There is room to snip the tube and move the bottle up a bit if you are using the snap-on cap. Probably not with the screw-on.

Dark in the barracks right now, but this is the extra play I have to work with:

yvyzaty7.jpg

Over 1/4" of spare tubing all willy-nilly begging me to add a couple pennies to reinforce against any future "oops" moments.

My wife yelled at me by the way. Said I have to package up the simian and not use it til I get home. I can not go that long without it!

Add: the main drawback i could see in raising the bottle is that the press would not be as effective as i'd be pressing lower on the bottle where it is more rigid due to the bottom. Likely not an issue with thinner juice, but those who use the thick sauce may need one of those guitar finger strengthener thingamawhoozits just to have the strength to squonk..... If the bottle were raised.

damn guys, sorry to see your broken dibi's, at least now I don't feel like the only dibi murderer though :p

I think the penny has helped, haven't seen any spontaneous cracking from expansion and contraction either but then again my wood is stabilized, not sure how much of a factor that may be...

You set the bar brother! Was just a matter of time... I have to admit, it was the first time I came even remotely close to shedding a tear in a long time! Luckily for me, blind rage set in before I made myself look like a Sally.

Im going to bed now!

Goodnight world!

Just back from a week of being unplugged in the OBX, NC... So far... we have had Ivory lists, atty lists and lists for the sake of lists... not to mention a discussion of the merits of Damascus steel vs. something I can't pronounce... a dibi redesign (or 2) Mundy on the mend (yea!) BTW I haven't watched it yet but RT did the MM. and finally...

Waitin for my dibi, the blue box elder burl. not quite as nice as SFM's but happy nevertheless and now! the waiting really begins. When it goes from pipe dream to dream pipe (sort of)... lol. But can't wait to get it in my hands :p

Did I miss anything? lol... I'm certain there's sumpin. Oh yeah, a couple of dropped "Oliver's" perhaps the next mod to the modder's mod should be a lanyard? Whadda ya think? jk, but just a thought... Perhaps a well in the side with a piece of steel wire for the lanyard clip?

EDIT: I guess the lanyard would have to say "HD" or "Bite me" to make it a bit more manly (for men)... or butterflies or Unicorns for the ladies... at least no breakage. Too fun...

Maybe add a skull bead to the lanyard.

I assumed you'd buy the mod because it's bottom fed and looked amazing. keeping it mechanical relies on you building your coil to attain the wattage you desire. a regulated chip takes that part out of the equation entirely

Hey. So, yeah, VW or VV certainly has it's advantages. As it is, tho, one of my main aims in this mod was to keep it as compact as I could. There's just no room in it as it is. Couple of my friends have been working on chippy versions, and they're both aiming for things that could stand independently or be worked into some body work on my part. Nothin' solid, just a little quiet playtime for now.

The short version: In my opinion coil building is still a very important part of the equation.

The longer version: Regulated does not insure a great vape. I do agree that VV/VW will allow you to find the sweet spot for a particular coil. I have several VV & VW homemade mods one of which will go to 20A. I have built at least a thousand if not thousands (at one point I was up to 30 or so unique coils a day) of coils of varying style, type, out of many many sizes, shapes, and types of wire. What I have found is that each coil does have a sweet spot power wise, but they all vary from a small degree to a large degree in what they are capable of in that sweet spot.

;) It's that darn ergonomics thing. If I had never had my OliveR I would be happy as a lark with slightly larger regulated, and I am darn sure not giving up my bottom feed. I am visiting the playroom though, trying to decide if the patterns I carved out of a hunk of balsa will be a close enough second. My dibi just feels better in my hand though. <= Did I really just say that? I am trying not to copy my good friend Peter so wood is just a pattern not the material I would choose. Besides, I could never achieve the craftsmanship he has with wood.

I am glad you posted that picture. I was beginning to think "What the heck, there is plenty of room". Looking at that picture reminded me that I had modified mine highly and I have room even with the regular cap.

There is an old saying about "assume". Yes, I'm personally buying this mod, because it's a BF and it looks amazing. Also, because it's handcrafted by an artist, no two will ever be alike... and I wanted a special treat for myself for having stayed off analogs for awhile now.

Having said that (and as surprising as it might sound to some), I personally no longer require a regulated chip to babysit me (using only REO's atm). I can build my coils pretty quickly and get them where I want my wattage to be at, and that's even if I think I need to change them... which I don't LOL.

To quote Mr. Mundy:

The short version: In my opinion coil building is still a very important part of the equation.

Would I turn my nose up to a regulated version of this mod in the future? Heck no! I'd welcome it.
Am I worried about having VV and/or VW on the OliveR now like I was when I first jumped on this? Nope.

They are priceless works of art. You don't ask what they cost.

Lol. I guess I got the custom PIA version!

Yowsers! Two broken within a couple of days of each other.

OliveR #26 repairs are well under way. Magnets back in and wood glued back together perfectly. I just need to polish off some glue that I let get out of place. I ALWAYS get super glue out of place.

Bottom screw is also in place and WILL be used. Thinking about the penny, too.

DIBI_repaired.jpg

Are they numbered somewhere?

Drum rolls please!

image.jpg. image.jpg

Seeing this in person, I say they are true works of art. just beautiful. And so smooth! P, I'm really glad you talked me into the finish. It's not red at all and retained it's pink color nicely.

I think the one on the right is my favorite side.

I won't be setting it up till the weekend when I can take some time with it. For now, I just keep looking at it, marveling.
