Center pin pressed out, well ghetto pressed out (hammer, wood block with hole in it, old drill bit for punch)
Cut channels in pin. Don't like the idea of cutting the insulator, I like my pin in tight so it doesn't turn.
Used dremel with cutoff wheel. Freehand so not exactly perfect, totally 100% functional. :D

Pic of the 510 side, goal was to leave as much of the center pin for contact.

I'll be doing a couple more in the near future, I'll take better pics then.

Thanks for the details. Is the chamber space more than a regular cyclone?

Just how hard was it pressed in? Is the pin something that can be knocked out of the body of the atty in a minute or two, or do you have to pound away at the pin gently for 10+ minutes?

Nothing quantitative, but I think its much less chamber space on the reactor. Those neg posts take up a lot of space, the cap is not tall inside. Top of that center screw (those are SS screws I bought, not stock) is right at the drip tip hole. I can measure when I get home tonight if you want.

3-4 solid blows with the hammer and it was out. It's in there good, but not as bad as the Hornet. :-x

That's me. :)
If you don't mind me asking, what VG/PG ratio do you use? The other day, I primed new wicks in a new Helios with some unflavored 65% VG and was surprised how pleasant it was -- much sweeter than I was expecting. I'm kinda thinking about putting a device dedicated to unflavored in my rotation.

Which segues into another topic: Has anyone ever modded a Helios for bottom feeding? I think I need a drill press. :D

you know what I used to do for a while was run unflavored in my juice bottle and drip various flavors into the atty, and then vape back to unflavored. (that was when I had time to play . . . . . or ummmm. . . . . . wasn't playing all the time)

So last week our esteemed host PM'd me and asked whether I'd like the silver contact upgrade for my #0002, which I had more-or-less declined when I got her. At that point, I wasn't sure whether I'd actually use her or whether I'd treat her as a museum piece, so I wanted to keep her historically accurate. Well, as y'all know, I've been using her. Every day. All the time. She gets the place of honor in my shirt pocket when I'm out and about, and she sleeps on my night stand. Anyway, I told Peter: "Sure, but send it to me down in FL where I'll be next week."

Well, last night I arrived in FL where the silver stud (and brass nut) were already waiting for me, but after driving 600 miles, I was too tired to install 'em. I went to bed last night with #0002 on my night stand as usual. When I woke up this morning, I picked her up to grab a hit or three. Nada. For the first time ever, she refused to fire. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot...? OK, there's a reason I keep TWO mods on my night stand so I unplugged the Protovapor with a KFL+ on it from the USB charger and vaped that for a bit. A while later, I picked up #0002 again (I think I need to name her) and tried again. This time she did fire, but she seemed a bit reluctant. I know it's irrational to think that inanimate objects have feelings, but it sure seemed she was ...... that I hadn't given her the "jewelry" I had gotten her.

So later this morning (after appropriate amounts of caffeine and nicotine) I set about installing the new bits. I'd never taken the firing mechanism apart before (never felt the need). Taking it apart was no problem. Peter, I hereby confirm that the spring appears to be silver plated. Installing the silver stud and brass nut was also straightforward enough, although it took a couple of tries to get it looking just right -- i.e. having the stud just barely protruding from the nut with everything snugged down. Of course, I didn't bother going back and finding whatever old posts exist with tips -- I have to do everything the hard way. In other words I left both of the plastic washers from the original assembly in place and found... It didn't fit. OK, take it apart, remove one of the washers, fiddle with it a bit more to get it looking just right, re-assemble. Then it fit together but fired all the time. OK, take it apart, remove the second washer, fiddle with it a bit more to get it looking just right, re-assemble. And..

PERFECTION. I now have a lighter, shorter throw on the button, and I have to apply much less pressure to keep it firing. This is an excellent upgrade compared to the original (aluminum?) screw!

Thank you Peter!

It's 15.75mm in diamter btw. The top cap is very thick so it does heat up and stay hot if you chain vape. It wouldn't take much to machine the bottom section down flush and slip a ring on it for AFC. Been thinkin about it. Mountain Oak Vapors has a few in stock still. Don't buy all though LOL I need at least one more :)

Better hurry if you haven't already ordered your 2nd and/or 3rd Reactor, there were 11 when I checked earlier and now there are only 3 left after placing my order for 1. There must be just a few folks reading this thread. :D

2 of those were me :D shooting myself in da foot talking em up so much... So yeah these reactor RBA's are garbage, no good at all. Trash I say!!!

On a serious note, those top caps are beast! Drilling out to 1/16 was a challenge. Also just want to say I'm no RBA expert so take my opinions for what they are worth. Oh and they suck!

just a quick FYI, I'm running low on the Walnut. I'll get some more if I see some I like; however, if anybody has been thinking specifically of getting a Walnut mod, do let me know. Also, too, tho, Mark's got some sweet stabilized Walnut in the gallery.
