare over 4-years ago. I had purchased the Joy with the 510 cartridges. I was put into the hospital for another possible cardiac angiogram. I about panicked thinking of not having a cigarette....then I remembered the Joy I had purchased. My sweet husband went home and brought it to me in the hospital and I have not had one....Not one analog since. It is the only thing that worked for me.

I am now using the Silver Bullet and the BB. I use the Vivi Nova tank with the replaceable atomizers, so easy to use.I am so glad and happy with my success. My lung function is very good and I am off oxygen. I was surprised at how quickly my lungs responded to the e-cigs.

I do find that when I am out and using the Silver Bullet, people seem to think I am using some sort of "drugs" If I notice that they are whispering etc. I just say' look, I am 70-years-old and if I were using bad drugs, I would be dead by now" I say it in a very friendly vice and am often asked about where they can get these things.....

I wish everyone the best of luck and keep up the fight. Kathleen

Geeze Louise, I was away from here for 24 hours and it looks like we've got a party started with bunches of new people! Woohoo! Fun! It's so nice to hear your stories and what you're using now. Supershags, I just discovered the Rider Robusts and love them too. Plus, they come in very pretty colors. One of the nice things about vaping is that there seems to be something for everybody and that certainly seems to be a very good thing for our health and well being.

It's past my bedtime so welcome all! Catch y'all later.

Hey Moishie, there is a song and it is called 'Hey Jude' ! Not really worried about 'blame' as it is a bit of wasted exercise and Bella, my Golden Retriever is very sensitive, but I will be modest and recognise the dedication in the song!! :) Didn't realise you had so many posts after yours. Anyway enjoy the forums and the exquisit EJuices. As you can probably see spelling was not my strong point - sign of a lateral thinker tho according to De Bono, I think it was. However my maths was not bad and agree with you, maths today aint what it was. Cheers and Vape On!

Welcome jacki and Chap and any others I have missed. I definitely have to give credit to all the great information in this thread. It did take me a while to go thru it all - but in the end it lead me to the eGo Twist. I am currently using the Vivi Nova, Kanger T2 and T3 and occasionally a CE4 Startdust.

I think that is what is so great - not only the number of "older" folks that are now vaping - but that there is something out there for all of us. It really is astounding to see how many folks that have smoked for 30+ years and for some of us - most of our lives. I still cannot believe how easy it was to go from smoking to vaping.

Now we just have to hope and pray "they" don't take it away from us :(
