Welcome dberkham and tj99959 (I think? I have the worst memory!) db - I quit 2/5 this year, I'd made a promise to myself to be off analogs by my 40th birthday (yes, I'm the baby here) on Oct. 1st and beat my deadline by almost 8 months!
The biggest and best thing I've noticed in the last couple of days as we've been picking out songs for our wedding (whenever we get around to it), is that my singing voice is getting higher and clearer and my lung capacity is much greater (I'll thank swimming for that along with the quitting). I'm classified as a Contralto/Mezzo Soprano with a 4 octave range and it was killing me that I couldn't hit the high mezzo note (A5) anymore (which is the 2nd A past middle C for all you non-vocal range folk!). My range is currently, E2 (2 E's below Middle C) to currently E5 (2 E's above middle C). I used to be a full soprano (hitting the super high C) that makes me Bass to Contralto, but I'm determined to get at least back up to F5 (just 2 more notes cause the black keys count, lol!) and actually regain my MS status.
I hadn't been able to sing above A4 (the first A past middle C) for over 10 years now. I've gained back 7 notes in 3 months. I don't expect that I'll ever get back to full Soprano *ever* without attracting every stray male cat in the neighborhood, lol!
Doing laps does SO much to help your body in ways you never realize - like helping you hold notes longer and clearer! Thank you indoor swimming pool at mom & dad's retirement community!
You'll find this a very welcoming group of folks here so kick back and have some fun! If you're really brave, attempt to read at least the last 50 or so pages - we go through 2-10 pages a day here so 50 pages is probably about 2 weeks back - the thread only started mid Feb!
tj - again, welcome in case you are new to the thread and a big hi
if you aren't. I really do have the worst memory on earth, massive amounts of CRS, lol - must be part of why I get to be here
BLUESMAN COME BACK - WE NEED YOU
