Mark what was your concern with the Dibi and the Origen initially? Was it strictly dimensions or something else?
I still didn't get the daughter paper story. was Oliver written on the paper or something else and his daughter read it wrong? As far as i am concerned the mod is a Dibi and the maker is Dibby. Dibi is in deference to Pdib's liking for something with a Hungarian kind of name...so ok.
Oliver was a name his daughter came up with and i cannot bring myself to call it that since a friend of mine calls his *cough* Oliver, as in 'please sir can i have some more'.
Which gives you loads of punning opportunities and opens the door to lewd comments

That is what I thought as well.I'm pretty sure it's some variety of Lacewood.
yeah it helps a lot! I remember reading this (god it seems ages back by the volume of this thread) and ignored all the Oliver talk and kept on calling it "dibi dib dib" for some reason. I think I'm looking at 1 month to run 7 woohoo.I think he wrote Olive R on a piece of paper (olive wood regular maybe?), and his daughter asked him what an Oliver was and he thought it was cute, and thought it would be a good name. Many of us didn't like it as much as 'dibby', so he said we could call it a 'dibi' (for his Hungarian roots). So since he doesn't clarify, we mostly call it the 'dibi', some call it the 'dibi OliveR', and no one calls it the 'Oliver'.
Hope that helps.
and no one calls it the 'Oliver'.

That's because despite our love for all things pdib, the name 'Oliver' is just terrible for many punny reasons as SuperTrunker already pointed out. Besides, only 1 person got an Olivewood dibi, making the rest of us jealous and therefore resistant to paying homage to that guy's dibi, even tho we like him fine.
So only a handful of people pay attention to the 'OliveR' part, and until pdib clarifies, everyone calls it a dibi (since he did clarify that spelling for us). Besides, since maple is the best wood to use, I think it should be called 'mapleR'. Whatcha think?
Funny... after I was corrected on Pdib himself calling it a Dibi... I henceforth called it the OliveR (as I was told that was it's proper name). Think SXD also refers to it in writing and on his YT vids as the OliveR.
i have the winner and since i used to be poor, i could only afford these at Xmas, when they'd be delivered to my pothole in the road.

I didn't see that, maybe we should just give up and call it the Peter Dibi... (since pdib seems to be trying to confuse you here).![]()
Think there is a rule on ECF regarding him using his own name (or even a part of it)... at least that is part of what I remember in the explanation regarding naming the device.
I look at it this way:
However, I suspect that this picture, which is embedded on the first page of the thread, may be the source of many people's confusion and makes it entirely understandable why some people would refer to the mod itself as a 'pdib'.
- pdib is the man, the myth, the legend, the maker of our mods. If you know his real name, it's obvious where this moniker comes from.
- a dibi is any mod made by pdib. Analogy: What kind of car do do you drive? A VeeDub. OK, that narrows it down to the brand, but not the specific model.
- an OliveR is the particular model of mod he's currently making, that some of us are now lucky enough to possess. To take the above analogy further, I drive a Passat.
