BOG OAK REPORT:

(couple folks have expressed interest in this material, so I'll make the observations public)

It's (not surprisingly) not the best for tapping out for machine screws. The clearly defined longitudinal fibers (and subsequent weakness between them) are prone to breaking when asked to play the role of threads. It's working good enough. I'm comfortable proceeding with the Monkey's caps. I guess what I want to say is that I'm good with doing it once, and I know (pretty much) how I'll fix it if it doesn't hold up over the years; but I would not choose this material for caps in larger quantities. If Xobe is mildly cautious, he should be good to go. However, if I make 20 mods like this, I'm sure to see 5 of them stripped out. . . . . . . . . . .. does that make sense? So, if others want Custom Matching from this material, they should consider it their own risk, in that the mod may need surgery in the future and I may need my surgeon's fee. :)

sorry. not getting the question.

How's the v-drop, kick, punch with the BeCu? So far, folks are reporting good stuff on the thread here. I've only had mine in for a few days., so I can't speak to longevity.

Day 4 so far for me with the Ag/BeCu (Silver Coated Beryllium) experimental spring. (Thank you pdib)

My 007 is now consistently hitting hard all day and I’m now running my batteries down to 3.6V. No special button press, Noalox need not apply. For me this is a significant improvement. Much more efficient.

As previously mentioned, the thicker spring has a noticeably stiffer button throw. Taking a pointer from Turbo, I shortened up the button throw by putting an additional spacer under the battery in the bottom cap which compensates for the stiffer throw quite nicely. (Thanks Turbo)

Also, since I’m no stranger to riding bareback with hardcore mechanicals that have no fuse protection, I bypassed the fuse protection with a BeCu coper strip. (Thank you pdib) Obviously this modification is highly discouraged and reserved for dibber-dabbler-"NUTS" but here’s what it looks like.

Here's the difference in spring size. Stock spring on the left:

Totally solid performance battery after battery. Now eating "Low" subΩ coils for breakfast, lunch and dinner without a hitch. No Noalox, no special button presses and so far less maintenance. Still using the stock aluminum button screw under the fire button.

diggin the whole dark/black look and I think I'd prefer richlite on top/bottom for my #2. curious how that little lip thing at the base of the squonk hole holds up. is there any flexibility there pdib for making thicker? taller?

Hey! we're not talking about "vaping gently" here. We're just talking about, once or twice a year . . . . . . . . . screwing gently.

He's a married man now and shortly after his honeymoon had to go to Afghanistan.
My advice, don't give him his mod till about a month after he is back.
