Oooh. Is THAT what you got? That's gorgeous:)! I have all new appreciation for wood mods now:).... but... the Dibi are the nicest looking:p

Yes, those two are mine. I really liked the Monkey Boxx, but the don't make them anymore. I also like the Lukkos Puzzle box, but the ones currently for sale don't do anything for me. I keep watching to see if they come out with more that have contrasting wood inlays like the earlier ones.

I think you mean that the current config is good for its purpose. It cheaper, readily available, requires no soldering and works. Better option...not so sure.

The parallel PTC fuse setup I used has a overall resistance of .02ohms. The trip rating at 8 amps is .5 seconds. Hire amps trip it faster. These are slightly slower than the Busman 10 amps, but if you get a hard short and put the battery max through your system, I am not sure if the 1/100 of a second is gonna make that much of a difference. The point of the fuse is to trip so if you do get an uncontrollable hard short, your battery doesnt go full discharge for a extended period of time.

But I am not the expert. Its a workable solution and it working great. Next best alternative for me at this hour was to go bare back with the berylium copper strip......

So to fuse or not to fuse, that was the question.

That's not as bad as I thought, when I looked at the specs for low resistance ones on the site they had a max trip time of 5 seconds.

I want you guys to know that I have been reading all this with great interest. I assume that by osmosis, I'm going to one day wake up and say... "EUREKA! I know what they're talking about!". I just don't know when that will be...

Meanwhile, I'll look at the pretty pictures:drool:

Same here GG!

Me three! I don't know much about the science of electricity. But I think of these here internet places like little interstellar nurseries where stars/ideas are born. There's probably a dozen or so fellows here (and in my other favorite ECF place) that I hang on their every word. It's kinda fun watching these things unfold. Since I don't know much about the science of how to make a high performance mod, I rely on these fellows to do my thinking for me.

I should say though that I've learned a lot by osmosis and I do take notes.:)

I think its a square? Do I win?

yours also looks like a ruler. I just bought a new ruler for this batch. (pssssst . .. . in the industry.. . . of industriusness . .. .it's called a framing square;)) Sometimes they happen to say something cute.

Goody goodie, it is a square! What do I win? :D

BTW. on the Noalox thing I just checked and have lost .08V since 5 days ago with no maintinance (no adding Noalox or anything but filling) with the original aluminum screw. I gave it 3 quick light swipes with a little bitty flat file and gained back .02V. Gave the center pin 1/2 gnats whisker turn (I am using the bottom holding screw) and gained and additional .01V. Have a feeling that other .05V is in the button spring contact area but have to get to work on prints now. When I get the silver contacts I am going to revisit the bypass strip I did before in a little better configuration and see if I cant use a silver contact in place of the aluminum and maybe the other battery connection.:p

Calling Milkman

We never got your issue resolved since you had to go to work or bed one (I don't remember which)
Did notice that you need to change the batteries in your meter, but I don't think that had anything to do with it.
Lets come back here since pdib didn't mind and several heads are better than one.

(maybe we need some fleas)
Random scientific fact:

The male flea has two penises

Jury riggin' Friday.... teeeheeee

since my wood mod is in parallel, I used it as a battery holder. Used the Li-ion option on my RC multi chemistry charger

Batts total 4000 mah so I put in 4 amps to charge at 1C. Charging amps go down as batts reaches full capacity. As I type this, the charger has put in 1643 mah total. The batts are at 4.09V ( I'll have to check them individually later due to lack of balancer). Charging amps are down to 1.26A, 82% completion.

fire extinguisher standing by::evil::evil::evil: not really. Batts are staying cool at room temp.

Effectively cut down my charge time from 4 hours with trustfire, down to 1 hour. Up next, slowly increase charge amps to 2C

No idea what you're talking about. What I want to know is... why does the bottom of your dibi look like a ruler:)? Can mine look like a ruler too:)?

Kind of hard to tell, but I think the "ruler" on my Dibi wood shows 6½ inches. Average?

Well, I too couldn't wait and will probably have a bottom feeder sooner rather than later. So I ordered up a Cyclone to go with it. No AFC cap 'cause I can't find one in stock in the US. Question is, should I also get an RM2?

Wait, nevermind, it's a moot point; there are no RM2s in stock.

What is it with this industry? I own a Russian 91% because I couldn't find a KFL+ when I wanted one. (Yeah, I ended up getting a KFL+ later when Vaperev had 'em in stock for a short while, but if I wanted a second one now, guess what? No can do! I understand having to wait for a custom-made, hand crafted item like an OliveR, but atomizers? Come on, they're made on CNC machines. Can somebody please whack the purveyors of decent gear upside the head and tell 'em, "You can't sell bread from an empty truck!"

Damn you, I never really wanted a 3D printer before you said that....

I got my KFL+ here in like 3-4 days if you really want another... Kayfun Lite plus - InTaste

For more giggles I just found and ordered some N50 ring magnets 0.37" (9.5mm) OD x 0.25" (6.35mm) ID x 0.039” (1mm) thick, magnetized through the thickness.

Before you ask pdib, I got a couple for you. :p

I have exactly those same magnets in my toolbox. I'd love to see what you will do with those. :)

Yeah, I was poking around there yesterday it was tempting to order another one along with some more Cyclone stuff too; they have a cyclone with AFC, but it's not a BF, and they don't have the AFC kit separately. :-(

Part of the reason I didn't go too far with the magnets is because they don't conduct all that great (on paper). I didn't really see how there was room for magnets and another conductor as well. I had, at one point, also considered making the centerpost a long magnet; but abandoned that route for the same reason. On the button, I wanted to leave room for a very good conductor to be the default path for the current. (None of this involved research grants and years of thorough experiment . . .. . I made my best call.) The "standard" springs were a compromise of decent conductivity (not the best), ease of use (accommodating a variety of battery lengths and button throw preferences) and were my choice because I could stock them reliably. Also, I knew it would be an easy swap if and when I/we found something better. I think now, with a choice of springs we're in a really good place. I've had some folks request the "standard" spring; as they're never going below 1Ω, and appreciate the convenience and no need to fiddle. For those of us who enjoy some adjusting and tweaking, and want to subΩ, there's the Ag/BeCu fatty. I imagine most folks will want both in the shipment.

All that said, I'm eager to try anything reasonable and make improvements when they present themselves. (and magnets are FUN!)
