Wow Char, that's fantastic! Kind of sneaks up on you doesn't it? What a nice surprise.

Kat, I've been switching all day between Pear, Janet's Heaven, and Pomegranate. I'm definitely a fruit person. I'm glad Mike has been vaping fruit for awhile. Some of his tobaccos just don't smell very nice to me. Before I stopped smoking I didn't smell much of anything, but now!! Sometimes it's not a good thing! My smeller seems to have improved more than my taste. When I finally finish up one of these tanks I want to try a cherry vanilla I made. We'll see if it's any good. I went nuts and made a bunch - probably should finish them up before mixing some new ones, but it is fun.

Xcigs, Congratulations!! Amazing how the eCigs just seem to work like magic when other things fail. I think we all agree that we wish they'd come out with these a whole lot sooner. Still it's nice to be a part of the beginning of a new trend. We're all going to look back and say remember when we thought the new and improved whatever came out and we thought it was so great? Wait, haven't we all already done that a number of times already... We sure have seen a lot.

Flower, I've noticed that I can drop my nic and I'm doing pretty good with it. I'm about down to 6 - 10 nic now and I've mixed some 0 Honeysuckle for before bed. That gives me some comfort given the nonsense the FDA is playing around with. Mike has even dropped his level because when he's playing around with new wicks he vapes a lot and ges "niced out" so he actually asked for a lower nic juice and says it helps.

Old C - I was just reading through some ecf threads about storing nic and as long as it's kept out of the light and cool with very minimal oxygen in the bottle it should last for a very long time. Kurt kept his bottles wrapped in socks in a cooler in his cold room - not even in the freezer and it seems to be doing fine. I don't know that warming and cooling over and over is a good idea, but I wouldn't open the bottles until you're ready to use them.

I am here!!. Any instructions on rolling a mesh wick??

Fran, I can't get youtube to play back video's tonight. I wanted to look at these before posting to make sure they're the video's I was thinking of. But here's the 1st one. It's relatively short and show how to roll a wick.

And I'll post another one next. ECF only allows 1 vid per post.

ETA: I don't put any juice on my mesh before I roll it. Personally don't think that's really needed, but may help some folks.

Fran, this one is more on setting up a coil (I think) once the wick is made. It's use the latest popular technique named after an English fellow who came up with it. It's the Petar K method. It's based on very lightly oxidizing the mess winding the coil around a drill bit, then inserting the wick into the coil and oxidizing the mesh by pulsing the PV on/off to light up the coil and oxidize the mesh just under the coil. I had my doubts about this at first - but the last few setups I did, I did like this and it's working out pretty good.

In the old days (like a few months ago) it was typical to roll the wick, heat it 'till it glowed red/orange, dunk it in water. Do this 3 times. Then cover the wick w/ PG or VG light it with a lighter and let it burn out. Repeat this 3 times. Now most folks have stopped using this process to heavily oxidize their wicks. The Petar K method gained popularity and is now widely used.

And - if my Sunday afternoon isn't busy maybe I'll try my 1st video and show off how I roll a wick. Basically

1. cut a piece of mesh 45mm by 60mm
2. the finished wick will be 45mm long, so you roll it from the 'side'
3. fold one side/end of the mesh in about 1/2 inch
4. fold the opposite edge very slightly/minimally about the width of a sewing needle. You're just trying to make a 'V' at that edge big enough to hold the needle
5. lay the needle into the crease from step 4
6. pick it all up between you thumbs and forefinger of both hands
7. push up with your thumbs from the center out, and roll, keeping even pressure
8. move finger back to cent of mesh and roll outward toward ends again
9. when it starts to form a 'roll' take out the pin
10. repeat step 8 until it's all rolled up nice and snug

It really helps if you've had experience rolling your own sometime during you earlier days. And darn it's really hard to explain in words and there are a couple-few tricks that would be easier to do in a video. Like laying the mesh under a small medal ruler to crease it to make the 1/2 fold and the pin size fold on the other edge.

Janet, it indeed is comforting to know that the lower nic levels give you the satisfaction needed!

Received one of my nic orders for 500ml/48mg/100%PG today.

Keeping it refrigerated until I get my order for beakers and large bottles and all the other stuff needed to cut.

