why did I think you already had a REO?

(cause I'm wrong, apparently)
That's because I did but during that time I was trying to gain a little cash flow and what I had in the classifieds wasn't moving so I reluctantly sold my Grand thinking to replace it when the low voltage drop kits appear. That time is near I believe.

I am the "other person" Peter referred to. In my case, one of my cats knocked it off the end table and onto a carpeted floor.

I tried the standard professional CA, but found it too liquid and runny to work. I went to Lowe's and got the gel type. That worked. I applied a very thin coating of it and pressed the parts back together. Then, I placed the Dibi in a clamp and lightly clamped it together. I left it in the clamp for a couple hours. The bonding of the two pieces is very good now, yet I am concerned about it falling again. I still have not used the screw, still relying on the magnets to hold the mod together. Note that at no time (either while it was broken or after repair) was the mechanical function affected. I did notice that the piece that broke off did shrink while it was not attached to the rest of the mod. There is a slight gap on both sides where it mates to the mod. However, if you are not aware of this, it would not be noticed.

SPRING? . . . . .. what spring? :pervy:

Got the little ring magnets today. They fit perfect in the button after I scraped the recessed part clean of CA and just a very small about of material. I should have got some larger OD ones for the button well, but popped an o-ring around 2 of them in the well so they would center (2 so the o-ring wont float up). No need to attach them as the opposing action will keep them in place. BTW, it is very helpful to put a little black marker on the ring magnets on the sides that oppose each other, and these little things will jump a good 3 to 4 inches to mate if you get them too close to each other. Note that replacing the spring with magnets will not work right without the bypass strip I built between the 510 connector and contact.

Couldn't resist opening 2 more silver contacts to replace the battery positive screw and the screw in the base that connects the center pin even though everything was still working fine. Threaded the stems 6-32 and this time threaded them into a coupling nut and used a cut off wheel to grind down a little of the short section at the base of the contact that I couldn't thread last time and turned the die around backwards and finished the threads so they would go flush. The 6-23 threads in the base for the small brass screw were loose compared to the contact so I made another homemade helicoil, this time out of 27G R41 since that seemed to work best after trying numerous sizes of wire. Cut about 100 degrees out of a washer a hair thinner than the fuse arm to take up the empty space under the contact so it would be level. Now what to do with the 10-32 battery contact threads? Contemplated cutting the bottom a little larger and using a blind nut in the hole, but it came to me to just drill the existing brass screw, tap that hole 6-32, grind the head down due to the height of the silver contact. Had to remove the brass washer after I took this picture to further reduce the height. No Noalox applied anywhere now and we will see how it goes. I still might make a rod with the end threaded to take place of the center rod and eliminate the contact point at the bottom if needed.

Got to get to bed now and get up in 4 hours to get back to the grindstone.

I'm thinking it is easier if Mundy buys my dibi from pdib first then sell it to me for a profit? Huh? :D

Perhaps but don't the Brits say... Al-U-MIN-E-UM? Listen to igetca69 (Scott Bonner) or the dude Todd (Todd's Reviews) It's a British Isles thing I think? LOL T?

As a Brit my self, we do say it that way. The Alunnymoon I referenced was from a British TV show or something. It has always stuck on my head, so I frequently say it that way as a funny.

I love the cool stuff Mundy is doing! However, aalwani, if you want the same performance, I can provide it. Ag/BeCu spring, sterling silver contact, . . . . . .

and I'll sit on it for an extra 6 months after it's made . . . . . :p

The little bit of voltage I drop saved with the strap / silver contacts doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the real world. The Ag/BeCu spring will do just fine. I just can't help myself.
