This would've been nice if it weren't for the (real) dark area. I imagine one side of the mod would look dirty.
Wow... that's a tough one... it might turn out looking like a supernova... that 'burst' is stunning looking as it is... but really hard to guess how it would take dye if you chose to dye it...
If it helps, my 'darker' areas on the ends of my blue one look like this:

The violet one has a weak spot on the side (very thin):
and the unpolished back, so you can see how the dye can be uneven depending on wood density:
Well... you can tell by the face too... this seems to be violet and green?
Both blocks are loaded with teeny 'seeds', but they are different seeds, because they are completely different wood (big leaf maple vs box elder burl)