Additionally, since I'm new to DIY, I want to make sure I feel confident enough to tackle the large bottle. Already did a one flavor (Peppermint) with my first nic order, so I'm on my way.

One thing I do regret is for the years I've been vaping, I didn't DIY earlier. I have enjoyed the luxury of purchasing pre-made juices and found my favorites and stuck to them, but times are a'changing, and rather quickly, so I'd better put my thinking cap on and get down to business.

Will admit, I'm still feeling a bit overwhelmed, but taking one cautious step at a time.

Gloria have you ever tried to DIY Churro. I had gotten the altcig Churro once quite a long time ago and liked it. I'd really like to be able to DIY that one.

What a variety of flavors just in the few answers so far. I've enjoyed so much hearing what everyone is vaping. Mike I was so surprised yours wasn't some type of tobacco flavor :) , and not for several days. As much as I love my peppermint, I don't have any days with no tobacco flavors...I just enjoy them sooooo much.

Yep Kat, I have played around with DIY churro. Have gotten close, but not quite there. Here's the last recipe I tried.
--- Capella Cinnamon Danish Swirl 10%, Flavor West Cinnamon Churro 8%

I agree...it's fun to hear what flavors everybody is vaping. :)

Janet your cherry vanilla sounds like it would be good. Sounds like something that might mix well with the "right" tobacco flavor :D

When Mike smoked a pipe he had a cherry tobacco that I thought smelled wonderful. Maybe that's what I need to add to his tobacco flavors to help - if the cherry flavor is detecable in the vapor. It's funny, but I really don't like what his vaping smells like most of the time. You'd think after smoking for so many years that it wouldn't bother me. The tobacco vaper does not smell like cigarettes, and it's very different than how it tastes. I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke except that first puff, when the cigarette is first lit. That still smells wonderful to me. Seems strange. Other flavors of vaping smell wonderful and even other people seem to like some of the flavors.

Janet, my hubby smoked a cherry tobacco in his pipe back in the 70s that smelled SO good too. I think I even tried a puff or two...but it didn't taste like it smelled.

I know what you're saying about the less than pleasant odor of the tobacco vapes though. I think some of my coffee vapes leave the room smelling somewhat pungent (not in a good way) too. :)

If you lean towards more exotic tobacco flavors it fits the bill.

One thing I should point out, I vape at a high enough nic level to drop a wild boar, so if you're vaping at a less poisonous level than I, maybe the flavor will come out on top and be smoother. Also it REALLY comes out with a glass of Maker's Mark Bourbon.:D

I'm almost three weeks in without an analog. Last night while I went out with some friends. The bar we were in was very smoky and all of my friends smoke. I bummed an analog from a friend and shared it with another. I found it to be disgusting, very heavy and bad tasting. The taste stayed in my mouth forever. Just wondering if any former smoker ever slips up and has an analog?

I would feel bad about it but I wanted to just try one and see. I'm content with vaping and don't want to switch back, and trying the analog completely reaffirmed that.

Waves at everyone..bit sidetracked since it's tax time in the USA and even though I no longer do tons of taxes I have three neighbors that still want me to review what they have done before they send them off. Cuts into my fun time LOL

Congrats to y'all that have laid down the "Cigarettes" :) (Charliegirl and Unc1987)

What am I vaping..uh...butterscotch and Hazelnut coffee(MTBV)..at the moment. :) Also some Dublin Down from Altcig. About to finish that bottle. Then probably the Butter Mint Gloria sent me...will mix something later this month. Still have a few odds and ends to pickup. Then I'll be good to go :) Loaded a cart with Kona Latte from sweet-vapes and the cart isn't absorbing the juice right :( So that gives a nice burning taste..ick...run into one of those every once in awhile, sure don't enjoy them :/

As long as you brought this ugly topic up.:) Is there any place to get actual harcopy prints of the 1040 instruction booklet? I know the Post Office used to years ago. A pdf for taxes doesn't quite cut it for me. I really don't want to print 100 plus pages on my printer. At least not for this.

Sweeeeet!!!! I got a metal tube for my vivi nova because a couple of my plastic ones started getting hairline cracks and I put some shipping tape on em.

I haven't cared a whole lot about the looks for my vaping goodies, but I really really like this...yippee skippee. I'm loving my short tube also - now my PV rides perfectly in my jammie pocket :D
