Do you get emails from CASAA? I'm not sure what happened, but I haven't' heard from them in ages. I even complained about it elsewhere on the forum...
Maybe I got the email because of this: Co-sponsors for HR 1136 are starting to line up and your representative is one of the early supporters!
I received one 3/15 and another one this morning.

Perhaps, but there was also a general CTA, which was not emailed to all members. I was made aware of it thanks to WorksForMe--and signed promptly.

I'm not sure why I haven't seen this announced here, but CASSA is asking everyone to email their Representatives about HR 1136. Please go to http://august8th.org .

Posted too fast, trying to fix it...

Excellent :) things are starting to look like they might begin to look up, I know, I sound so hopeful right? However, I still urge people to get at least one bullet proof setup. We will always be able to buy batteries, o-rings, wire, cotton.

It's been just over three years for me and, honestly, I feel like I could put down the vape if I really wanted to, maybe just pick it up for long car rides or things like that, but I don't want or feel the need to do that.

Four years is awesome, you've got this! Even in a worst case scenario, you've got this place, and friends here.

I'm thinking I should probably stock up a bit on cigs for my wife before April, another $2 per pack is a lot. She's been vaping more, but it's at about 10% vaping 90% smoking, better than nothing though.

Thank you for the congrats, it was a really hard fought battle in the beginning. And yeah, the people and friends on ECF are invaluable. Took me a while to find you all on this forum and learn how to use it but I'm not completely sure I'd be where I am today without your support and wisdom.

I'm so happy to hear your wife is vaping. :thumb: Do tell her we're all rooting for her. Seriously, we are. For some of us it's a huge battle, well, er, a full-on nuclear war no matter how much we want to quit. My impression is she is ambivalent at this point but the seed has been planted in the back of her brain. I truly wish her all the luck in the world in eventually quitting.

I agree that he does seem to be on our mission and I applaud both him and Sen. Johnson for what they are trying to do for all of us. I was just confused by a reply to my previous post. I certainly wasn't saying that something was wrong with him.

 Twas me that screwed Mattiem up. I was severely POed about something else and didn't fully read her post. Vaping in congress rocks and takes a lot of brass!

Hi Back! ;)

Welcome back! :D

Our last dog was named Sierra, and she came when called by that name.
We usually used it in formal situations.

But her real name evolved into Tummers.
Because of her propensity to beg for tummy rubs.
:)

She also answered to Stupidhead.

I refer to our dog here as El Whacko. His (its) name is Oscar, he also responds to Princess, no kidding, and for good reason. He also loves the smell of vape which I try to blow away from him.

I just checked, the last email I received from CASAA was in January. I'll try to remember to send out the CTA in an update tomorrow.

Made me look. :)

My last communication from CASAA was a request to take a survey on Jan 4. I received a couple of general newsletters last fall and summer, another survey, a request to sign a thank you letter to Sen. Johnson and another to call Gov. Brown; the last true CTA was on April 22, 2016.

Do I really need to join FB to stay in the loop?

Why is CASAA forum dead? What happened to all those global threads that @sonicdsl used to create to encourage people to sign stuff? They were so useful.

Do I sound grumpy?

Oh please, sound grumpy because I am too. I stumped hard for CASAA here and then they just abandoned this place. They got their start here and then defected to FB?

I have told the story here before about seeing a man crawling on the ground in Portland, Oregon picking up flattened cigarette butts and trying to light them to get a puff or two. Any of you remember stepping on a .... because I do? He was obviously mentally ill and no one cared. I desperately wanted to run down and buy him a pack of cigs but there was no time to do it without missing our flight. (Missing our flight had much bigger ramifications than needs to be explained here).

I still feel feel guilty, grieve, for not being able to help him. I should have. We leave early now hoping to find him but we never have.

What kind of world have we come to where the mentally ill and damaged have to rely on BT to keep their demons at bay?

We all somehow mange to vape even if it puts under, what about those that can't afford to? Do they matter less?

Yes I got into a few heated debates on FB when CASAA people decided to knock the petition and I had to remind them that any advocacy is good advocacy and them saying the petition was useless was not the right thing to be doing. Felt good when people said they signed right in the post.

If FB ends up being necessary to stay in the loop then count me out. I have an account there but honestly most of the time I just forget it's there. I don't gossip in real life so I certainly can't see myself gossiping there and it seems to me like that is what it mostly is.
Sometimes grumpy is good :D

It's been rough, things were looking up, hoping tonight they still are. I think I'm back for at least a week if not permanently. I've looked in and am grateful to see things carrying on.

I apologize in advance for a lengthy post.

Those photos were flat out cool. Thank you. :thumb:

I've seen a fair share of those old posts and am in awe of those guys. They made what vaping is today. We are all deeply indebted to them.

Oooooooooooo, been there done that with multiple animals, don't want to do it again. But hey, very fond memories. [emoji38]

Ruben, thank you, thank you, thank you! :D

I, well, this is awkward. :( Let me put it this way: I don't think he gives a rat's .... about vapers but may do it as a matter of "principal," but I'd rather pay the predicted CA tax than see Meals on Wheels go under, not to mention other programs.

Even before this administration we've been on a wild ride in which there is no pull-cord to get off. All I did was finally quit smoking and then everything went to hell. I feel a zillion times better but my "smoke" no longer keeps the blood-sucking mosquitoes away. Literally.

Woohoo!, you're posting here again! Hope you are staying clear of the blizzards, been thinking of you. Please stay safe.

Les, I looked at the CA tax thread and it's all a best guess scenario. If there is something I ought to know would you please PM me? If the thread stands as is, you can just say "yep" here. What a ridiculous situation.

David, I'll try to get the photo to you tomorrow or the next day. If I don't, hound me. Please PM me your email address, I don't know any other way to get it to you. After all the other photos here It looks like everybody will be greatly disappointed. :(

BTW, my fourth vaperversary was on the 14th. First time I've missed it. :grr: My goal, being excited wise is five years. This is the first time I haven't bought something shiny. Tonight I spent a little money we don't have at all to get some of the basics I still need for the long term. The FDA and CA royally suck. When will people get a clue?
FLAMINGOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed you too, sweety.

To be honest, I was looking for this when I posted...

That's my Katy Kat and my Poe Kitty to a tee.

R.I.P. Poe...

I've had my share and some of cats growing up.

But from here on out, I think I'll only have American short hairs.

They're so soft and affectionate it's almost sickening.

The perfect lap dogs.

Bonus points - no yapping.

IIRC, so did Les and a few others of us here...

The point being, of course, that while a petition may not directly achieve the desired result, it can increase awareness. Doing nothing won't even do that! :grr:

Yes when I pointed that out to the person from CASAA they had no response and when I got really annoyed I asked them if they wanted me to cancel my membership to CASAA because they seem to be fighting against my advocating. That got the post closed for comments.

Hi all.

I know the frustration....believe me :(

I think that CASAA went the Facebook route to reach more people. I can't fault them for that. We on ECF are a small group, relatively speaking. Sure, we feel a bit abandoned. It is hard to keep a presence in both arenas.

As to the Global Announcement and CTA's...I think when we switched over to the new system, the Global announcements were more difficult to create. After we no longer had that capability, I no longer got the Calls To Action. :( I think that they were in process of moving over to a stronger FB presence at that time.

As far as sending out emails for CTA's, that is totally on CASAA's shoulders. They are posting them on the FB pages. I think if it doesn't directly affect the area that you live in, you won't receive the email. I haven't had any emails from them either.
